Just so you know I haven't abandoned you!!
1) I primed everything I have so far... should be able to get to the art store tomorrow to get some paints!
2) I received a bunch of bits in the mail
--Decorative bits for my raider (which looks sweet! Now with driver as well... still figuring out the engine issue... I'll post when I have a couple of options matched up)
--3 of these guys:
who are my Dark Lance wielding counts-as guys
-- And the first bit of my Voidraven counts as! Once again, will post when I have something to photograph!
3) And finally, I went on a terrain adventure! For those of you that dont know, the pet store is AMAZING if you're looking for centerpiece pieces of terrain, just check out what I found! These were all in the Aquarium Decoration area, and are all made of a good plastic, and painted really well, re-paints might not be necessary depending on the colors of your existing terrain (Haemonculus/ Warlock Engineer for scale!):
Sorry for the terrible quality, camera phone!
A little bridge:
Desert-Like Terrain:
Chillin out in Greece:
A cool Larger Bridge (Models can fit like 3 abreast here!)
And some specifically Nezumi Terrain:
Here's a sweet warren-entrance type thing, I don't know, it just looks like something that's been gnawed on and tunneled through... very cool! Also, it's hollow and has some small holes to allow bubbles to escape or be piped through it.... if you stuck a green LED in there i think it would look really cool!
And here's the same sort of piece, but bigger... imagine this monolith rising out of the mist...
Last but not least, Epic:
Can you imagine a board made to look like a HUGE skeleton? Cuz I can

Looking forward to seeing the raider with the pilot and extras on it mate it's all coming along nicely, might even do some more work on mine next week.
What would be awesome but probably never happen would be to have Blackhands mine and your rats all in one game, a fight for Ratty dominance of the 41st Millennium.
Keep it coming matey!

Yeah, pet store terrain is the best for ideas, but I find it really expensive.
For scourges, you could go for teleporting rats maybe? Or instead of jump troops make them dig troops.

@kenshin620: Yeah, they had some really cool stuff! It is a little expensive, but for something that large and detailed, specially compared to GW terrain, or really and plastic terrain they aren't too bad The trick, it seems, is to go for your big stuff, because as they get smaller id be less likely to pay the amount they're asking. For example, the little bridge was about 9 dollars, but the large (tall) warren-thing was only 25... and it was pretty huge for tabletop terrain!
@Mr.Malevolent: Come, come to the dark side! Like I said in the first post, Blackhand and Santobell both inspired me to start... if you can dig up their old plogs, I would do so! Crazy floating castles and a massive airship await you!
@Santobell: Oh my god that would be freaking amazing! Heh maybe if we all meet up at convention sometime I don't go to any yet, but as I get deeper and deeper into the hobby, I want to try everything!
@BLACKHAND: Thanks so much! I hope it lives up to expectations!
@Ralin Givens: Awww, you're gonna make me blush!! Thanks so much
@Foxtale: Yeah, see also the response to kenshin620
~UPDATE~
Since Foxtale brought it up, I just wanted to throw it out there for consideration... for jump troops in general, both Scourges and possibly hellions (but not sure about that) I was thinking about Clan Eshin ninja adepts? My idea at this point is that they're these stealthy assassins that can vanish in a puff of smoke and appear a fair distance away, reminiscent of the Skitter-leap spell they have (had? I haven't read the codex in a while) in Fantasy... I would do my best to model them climbing up buildings and appear/disappearing, and hopefully be able to magnetize their arms to have them be able to count as both? I like the idea of using them for hellions especially, because of that strange hellion ability that allows them to 'grab' an IC from a unit they hit and run attack and carry him/her away... kinda like an abduction/assassination type deal...
I would probably model them on the Storm vermin body, maybe with these heads:
And try to model some kind of face-cloth... like the shape-changing assassin lady in one of the new Star Wars movies... can't remember which one...
Going to the store tonight to pick up some cheap paints... unfortunately all I can afford! I'm also picking up some washes tomorrow from my newly discovered FLGS... sneaky buggers opened up while I was at school, I didn't even know they existed! So I gotta go check them out... in short, it shouldn't be too long (a day, maybe two) before I have some paint to show you guys!
Thanks for all the encouragement, sorry I update so infrequently, I'll attempt to do better, the job search has just been killing me!
Anyway, that's all for now!
-Josh

Love the raider work Josh! Great stuff indeed. I will also agree with the Event Horizon references, I am not sure I am a huge as a fan as manoknok but it is still a film worth watching.
I did have an idea for you though that I don't think has been mentioned yet, have you thought about combining the Talos and skaven abomination kits? I am sure you could make some wicked amazing model with those two kits. A big ole bloated floating rat with a tail cannon and scythe arms!
Any ways, just a thought.

@Iceangel: Actually yeah! I was super excited about it... the tail on the Talos is practically a rat tail already, and the segmented armor is the exact same style as the clan rats... I figure I don't need to do much more than replace the head with an abomination head or two and add a couple more Skaven-ey details... even the posture is almost the same as your average clan rat!
Heh I've asked for one for my birthday

Yeah! I like that idea about the ninja adepts! Though it might not be obvious that they can Bamf! without modelling one or two of them disappearing or reappearing in smoke.
Could be cool. You could cut half of them away, model greenstuff of that half vanishing in a swirl of smoke, and then model smoke (or use model smoke/cotton wool) to hide the rest.

