However it both versions use the same artwork as inspiration so they will look very similar.
Yup, taken from the same artwork. I really don't care what CHS sent you, as there is a chance that it isn't what was sent anyway, as trust is not easily earned. I note that the parent website is quiet on the subject. It's a pity as the design works a lot better for me. More problematic is CHS barging in on other manufacturers threads, and rubbishing them. This is something that has set CHS off slavering that everyone is against them when they recieve negative comments, god forbid that it came from another producer.
Wasn't quite what happened. Someone they hired to design something for them to produce then turns around, makes one or two minor changes, and markets it himself.
Don't you think that's a little out? It isn't quite like they're claiming they invented the concepts, rather when they hire someone, and that person gives them the copyright to production, they expect to be the only people to be making it, not for the artist to start mass producing them himself.
Sorry to spoil all the anti-chapterhouse bile and all.

Yup, thought about it, still didn't care. So CHS hired him at one point, so what precludes him from manufacturing a different backpack? Was there a contract agreed that prevented it? I take it there wasn't, otherwise it would not have been made. Also most of the rest of the sci fi stuff has been pulled as well. CHS is strutting around like a prize .... and dropping into every other manufacturers threads and dropping negative comments in. Not good carma, as they are the only ones doing it.
At the end of the day, whatever way you look at it they were two different designs based on the same style. If they are not in CHS's eyes, then why are they doing the same thing?

I would presume there would have been a contract agreed when he gave Chapterhouse the right to production. In order to legally transfer the copyright. Which means chapterhouse actually has very excellent grounds to ask this chap to stop production.
But that's irrelevant. Your post basically says, 'I hate Chapterhouse for X, Y, and Z due to other stuff in other threads/forums/universes'. That's fine, I couldn't care less, I have no stake either way. But its hardly on topic now, is it? If you want to vomit all over chapterhouse's reputation, then you might want to make a thread for that purpose, rather than derailing one commenting on other conversion companies and their goods.

Pronblem is, this thread is already irrelevant as the product has been pulled. I'm indifferent CHS, unless they prevent me from having choices, and alternate methods of purchasing pieces. Copyright, as they have so eloquently explained is irrelevant if the alternative is substantially different as the pulled product was.
Also CHS by rubbishing other companies products on a forum where they are well known is going to skew the possibility of people purchasing said items, which is not good for the forum and I applaud the manufacturers in question for not replying in kind.
Strangely enough, this CHS discussion is not on one of their threads, and as I don't have anything good to say about their sculpts I stay away from.

All three companies still sell products, so this thread is still relevant and not open to free trolling or off topic spam.

Soooo....you hate Chapterhouse, you won't buy their stuff, you dislike them, yadda yadaa......
At the risk of sounding blunt, I don't care. I'm now going to continue discussing the half a million other products also linked to. If you want to moan about Chapterhouse, go and do it somewhere more appropriate.
I like the Biomechanical parts offered by puppetswar, its often quite difficult for Admech convertors to get hold of appropriate components. The Phoenix club did a run of similar pieces a while back, but that well is long dried up. Nice to see someone stepping in to fill the niche.

How is 1/3rd of the manufacturers in this threads goods being pulled irrelavant? Puppets bandwith has been exceeded, and their stuff is fairly nice as it goes. The MrDandy stuff is old news as their wolves have been out for some time.
I don't care about attitudes on other forums as they have their own rules and etiquet, and I hope Dakka doesn't go the same way. All I'm after is an explanation as to why its one rule for one and not another? I'm gutted I missed out on the packs that are part of the thread, so mindless 'it's a troll' posts are not advancing the situation. Someone just give me a decent answer that is worth something. How do you get copyright on something which is based on a picture that you don't own? The two packs in question were different in their details. So?

1.) Zealot Miniatures still has a working store selling products, e.g. the Alien heads I am interested in.
2.) Puppet's War website has been working when I posted and still is. No exceeded bandwidth.
3.) Mr. Dandy's has some newer stuff on the website (the modified Alien pod) that has not been presented on this website. They are still unknown and could use another thread mentioning them.
So if you make up stuff to justify trolling another forum member, do it better next time.

Apparently GW said hi with a C&D. Some people fold, some people stand up. Take your pick.

yeah, I have no major issue with third party bitz sites... I like it when the bits look good and when they bring some new interesting things to the table. I don't like ChapterHouse. They sully this hobby with poor sculps and leach of GW's IP. They sully my favourite forum with thread after thread of gak sculpts and "frak GW we'll copy what we want!" statements. If the company was a face, I'd punch it. What's incredible is that because they approached the 3D designer with ideas of how to rip of GWs IP? They think they have the sole third party rights to GW style pre-heresy twin turbine fan jump packs! When you look at the sub par quality of the Chapterhouse Bitz, it isn't surprising that the 3D designer decided to make his own...? I find it funny how the leach doesn't like to be leached off... Panic...

Ooh! I'll bite for the Ban!
Sully the hobby? Considering some of the other bubble-riffic "accurizing kits" available they're really not that bad. Unless 28mm Heroic toy soldiers are the one true hobby.
(have you *seen* Retro SF's soft cornered recasts?) If toy soldiers are the only place we can look - Wargames Factory's Greatcoats draw more than a few striking similarities too. Puppetswar aren't precisely the bee's knees either. They, like Chapterouse, are filling a market demand.
Who's kits *do* you like then?
