Thanks Dantay. If you can find that image I'd really like to see it. As for the book was it a good read? I'd like to get my hand on it as well.

Every warrior could be made to bend the knee and wear his colours, however recent inductees may still wear their own colours but defile the aquilla and cross out their chapter insignia in red until Huron could outfit them properly.

Just my thoughts

Those are great thoughts, and I think the same. Right now I have a few Items I bought from Bunker and They are still in his original paint. For the time being I will put Red 'X' on them untill I get around to Painting them.

I think the best part is when I play that opponent and they see what has become to their unit. It is one thing to repaint them, but IT becomes a emotional playground when they see their unit defiled.

It would be nice to add other chapters to "bend a Knee" to my army.

Ya I was reading the reviews about it on the black library. Quite a few bad reviews in there. What is the Title of the short story.

Skull Harvest, iirc. Honsou is a McNeill character he uses in the UM books, if you've read those it is definitely worth it.

Honsou also has his own book I think called Storm of Iron.

I updated My first page for the changes of my army. I have also pushed my original post onto the second post so that there is no confusion. I have also decided that instead of taking pictures of each unit and updating them in the first post, I will take one maybe two pictures of my entire army, post and update it with progress.

I like the new OP.

One suggestion... if you aren't going to post pics of your completed models, you should make the world "complete" in each case link to the final picture of that model in your gallery, so people can quickly hit on the "completes" and see your work.

Other than that... it looks great!

Is there a way to link to a specific post?
Ex:
link to page 45, 6th post from the top

that way i can post the current WIP as well

Yes, click on the little page symbol right next to the date at the top of the post you want to link two. The page will center on that post, but the address up above will actually be for that specific post. Just cut and paste the address out of the bar just like you would normally. That's how I linked my summary posts and battle reports on my OP.

Here are some progress photos of the Land Raider I was working on. Currently I don't use the LR in any of my lists, But I spent time on it anyway. Who knows may i'll use it.

I have its set so that the side doors swing open and closed(when the lascannons are out of the way ) It still needs some paint and i still have to work on the little pieces.

I also have just recently bought a Redeemer/Crusader so I been thinking of magnetizing this one to take on those parts. I'd still need to find some reference material to do this, but that will be in time. then I should have an all in one LR.

C&C are welcome

Thanks guys,

for the door I found this tutorial a long time ago (in my browsing days for a forum) but I never had the chance to use it because my Rhinos were already built. For my LR I deliberately didn't glue the top hull or the bottom tracks on, so that I could glue the wire hinges down. When I get home I take a pic of the wire hinge

here is the link of the tutorial:

Im not sure if you can see it in the photo but both the red and black, fade from dark to light. It is my first attempt at zenithal lighting. The black actually goes from pure black to 80:20 Hawk Turquoise and black.

As for the photos I used my camera phone.

Because I can't Finish one project at a time I started another(another one that is not in my list). I have basecoated the AoBR Dreadnoughts I got off bunker. On one of them I decided to keep the DCCW as is. I really like the paint job. It suits on-field repairs like it was stolen from a fresh wreak after a victory.

I got a bit of over-spray on the arm, so I will have to touch up the white.

That's a great start of the zenithal Styro... but be careful... the effect is addicting and pretty soon you be doing it on everything (and never making any progress on anything!).

I want to work on the Rhinos, Razorbacks and Predators that I bought from bunker, But I have more pressing units to fully paint. So in the meantime I want to put the Red Corsair "X" on the Hatches. Although if I do that the predators do not have hatches and I'm not sue what to do for that. I have 4 Rhino bodies. and i have 2 Predator kits, 2 Lascannon plasma Razorback kits, 2 heavy bolter Razorback kits. So these 4 Rhinos can be converted to my needs. So I decided to go to Photoshop.

here is the original photo

This is the "X" on the top hatch

My other Idea is to put an "X" on the top. This way it can be seen when the Predator Kit is used.

Please let me know what you think and If you have any other Ideas.

On the doors looks better I think. Maybe put a small X onthe round hatch as well... that would still be visible with the Pred wouldn't it?

So I had a game Sunday. I was against my rival. If this was wrestling then I would be the Heel and he would be the Baby Face. He started the hobby many years before I did, but never played a game until I joined. So any game I played was against him. Let’s just say it got boring and I got fed up with losing! I couldn't survive past turn 3, so I stop playing. I don’t mind being the Heel (someone has to be the bad guy), but want to be a challenge.

