Like most others... painting many of the same figure is mind numbing. Boyz in my case. As for pure dislike... lootas. They're fiddly, fully 3 dimensional, highly detailed and just a real pain to do well. AND you need a lot of them. I actually have 4 guys in my squad that I purchased from another painter when I first started the army (not the guys above, those are mine). They're painted fine, but they don't fit in with the rest that I did. I should repaint or replace them with my own style, but I keep putting it off because of the time required in making them look decent.

I get bored quickly with repetition so doing more than 5 of anything is tedium in the extreme, and trying to assembly line only makes it worse. What I'm trying now is doing a couple then switching to a different unit or different army for a few minis then coming back. It is going to take me the rest of my life to finish what I already have.

Anything with 2h shooting weapon. Shootas, bolters ect. You have to paint then assemble if you want to breast details done. Very annoying.

Well i'm completely the opposite- I love painting models with details, but plain models are so boring.
Vanilla marines are the worst. No details, little skin, flat broing armour... I would have a sm army if didn't find them so dull.

and i am sorry i have not met one nid player who dips. for all you gak painters out there it looks crap. it ruins the difinition of the model. dont do it its stupid, its the lazy painting technique for gak painters. every normal person deos'nt do it.
Agreed. I know a few Tyranid players (myself included) and none of us dip. Spray paint, paint carapace and claws. Done. If you want more detail? Fine, go for it, but even the process that I just listed works pretty well, they look slightly lacking detailed, but not bad at all. You can then go on to add more details (for me, shading, bloodied claws/maws ).

Kingdom Death Fanatic. Dark Eldar: Kabal of the Fragile Breath. Dark Elves: Allegiance to the Black Crown. Also, Masons, Cygnar, and Legion of Everblight. All unnamed.

Holy gak that is an awesome username. Please tell me your army is called Kabal of the Fragile Breath. Morathi's Darkest Sin has some competition here for best handle, I think. |

Yes,I'd have to agree.
While I honestly love the painting aspect of the hobby, the repetitiveness of painting up 120+boyz (not including Nobz,Burnaz, etc) did become a bit..maddening.
I would imagine the same is true for any "horde" army.
Atleast with Boyz theres some variety in the models with the details and stuff. Now nids have to be a nightmare to paint.
Oh yes! You sir are true! Gaunts are a nightmare to paint... there is so many of them
Good things that we have big bugs though

+1 to nid hordes. I'm making a snow based white horde so dipping isn't an option. Takes about a month to do a unit as I highlight just to make up carapace/claws gray.

Ugh, Nids for me so damn boring, 30+ gaunts in cold weather so I can't spray, it is torture. Thats why I have three armies.

The crests on Dire Avengers.
So much layering, washing and highlighting for what is ultimately a very minor aesthetic detail (which I still don't quite pull off).

Bretonnian knights there are basically only 2 variations of horse and the knights are all the same. Though one thing going for them is the different paint for barding each time...

carnifex legs. I hate them. So many sinewy carapace-y lines and curves! Where to highlight/low light? argh! I was determined not to simply ink then drybrush, but it has been the end of me and i give in.
