Considering HBMC was talking crap about Tau in the rumor thread, I find it funny he's getting so butthurt over perceived Marine-hate in this one.
It's okay to say hint that Tau deserve gakky rules because "the Imperium could destroy them easily if they gave a gak", but make a sarcastic comment about the real and non-stop Marine pimpage we xeno players have to endure from GW and it's fething on!
I love you though HBMC, don't take this the wrong way.

To be fair we're all butthurt. Except those of us bitching about Marines have a better reason for it in my opinion.

Go to hell Nugry, you pompous waste of bandwidth. Sidstyler wrote:Considering HBMC was talking crap about Tau in the rumor thread, I find it funny he's getting so butthurt over perceived Marine-hate in this one. Heh. No I just get tired of idiotic criticism devoid of any real constructiveness. My bias against the Tau is well known, but you'll also note that I'm one of the few who didn't baulk at the new Tau rumors. Plus I find the memes that surround Space Marines to be some of the more childish and pointless in 40K fandom. I'm all for making fun of 40K, and I certainly do it whenever Matt Ward gets involved, but the endless stream of gak that gets levelled at the Marines because FW or GW dare support them is simply exacerbating. And if the best someone can do when criticising models is to call them "UltraScorps", well I'm gonna call them on it. Sidstyler wrote:I love you though HBMC, don't take this the wrong way. Oh go away Manchu. If you can't respond without being a belligeratent fethwit then I've got nothing further to say to you. But, to the point, and considering you want to portray this as some sort of high school debate, the first thing you said in this thread was "As for the UltraScorps, no thanks.", so if that's not a criticism of the models based upon their fluff, what is it then? Really? Just tell us what the hell you meant by that - ie. turn your criticism into constructive criticism - and I'll feth off and leave you alone. Jesus you idiots gak me sometimes. Automatically Appended Next Post: Sidstyler wrote:So anyway, how come Huron is in termie armor anyway? The GW version is in power armor isn't it? He is - all covered in Chaos symbols. I'll be interested to see how much of a Chaos bent is in this book. And perhaps he lost the armour during that war. The same thing that messed up his face might have melted his armour beyond repair.

I suspect Huron is in Terminator Armour precisely to differentiate him from the GW model. Plus, there's been a tendency for characters to be re-released in Terminator Armour, such as Marneus Calgar and Nigel Stormcaller.

It's far more interesting for him to be like Horus; losing faith in the Emperor and the Imperium of Man and then later becoming susceptible to the whispering influence of Chaos as time grew on.
I mean, Huron from what little information we have on him...he and the Astral Claws didn't immediately opt for becoming the Red Corsairs. It took awhile.

H.B.M.C., in this thead alone you have (1) called me "dipgak," (2) told Nurglitch to go to hell, and (3) called me "a belligerant fethwit." You're accusing me of making this "some sort of high school" debate but I don't remember high school being this juvenile. The criticism of the models is simple. As I said before, it's silly that people criticize GW for focusing on the Ultramarines and say nothing about FW's focus on the Red Scorpions. I've been a staunch defender of Space Marines in general and Ultramarines in particular for some time now. I think that most of the criticisms are bandwagon bs. But one criticism against the UM that stands up is that GW has made way too much UM-specific stuff. FW has done the same thing for Red Scorpians and now seems to be right back at it. I was pretty puzzled when I saw that the next IA book would be about Badab UNTIL I read in this thread that the Red Scorpions were involved. In that case, of course they'll do a book on Badab! But where's the Lamenters stuff? Mantis Warriors? Executioners? And really, just one Astral Claws model? It's especially annoying that they did honor guard armor plastered with RS inignia because that is EXACTLY what tons of people have complained about regarding GW's UM honor guard. So you see, "UltraScorps" is a pretty fitting epithet for FW's version of GW's Ultramarines. EDIT: Only saw Alpharius's post after posting this.

Yeah, the iconography is really annoying. Especially on FW models since they're so expensive you really don't want to be cutting and filing them that much.

I second this. Chaos has gotten a lot of FW attention, although much of it is not to my taste and I'd like to see FW Chaos Dreads at the level of the new SW Dread. But what I would really love to see from FW is some Eldar and Dark Eldar stuff. I know the existing Badab fluff has nothing on them but Red Scorpions are infamous xenophobes (even by Imperial standards) so maybe FW will throw us a bone and have the pointy ears orchestrating the whole meltdown.

Most definitely more enroute, Vraks was 3 books long and as I recall they were still making Dkok and renegade things even after the 3rd book had been released. Hopefully get some sneak peeks of more stuff at UK Games Day.
And personally, I've never found FW's fixation on Red Scorpions to be too much of a hinderance, their symbols are not so prominent that they couldn't be etched out or even covered over with a brass etch symbol or green stuff and a new symbol painted on, which is what I did with the first Red Scorpion kit they ever released. It was the tactical squad upgrade kit that had their symbol in a little circle on their chest. Easy fix.
I'm really looking forward to this book because its one of my favorite pieces of fluff. Its like a Diet Horus Heresy. And personally, I hope that its a sign of things to come, where events from 40k's past are elaborated on and we're given an indepth look at the characters/battles involved.

I just saw this part.
First:
There's two books. Mantis Warriors, Lamenters, Executioners supposedly didn't join until what would be counting as book 2.
The reason there's just one Astral Claws model is that they're not making Chapter specific models, outside of Huron and the Librarian with his Honor Guard. That's pretty much it, according to FW.
You'll see Chapter specific shoulderpads, brass etchings, decal sheets, etc...but no more Chapter specific models or at least so sayeth the Forge World. Of course, they may go back and make a few other characters for book 2...but I dunno about that.

I don't hate the Red Scorpions. They even have a nice color scheme. I feel that way about Ultras, too. But I think the point stands. Take another look at the Honor Guard. There's a scorpion on one dude's visor even! That's awesome if you have a RS army. Not so much otherwise. Sure you can. It's never been in there before.
Because Chaos pretty much wasn't involved in him going rogue and refusing to give Chapter tithes, etc.
It was after they fled to the Maelstrom that Chaos and the Red Corsairs became BFF.

I don't think we'll see Emperor's Children or Thousand Sons sets for awhile.
Unless they make the next IA book a two+ book cycle, wherein the Eldar are fighting to defend a Webway entrance against the incursions of the Thousand Sons working alongside the Emperor's Children or something like that.
In fact, I kinda like that idea.

Plus I asked them about it when I had to get a replacement leg for my Dark Angels Venerable Dreadnought the other day and they confirmed it for me. The Librarian is actually named.
Magister Sevrin Loth.
But I'm assuming the Lamenters and Mantis Warriors characters are going to be similar to what was in IA8: guys who are easily represented by standard models, like the Elysian Captains were.

I did the exact same thing with my RS tacticals. Unfortunately, that was much easier since the symbols could be covered with bolters and such. I don't think the RS CS will be nearly as easy to vanilla. I'm very happy that the Librarian seems to lack many, if any, RS markings.