Then one day during my journeys through Dakka Dakka I posted a thread in the "Find a Game" forum Index called Toronto WH40K. I met many good players and played very entertaining games. Over time I have gained lots of knowledge and dumped the Chaos Codex. So a year later I challenged him to an 1850pts game (It was supposed to be 1750 but a typo made it 1850 lol)
He uses Space Marines. A chapter he calls Iron Fists, Loyal to the Emperor. I used my Red Corsairs Using the Space Wolves Codex. Loyal to the Tyrant of Badab.

Our game was a Capture and Control, Pitch battle deployment

The Iron Fist received reports of Pirate activity on a remote moon and was sent to investigate. Scout reports of the moon show the Red Corsairs responsible for the raid and Huron Blackheart himself was still on the moon. For the loyalist to crush the Red Corsairs once and for all they would need to capture two strategic buildings, the fortified stronghold in the area, currently occupied by 2 units of Red Corsair traitors, and a ruined building in order to cut off any retreat and capture Blackheart.

Deployment:

The Red Corsairs deploy two units of Huron's Grey Hunters in Rhinos to defend the Fortified Tower. Two Units of Long Fangs enter separate buildings to gain higher firing ground. They are accompanied by a Lascannon/ TL plasmagun Razorback each. A Predator rolls beside one of these buildings to provide additional cover fire. While two more units of Grey Hunters in Rhinos one led by a Rune Priest advance towards the 2nd Strategic Building to ensure escape. Following these units is Huron Himself with his Wolf Guard in an assault cannon Razorback.

The Iron Fist's sent only two units of Space Marines, each with two Lascannons. One squad sent to fortify the ruined building objective. To prevent Huron’s escape they need to hold this building. The 2nd squad fortified another building to cover the stronghold. Both units combat squad and take separate floors of their buildings. The rest of the Iron Fists stay in reserve waiting for the rebels to make the first move.

Turn One:

Long fangs spot the enemy, sending volleys of Frag Missiles and reducing their numbers which causes a unit to fall back. The Predator and Razorback provide cover fire as the Rune Priest and Units move flat out in open terrain towards the escape objective. Huron’s razorback moves safely behind this Rhino wall.

After regrouping, the Iron Fist units, greatly reduced in numbers, return fire. One Lascannon shot Pierces the Predator and causes it to explode. Another expertly aimed shot causes a Lascannon/ TL Plasmagun Razorback to explode as well leaving Huron’s Razorback flank exposed. Two more Lascannon Fire and his Razorback too explodes a long with two Wolf Guard and raided loot stored in the razorback.

Turn Two:

Long Fangs Continue to deliver havoc to these units. The Rune Priest and units move towards objective. Huron and Guard Foot slog behind. The remaining Lascannon/TL plasmagun moves to cover Huron’s advance.

The Remaining Iron Fists reduced to 6 Space Marines rejoice when they see the reserves enter the battle field. A Land Raider followed by a Lascannon/TL Plasmagun Razorback, a Rhino, A Multimelta Attack bike and a rhino all outflank beside the Fortified Stronghold. The two Units of Grey Hunters are outnumbered and out gunned. The closest unit’s Rhino explodes and then is overwhelmed with gun fire and falls back and out of combat. One Multimelta Attack bike outflanks on the opposite side and a joint effort with the remaining lascannon Marines Immobilizes, and then wreaks the Rune Priest’s Rhino.

Turn Three:

Huron’s guard fires bolt pistols then charges the Attack Bike and eventually Huron rips apart this biker with his own hands. The Rune Priest summons up the Living Lighting Spell Which destroys the remainder of a combat squad with a Lascannon. The other Grey Hunters disembark from their Rhino. They send Bolter Fire through the windows and walls of the second floor, wiping out all Iron Fist from the building. Thus securing the Objective. Long Fangs started firing their Krak missiles at any vehicles in sight. Unfortunately they did not make a dent. If anything all they did was slow them down.
Meanwhile on the other side of the battle field, as a last ditch effort, The Grey Hunters Forward their Rhino towards the Land raider. They disembark as close as they can pull out their Meltaguns, aim, fire … they only manage two glancing hits and the Land Raider is only stunned!

