Now that I think about though, I'm generally happier now that I don't spend every minute of my free time cooped up in my room painting toy soldiers. Go figure!

However, I do get nostalgic when my gaze falls upon the mountains of converted, yet unpainted orks sitting atop my dresser. . . . perhaps someday.

You've never played a game ever? Weirdness.

I haven't played in a while. I might get back into 40k once I'm out of school if I can find a good group of non neckbeards.

I had far more opportunities to game while I was on active duty, especially when I was deployed overseas. There are only so many things you can do on down time and married soldiers don’t have access to their family that would normally reduce game time.

Shuma, you're in Maine, right? I know Crossroads in Standish is pretty good. Three Geeks up in Bangor seemed nice too, though I've only been there once.

I live about 15 minutes from game geeks. It's a fun crowd, and I used to attend their events but the college friends I went with graduated or otherwise left the school and I don't really have the time to invest in the hobby at the moment (also I graduate in a few weeks and after that I move 130 miles away). Crossroads is a really good store but it's a bit too far for pick up and play games. I've attended a few tournies there in the past.

I'ma be real. The college group that was playing aside from a few people I knew before even attending the school is pretty neckbeardy. Good guys, but it's uncomfortable for me at this point and they played at a lower level then I was used too. most of them were new recruits and I've been playing (unsteadily) for over a decade.

How often do my little plastic models act out their fascist space-opera? Not as often as I would like, to be honest...

I almost always agree with Albatross, I can't see why anyone wouldn't.

Yeah, the guys I play with are all either in college or just graduated. I typically avoid gaming stores because I don't care much for the smell, the crowds of Yu-Gi-Oh goods and other undesirables.

Just because the game is 'nerdy' or however you may describe it doesn't mean you have to fit a stereotype in order to play it.

Having been to enough cons and seen enough Warhammer players I'm not sure our community is in a place to throw derision on the appearance and smells of other gamers, even Yu-Giu-Oh.

Amidst the mists and coldest frosts he thrusts his fists against the posts and still insists he sees the ghosts.

I was commenting on the smell and appearance of all gamers at these stores.

I don't get to play as much as I'd like (almost a year since my last game), since everyone in my 'group' has such different schedules. We've got a get together planned next week, and I'm pretty pumped!

Hopefully we will be able to get together more regularly soon. I don't wanna touch the game store crowd with a 20ft pole.

I'm sad and surprised at the state of gamers near you. Where I game it's maybe 50/50 split at the store that has minis, and 90%+ respectable professional adults at the store that focuses more on boardgaming.

There's a pretty solid group of gamers in SA, I'd say about 50 or so, but most people outside that group are...iffy...

And the only two major gaming stores left make most of their revenue off of MtG and other card games which tend to be dominated by teens and the occasional older guy.

I'm unhappy with it, the good store closed down about a year or so ago, there's really no reason to go to any of the stores now aside from tournaments.
