Horus Heresy books eh. Looks like GW is cashing in their "get out of jail card". Considering all the wacky decisions of late, I am not surprised. This theory is further justified by the fact that they are doing 4 books instead of just 1 or 2.

In regards to primarchs, I doubt we will be seeing them. It's probably a good thing though because outside of the various rules issues that could happen, there's also the possibility of getting another "anniversary marine" style miscast shenanigans.

That was made by GW and their failcast while what is being talked about is Forge World doing the books so would be Forge Wourld resin used. This would mean that it would be an amazing model and not the problems that came with the anniversary guy.

I think that with the heresy spanning the entire galaxy and all that they can easily fill 4 books if a small subsector fight like Huron's rebellion or a single planetary conflict like Vraks can fill 2-3. I'm looking forward to them. They'll probably likely be the only non-paint purchases I make from GW outside of the 6th edition minibook and a possible future Tau or Dark Angel codex.

Great, HH books. Sounds fantastic and cool. And if they do all of them right, I may buy a few Deathguard. But, no matter what, till GW fixes the Vehicle-spambook, I still cant play DeathGuard as they were Pre-heresy. So I have to say that my interest is limited. :-/

I don't think Primarch rules are beyond possible. Fluff wise a Greater Daemon or Eldar Avatar is capable of pushing them to their limit, one on one, if not beating them. Following the mini monstrous creature precedent set by Mephiston with some nice, army buff type special rules could actually result in some relatively balanced, not overpowered, units that play in a manner pleasingly like they're imagined to behave on the battlefield.

Fundamentally, the concept will stand or fall on the quality of the sculpts though, if they look cool enough nobody will worry if they're relatively under powered, but they should do all they can to avoid over doing it.

You didn't get the FW event only Skin Wolf model did you? For some reason they decided to make it using the Finecast method... and it was a horrible horrible cast.

On a different note, I'm always up for more FW books!

FW stopped releasing AI stuff for economic reasons. The reasons still apply. So a new AI book would be a surprise.

For infantry I was under the impression that Forgeworld used the same blend of resin as Finecast, although they used a different method of casting and have a higher quality threshold (Possibly linked to the lower output).

This does link in rather nicely with the hint we got at Black Library Live! this year. There was a hint about something big for the Heresy slated for the tail-end of this year. And to be honest, it was only a matter of time.

AI is actually really fun. It had a short life in our gaming group, but you never really need to buy more than 4-6 planes so I can see it not doing stellar.

oh AI is great, it's just that you *can't* stock it even if you'd want to so it's FW only and FW has a... reputation for price even if AI doesn't warrant that. also, you need a CC which isn't good for a european company especially.
I think that cost them a lot of sales, too. had it been sold via stores and discounters, getting some more visibility, not the presumption of high prices and particular niches FW often has, it would've sold several times more.

Sure, and with their main range it makes sense. With AI, it didn't. All I'm saying is AI should've been handled differently. would've made them more money, too.

FW also use Finecast resin in certain circumstances (my Decimator Siege Claws are made out of Finecast whilst the rest of the Decimator is made out of FW resin).

I have a couple of guys who oly really buy from FW in my area, they have never complained about the quality of the resin models they get. Have also seen it disscused on here that they used different resin formulas, so i'm sorry if I got that wrong.

I'm in two minds about the idea of primarchs on the table, but I'd be delighted to have the chance to get models and rules for jetbikes and cataphract terminators. Oh, and maybe custodes too...

Edit: given that the last book would pretty much have to be the siege of Terra, I wonder if, since I presume the novel would have to be written first, we might have been given an inkling as to Black Library's schedule? Horus Heresy series wrapped up by, say, December 2013? (Presuming Forge World release one book every six months, as seems standard.)

Been saying it for years. I think the official line was that they were reluctant to do it because two settings would be confusing to the beginner, or something like that. So perhaps FW represents a "safe haven" to GW where they can target Vinny Veteran with HH without confusing Billy Beginner. Although IMO a regular GW release would leverage the popularity of the books much better.

Given that the series is a license to print money for Black Library, not likely. We've only just gotten past the start and into the Heresy proper, which is around seven years of content to fill in, and you can bet they're going to fill that in long before we get towards Terra.
