Just something to add to this guys, I dunno if it means anything.

On page IX of the Warhammer 40k side of February white Dwarf there is a small box at the top of the page that says:

"Dark Millennium is not only the name of a forthcoming 40K massively multiplayer online computer game but was the first boxed..."

Perhaps the game isn't dead and buried yet?

Not really conclusive Iranna. White Dwarf is written and laid-out months in advance.

I know, however, if THQ would have foreseen any financial difficulties it would have told GW before announcing it to the public no, i.e, months before?

Still, I just thought I'd add it in.

It wasn't until three or so months ago that THQ would have foreseen the difficulties, and White Dwarf has a lead time of six months(or so).

I'm not saying your tidbit is not useful or interesting, mind you. It certainly is nice that GW at least is plugging Dark Millenium in White Dwarf!

I was just making a note that White Dwarf has a significant lead time, according to White Dwarf's staff.

Oh dear. I'd say the MMO market's pretty saturated anyway. If I were them I'd cut my losses and move onto something else. I think they'd probably get into a lot worse trouble if they pursue this further.

Which may be why this project is delayed/cut.

However i think it may be a blessing in disguise if this game is not made just yet, at least until someone comes up with a new and original mmo format, as i dont think anyone currently would be able to do it the justice it deserves.

They did claim it's going to be FPS/Third person shooter, not a mmorpg. Which is fairly original honestly, as I cannot think off the top of my head to other third person mmo's. I've seen fps though.

Hellgate: London/Hellgate: Global was/is a 3PS MMO.

Because a floundering studio put far to much money and time into the project, and than soon after the next year needs to file bankruptcy?

That's just bad business practice to put all your egg's in one basket and expect it to be a turnout before the end of the year.

It's a shame too, a $50 million budget on an MMO puts it as a strong contender against SWTOR, eve, and WoW, considering SWTOR's budget was estimated to be $150 mill including substantial advertising, and they have a solid foundation already laid out for design with the fluff.

A 2014 release could've been fine even, with GW2 taking up this year's slate for 'the next big thing' that SWTOR failed to fill.

WaR is the best mmo out there honestly, too bad it was made for a bigger playerbase and no one plays it :/ The PvP nature of it is alot of fun to me, buuuut it is sorta broken . Theres also not enough content, but hey theres still a good bit. Its really lacking in dungeons and PvE which makes it kind of just a pvp grind. better graphics than WoW for sure though. I'm gonna go play it when I get home now. lol

The F2P model is the future so if 40k MMO is designed with this in mind who knows what will happen.

That game has serious issues. I played that game from Beta on until they started all the server miniatures. They needed to call it something other than an MMO. It was a PVP grind fest only.

The PVE content was lacking to say the least.

I looked at the new stuff they have out in 1.4 and meh! nothing really said you get my 15 bucks

News from the THQ website.

As of 02/03/12 THQ announced a new strategic agreement with Innovative Lesiure.
There was a Tweer as of 3/05/12 but I can read it at work.
found this from another site from a THQ rep
"THQ has not cancelled its 2014 line-up, and has not made any decisions regarding the planned MMO. As part of the ongoing review of our business, we have made decisions to ensure that the company is strategically addressing the most attractive markets. As we have previously announced, we have dramatically reduced our commitment to the kids’ boxed games sector which leads to a significantly more focused release schedule moving forward. Our slate for calendar 2012 and beyond is focused on high-quality core games and continues to build our digital platform and business. We are excited for our pipeline of original and high-quality content along with our relationships with some of the best talent in the industry.

Massivly shows
Last month THQ debunked a rumor tweeted by Kevin Dent that had the firm canceling its entire 2014 catalog and prepping for a firesale.
