Well Corvus Belli has taken note, got a PM from Bostria. Corvus would like to back a painting contest over here at DakkaDakka and would like a well written proposal from the fans. I however have never run a painting contest before, so I'm looking for a someone that would be willing to take the reigns on this. Please let me know if if you are interested and what you vision is for this event.

I'll handle the prize support logistics portion and comms with Corvus if that helps take some pressure off.

P.S. Bostria wants to propose this to CB heads on Monday, Apr 2nd.

Any idea if prize support will be enough for a 1st, 2nd and 3rd place?

We can offer front page promotion for at least 2 weeks before contest and 2 weeks after contest to give them advertising bang for their buck, linking to any part of their site they want. That is the most effective way of promoting stuff on dakka, with a typical 10-12K of views from wargamers per day. (Site traffic is much much higher than that, but only a small %age of users go to the homepage each day - others use the forum home page or direct links to content or profile pages).

Please make the first round rather basic. No dioramas, no TAG, no remotes-only, etc. Something that everyone can participate in.

Additionally, give ample time. Enough such that someone not into Infinity can look at the contest, decide to order an Infinity figure or two off the internet, and paint it to a decent degree before realizing Infinity is the best game ever.

I think single figure would be fine.

If someone is bold enough to attempt a T.A.G. - go for it!

If someone thinks they can win painting a Palbot - go for it!

Either way, this will be fun!

I love Netrods. They're honestly and unironically one of my favorite miniatures. They're adorable for all the reasons the Yudbot isn't.

I definitely agree with this. I think to begin with, especially considering a lot of people posting are just getting into the game, it needs to be as inclusive as possible.

Could just do multiple categories.

Best single mini, best TAG (large model), best diorama, best army, etc.

I say keep it simple. One miniature on the base it comes with.

Do we know who is organising this and when? If not i don't mind doing it, someone should make the call now though. I don't know whats happening with it.

We decided early May for announcement and mid/late May for final entries. But as i say i don't know who is organising what now so that might all change.

Mine will be abysmally worse than most of the entries, but it seems like a fun thing to do... XD

More seriously, if you did it like that old Tau Stealth Suit diorama (that I can't find any pictures of, gorramit) where the model completely matched the background if you looked at it from a certain angle, you'd be a shoo-in.

It looks like so far this will be a single painted miniature contest to keep it simple and at a level that pro and casual can post up their work. Keep an eye out for more details as we have someone running the show for us now

I will b e spearheading this competition. Lots of talking going on behind the scenes in the DCM area. To be fair to all members I am confirming that it will be a single mini for the first round.

No need to start on anything yet other than planning. I will need a dated WIP picture from everyone who participates to confirm no early starts. Stay tuned for further developments.

The model I intend on painting has already been primed and gone over once with an airbrush (just a single colour), would that still be okay?
