It's already been decided, in my store at least, NO XMAS SONGS! We'd all have bleeding ears by the end of the day and want to build an extra high WitchFate Tor to plummet from!

Although I may try and slip on Chris De Burgh - 'A Spaceman Came Travelling'.....

As I remember, my local GW plays some generic sounding epic classical music, the kind that you can listen to without hearing.

The Lord of the Rings sound track is actually quite awesome. I listen to it while playing Elder scrolls: Oblivion and such.

The Lord of the Rings soundtrack is truly epic, I regularly listen to my Return of the King cd when I play 40k (of, really, anything fantasy/sci-fi)....though mind you, I'm a rather big fan of Sir Tolkien's works, so take from that what you will.

Also, (slightly OT) speaking of GW and music, amusing story: I recently got the DoWII soundtrack off Steam (it's free), and its listed genre as "Pure Epic".

Wow, that's a good sign if it has ASCII included.....just started learning how to translate binary to text (ASCII) in school myself.

@prime12357, it's not a bad soundtrack, I enjoy listening to it while working, not too distracting, but still some good ambient music.

I thought you said they loved punk, though?

Even when I used to listen to that stuff back in the day I would never admit they were punk. I'm not a music snob by any means, I'm mostly just playing around, but people do get kind of irritated when you miscategorize music.

I'm kind of odd when it comes to music I guess. Like anyone there are genres I prefer more over others, but I don't religiously listen to any one thing. I'll listen to anything that appeals to me, whether it's on the top 40 or no one's ever heard of it, whether it's metal or classical or even rap (not so much a fan of the "bitches and money" crap that's popular, though). Admittedly the likes of death metal are probably too "hardcore" for me...I know you can say this about damn near anything, but it just all sounds the same. To me personally it just sounds like incomprehensible screaming and noise and I don't really get it at all. I have nothing at all against people who are into it, so long as you aren't a douchebag and start posting the crap that plagues every music video on You Tube (which you can see plain as day in the Carnifex video linked earlier...I kinda liked the song clip they played at the end, I'm more into the melodic stuff or music with an actual tune to it, and all these guys are all WTF THIS IS gak IT ISN'T BRUTAL AT ALL), acting like I'm inhuman filth for not listening to the same gak you do and going as far as declaring a personal crusade against variety (or in your opinion, "bad music", which to "hardcore" fans is anything that isn't in their ONE FAVORITE GENRE).

As for my LGS, most of the time I don't notice any music at all, but I've heard just about everything played in there when they actually have music on.

The Amsterdam store played Lord of the Rings music and pop music. Ick.

I suggested to them that they should play Bolt Thrower, but the manager got upset at that suggestion, stating that it would scare away the kids.

If only my FLGS's played death metal. That would make me soooo happy.

As for the Bolt Thrower album, can't say I'm a huge fan, but I definitely wouldn't mind if they played it at the shop.

My store is either the LOTR soundtrack, black library audiobooks, or whatever CD's the staff happened to buy recently, more often than not Hip-Hop or modern rock. Pretty good mix to be honest.

It also depends on the Manager or who's in Store. Last week they were playing 80's music...very uninspiring listening to ABC's Look of Love...

I bring an MP3 player gaming just in case. Then again, I listen to jazz when I paint so no one wants to hear what I do anyway. Pirates of the Caribbean would be awesome. Get goose-bumps from that stuff. Also tricks people into listening to orchestral music.

last time i went into a GW store they were playing MC 900 ft Jesus - The City Sleeps, which is one of the coolest, most creative tracks to come out of the 90s.

After that, I was pretty impressed with the Victoria GW.

I always wondered why they never played the old art of perception collections. They where more techno sure but they where serious 40k songs (the Orks one was kinda dorky, but fun)
Those where the first 12" I ever owned, made my dad tear up a bit when I got those at the ripe young age of 14.

It also turned me onto a whole new sound in music, Codec & Flexor being one.