@Santobell: It's true! Fingers crossed in a month's time to see if I actually get it..
I'm afraid no pictures tonight, I do have one lowly clanrat painted, however, my camera is acting up Brought it to my more tech-savy friend and he's seeing what he can do... I'll have pics as soon as I can!
On another note, an interesting opportunity may waylay my previous plans... My good friend back at school is a collector of animal skeletons (cool or strange, you decide, i think it's sweet) And he recently messaged me and told me he was 'processing' to mouse skeletons (Whatever that means, i didn't ask...) And if they both came out well, I could have one for my model making!
I'm imagining a Vermin Lord with an actual skeleton incorporated...

@DamienOfTheWRAAAGH: Heh, I know right? Thanks for the sub!
@nocturne's wrath: This 'threat'? Are you one of the Nezumi's eternal enemies, the Squats? And did I hear someone say 'update?'
-UPDATE!-
Sorry for the delay!! Finally got my camera back!! Heh and had some time to take pictures sooooo...
First up is the Raider! Unfortunately it lost a wing in transit however! That gives you, the viewer a rare opportunity to see it from the side, wing-less! Check this out:
Not a lot of change, mostly just mounted the engineer driver on the back and decorations on the wings... The chains and skulls are from the actual raider kit, and there are some on the other wing as well... here are a few more close ups:
Here's the driver... hehe yes I realize he can't see around the engine, but I plan to have at least one of the crew be a 'spotter'... and I figure that he can see as well as the driver in the Doomwheel kit!
Hooks and skulls! They really give it more of a tribal/ raiding feel! Tomorrow, if I have time, it think I'll try to get some primer on this guy! Unfortunately I haven't figured out the engines yet... but I'm not sure if I can wait!
And now...
Some paint!
The picture isn't the greatest in the world, and the lighting isn't very good, ill try to get some better later, but i figured I would post something!
Here are some other shots:
This guy was my test one, still needs a little work:
The greens are paler, they have better contrast, and I have yet to get a silver metallic paint for the armor on the guy on the far left, so it's black for now... but, yeah!
Heh, so... what do you think! Questions? Comments? Constructive criticism? Heh keep in mind that these are the first minis I have painted in four years!

Yes yes yes yes yes I like the raider nicely done, good use fo the parts and very original.

Also matey and oddly enough the machines gun (which I wasn't sold on) looks great painted on your guys even the shield doesn't feel that odd

@nocturne's wrath: Ha, bring it on! Taste my dark-warp-lightning-lance-thing! ha ha!
@Santobell: Oh good, I'm glad you like them more! I saw that clan rat you posted, are you casting the entire thing? Or just the gun? Either way, they look great!
@DamienOfTheWRAAAGH: Many of these guys have actual armor plating as well as their shields (see the guy on the left in the group pic) If we can assume that something the Nezumi throw together to be as good as what an Ork can throw together... and a hard boy has a save of 4+, and an un-armoured boy has a save of a 6+... I could imagine these guys being somewhere in the middle, with their save of 5+
@Mr.Malevolent: Thanks! Funds are dwindling, so I may just be painting for a month or so until I can find some summer employment... I'm glad you like them so far though
Now, as I was contemplating possible conversions I'm liking the Eshin adept concept I was kicking around a few posts back (might even be on this page, not sure) However, I came to the realization, that I just don't have the sculpting skills I would need to make this idea work, and do it really well... and unfortunately, I don't really have the funds to continually buy GS so I can learn how to sculpt, my thing is more finding bits from different places and putting them all together...
That being said, I have to admit, I'm a huge huge fan of Blue Table Painting, (if you don't know them you can find them on YouTube) I particularly love all the conversion work they put into their armies. So, out of curiosity, I contacted them for a quote and presented them with my Scouge/Hellion idea. They gave me a price of between $20 and $35 per figure, which is a little steep, but not completely undo-able...
But my real question is this, how upset would people be, specifically in this thread, if I went ahead with BTP, and had them sculpt some Eshin adepts for me? I would still be painting them, and the concept is completely my own, I would just be having someone else do the sculpting? Does that completely go against the feel and ideals of the P&M forums?
Just wanted to know how you guys felt about it.
-Josh

@DamienOfTheWRAAAGH: That's what I thought too... but I also thought that hey, they're making me custom models, exactly to my specifications... Also, every one would come with magnetized arms so I could play them as either Scourges or Hellions, so each one kinda counts as 2 models.. or, rather 1.5 since I can't use them both at the same time, but still... More than anything, I just dont want to attempt the project and botch it up, or to have to play with models im unhappy with... that being said, I'm still contemplating making them myself, it's just an interesting alternative...

I think having someone do the sculpts for you is a sensible use of your time, you may not progress with your GS skills but at least you will get the amry finished before you burn out!
Oh and never buy GS from GW , find someone who supplies Galeforce9 product and buy theirs,...its roughly 10 times as much for a few bucks more
