Correct, it also has the added benefit of keeping a god mode painted mini from claiming prizes on every site it enters.

So... If you could prove that it is your model, and you haven't entered it in a competition before, could you still enter it?
Or is the "never uploaded before" absolute?

I always thought painting contests were better when you paint the model up for the contest.

Just pulling something awesome out of your case that you did three years ago just sort of bugs me on all sorts of different levels.

Part of a competition is getting something done in a certain amount of time, that's half the fun for me.

I'd have to agree, CC.

Yeah I'd have to echo the two posts above, a primed one is dandy, but apart from that, it should be nekkid when it comes to actual colour.

Also part of the fun for me in these kind of contests, is the 'race' aspect. Knowing you and a number of other folks are all working away to produce a cool looking model.

Well, even though I was the one asking, I feel like an absolutely new model is the best way to go too.
So consider it sixth'd.

Just going to jump in here to give a little clarity on some of your questions. I do prefer to answer them on the official thread but there seems to be some discussion I can help out with.

Anything further along then primed is not eligible for entry. The reason for this is, some miniature painters spend hundreds of hours on a single miniature. A lot of Golded Demon entries are started right after the current years GDs are finished. Same thing goes with Crystal Brush Comp. We very well could see some Infinity minis in the Crystal Brush, since it's an open comp and not manufacturer specific. If a pro painter has been working on an Infinity mini for the last 6 months he has a huge leap on the competition.

That isn't what Dakka painting contests are all about. DPCs are for everyone, not just the pros. We try to make sure everyone involved has the exact same chance as the next guy.

I would expect an announcement very soon. We are just waiting on a few final confirmations behind the scenes.

I'm having some paint shipped from the states to here in Scotland. They should be shipped by the 9th. Do you guys think it'll get here in time? It's for my first layer of paint so i'm a bit worried.

Well considering the competition hasn't been announced yet, I would hold off on the worrying.

I'm not sure what the average timeframe is for a painting comp, but I'm sure your paint will arrive with plenty of time to get stuff done.

Thanks, fingers crossed.

I'll be able to clean/convert the model and basecoat it before the paint arrives. If it takes two weeks to arrive and we have a month to entry date then i'll be fine. I could probably get it done in a week but obviously i want as long as possible to paint it.

If you aren't already, folks: Spread the word, the more people that join in the better this will be for Dakka, Infinity and our community.

Well, my stuff will be shipped by Wednesday (according to the helpful helper from Maelstrom), so I should have a model to paint... now just need to find the time to do it as I have exams and coursework to do for the next month or so now

I was literally just wondering that myself. Haven't heard anything from Lewis for a while...

I'm starting to feel silly for rushing around buying my model, base and paint. It must be going live soon because he was just waiting on a final conformation.

I really hope there's enough time from the start of the competition to order a mini from online/FLGS and get it painted.

There should be loads of time from start to finish(maybe a month), my paints are in the mail as of today, they could take a couple of weeks to turn up.

Gives me time to play with the model and maybe convert it a bit.

Yak's pretty busy to begin with, plus he's fairly involved with Adepticon too.

I'd say it might be a while, and I'm more than OK with it starting after Adepticon too - figure, say, around April 23rd or so?!?

As per the usual, I am super excited and motivated, but I know things can take a bit of time to get moving, especially when they're new.

I haven't rushed out to buy anything yet... as I have managed to snag a Chimera and Pupniks at my FLGS... but I am a little terrified of trying to put her together, so I may go with something more reliable to assemble when I paint.

Or I'll just buy something cool and random and go to town. Much more likely.

I have assembled the Chimera. She is a complete PITA, but soooooooooooooo worth it. You just have to be very very careful with her chain.

I'm waiting on stuff to arrive myself so I'm happy it will be while before it gets started.

Now I'll just decide which model to paint for this.

Do people usually post the model they will paint ?
Or does it end up the same model could have been painted by several users ?
I would go with the first option if the idea is to promote Infinity and it's wonderful models