The Land Raider Front Assault doors open and out charges 5 Terminators led by Korsarro Khan. The last attempt of the Grey Hunters sent them in to the jaws of death. The Terminators made easy work of them. The two that lived fell back to fight another day. The only thing keeping the Iron Fists from this Stronghold is one Rhino.
More Iron Fist Reserves enter the battle field. A Razorback arrived on the side with the Stronghold and a Rhino with 6 Sternguard on the other side. These Sternguard and their combi weapons are the only unit close enough to stop Huron! They use their Combi-Flamers through the top hatch of their Rhino to burn down a units of grey Hunters, killing only two.

Turn Four:

The unit of Grey Hunters returns fire with their Meltaguns and explode the Sternguard Rhino. In doing so they killed two sternguard and one Grey hunter. Now out in the open the squad of Sternguard was easy picking for Huron and Guard. Removing each of their heads.
The single Grey Hunter Rhino contesting the capture of the stronghold tries to tank shock the Terminators but they step aside and embark their Land raider as it blows apart that Rhino. The Iron Fist now controls the stronghold and succeeded in removing the pirate threat. Unfortunately they let escape the Tyrant of Badab along with most of the plunder from this moon.

Turn Five:

Not much changes, there is nothing to stop the Red Corsairs escaping with the Plunder and a Red Corsair Razorback failed to contest the stronghold (1/2” before getting wreaked)

Outcome: Draw

It was a pretty good game, I was able to last more than three turns and put up a good fight against him. I can’t wait till I Beat him. So bring it!!

So for that last game I needed alot of troops. 4 units of GH and all I had was 25-30 marines so I had to pull out my SW pack sprues and with other bits I was able to make 12 extra marines. Now since there are so many weapon options for SW I decided to magnetize the arms. I managed to get all 12 torsos magnetized, but only 6 sets of arms. so I kinda lucked out when playing. I lost enough marines that I didn't need the armless ones lol. But I did have the 6 on the board.

I'm not sure if anyone else has experence with Magnetized arms, but mine wasn't pleasent. The magnets are strong considering their size but manhandling them, causes a few arms to fall off. (mostly when removing them from the board when ur less carefull and sad). So I thought I lost an arm after cleaning up and spent half an hour searching. Normally i wouldn't care so much for a arm, but there is a magnet sticking it it! I found it after I got home and was unpacking my boxes. Turns out it stuck to another armless body.

I just got in the mail yesterday 2 more boxes of SW pack. yea thats another 20 SW to work on! Thats another 112 Heads!! I think I might glue a bunch of them together in a bloody mess objective marker. Huron's failed conversions or insentive.

I need to fig out if I want to Magnetize these too.

Magnetizing little bits can be a real pain & I'm not sure is worth it in the end.

Was he running 2 devastator squads? i didnt think tac squads could take 2 heavy weapons, just 1 heavy and 1 special.

I do not have the codex in front of me so not 100% on this but pretty sure thats the rule.

If so your friend was runnng 2 illegal tac squads as you said they had 2 LC each

Hey Styro: Just wanted to say I enjoyed your battle report greatly. Sorry for the briefness of my last post but my computer is down so most of my posting is done from my phone at the moment... which pretty much eliminates intelligent commentary on my part. Things looked like they were going really good for you in the beginning until your shooting luck kind of fizzled on you.

I think I might have made a mistake on the heavy weapons. They were 3 combat squads. the other halves were probably in the 2 razorbacks theat never disembarked, as for the third I have no Idea.

Suncrusher was the player, He just joined Dakka Dakka after this game. Maybe he can explain it better?

For Huron I used:
HQ: Huron Blackheart - complete
1 Wolf Lord in Power Armour, (Belt of Russ;Wolf Tail Talisman; Power Weapon x1; Powerfist x1)

No heavy flamer or Warp time tho
I'm up for better suggestions.

Meh, no need to be impressed by me... I think you do great work, be impressed by that.

Yeah, some days things just don't pay out like they should, and it seems to me (as a purveyor of shooty armies) that shooting is more susceptible to dice failure than assault is. Might just be my perception but I have had monumental, army-wide shooting failures in 5th but hand-to-hand generally seems to be pretty reliable. (not that you always win, but things tend to perform as expected).

Without being able to see the board it's hard to give you any suggestions on how you might have dealt with the battle more effectively. I couldn't "see" anything in your description that sounded wrong, you just had one really bad turn of shooting early that put you behind the 8-ball from that point on. Nothing you can do about that.

But... there's always the next game!
