My name is common in Wisconsin and Scandinavia, but since I don't live there I've never even met another person with my same first name or anyone outside my family with the exact same surname.

I looked up my last name online and found it's Coat of Arms.

Apparently I'm Scottish.

Something of interest. Due to the different spellings of many different names, there could be someone with a different last name than you, but still is a descendant of the same family.

But there must be thousands of us now.

Oh by the way, my last name is the 11,195th most common.

I have a fairly unique last name. That said, we managed to move in across the street from a family with the exact same name, who are completely unrelated.

Also, at my work, I am one of five people called Dan. It's a fair bet that there will be at least two of us on shift at any given moment. Fun times.

I know. My name is rather rare, but to make my "professional" email account, I had to put my middle initial in.

I have to go 4 or 5 pages deep to get another result on Google for my name that isn't me. Going back about nine pages, there's maybe 6-10 links which aren't me, and all but about two of those are only a last or first name match; not both.

Well, I googled my name, and there are maybe 2 or 3 other people with it. Didn't find myself though, just some random Facebook pages. Most were people who had friended the same guy.

Also there was a gay porn star with a name very similar to my own. Weird.

There are quite a few of me on various social networks, I'm being a casket bearer in Nebraska, I run track & field at a high school, own a house for sale in St. Louis, am a math fair winner, one that's actually me on page two of the search, am a soccer player, and run a church. That's mostly what's on the first two pages of the Google search.

Are they allowed to use that information? I've just found my whole close family and who we live with just at the press of a button (although the information is outdated). That is hellishly scary, and I can only imagine what people can find out just from that.

Mandorallen turned back toward the insolently sneering baron. 'My Lord,' The great knight said distantly, 'I find thy face apelike and thy form misshapen. Despite having a rather err...Scottish sounding forename, I don't know of many people who go by it, least other than overhearing it every now and then. Anyhow I go by my forename, mother maiden name, and sirname, which other than being an anagram for a pornographic mag here as was pointed out to me one night a while back by a drunken mate, I doubt there's another person that goes by my name (even without the maiden name crap)...as they'd have already suffered an unfortunate accidently involving a spatula. Meh, I haven't had the problem of having a friend with the same forename as me, or found anyone on the web either, so it doesn't really bother me, and even if it there was its just a little thing, who's to care. Meh, spam that person to hell with name twins jokes if you want, or just shrug your shoulder and smirk a little before sticking a random number at the end of your email like everyone else if its so bothersome. ^^

I must admit I raised an eyebrow, it's listing folks living with me, who never have, but where school friends, that was a little worrying.

My name's Ryan Magee.

Hi.

There are quite a lot of us - as I found when I decided to add them all on facebook. Most Ryan Magees seemed to find it charming and irreverent, which was what I was going for.

@Fitzz/Orlanth - Michael Jackson. Common name for a famous dude to have. That's my guess.

@Dogma - Have you ever considered adding ': A New Hope' to the end of your name?

This is what middle names (or just initials) are for.

So something like Firstname.X.Lastname@domain.com

If you middle name is Xavier or something. With more common names, it might be a bit tougher though and you may need to resort to dreaded numbers.

I think my name is much more common in Germany than stateside though.

After reading that though, I think I will friend him.

Googled my name and surname. Only myself and one guy who rents chambers by the hour

So i don't have a problem with people having the same name like me. What i do
find anying is that everyone spells it wrong! and my name only excists out of three letters.

And English speaking people always like to pronounce my name like Seal. I'm not a Seal, for crying out loud!
