That's a shame. I heard from a reliable source that getting a bag is "part of the experience".

I hear if you put it over your head you're so humbled by the experience Kirby comes to your house and gives you a box of tactical marines. An empty box, mind you, but signed by the design studio.

GW products are prestige - that means a lot of the pleasure is due to the packaging/feel, and the bag is a part of that.

I wouldn't mind if they made those GW cloth totes like they sell in the groery stores, I would buy one of those for a coupe of bucks if it had a cool logo on it.

Yea, because paper bags were free at the grocery store and cost money now that these cities have "gone green". Seriously, who the hell carries an empty shopping bag around with them just in case they might one day decided to stop in at a Games Workshop and pick up some clippers or something?

Wow. That's so profound. Tell you what. You buy me the land and I'll be more than willing to make a living off of it.

Curiously my Mrs does this, not to buy hobby stuff (As she rightly refuses to go into a GW/LGS except under the most dire of circumstances). This was In response to Marks and Spencer no longer providing bags here. She cares not one jot for recycling (often do I fish plastic and card from the bin!) but because she will not pay 5p for a bag. She has a special little bag that zips into its own little pouch just for shopping in M&S.

We also have a car boot full of plastic bags from the supermarket to reuse, without fail these never get remembered until I open the boot to put newly filled shopping bags in the car - D'oh!

how hard is it to have your own bag really?

We own 7 of the things and never remember to bring them.

Then again, we shop at the Commissary and always ask for paper bags(my wife loves fried food).

same here, i have a few bags from different stores and forget to bring them a very high percentage of the time. i'm better at it now having bought bags each time i forgot.

I don't buy the prestige nonsense. Sounds to much like propaganda to me. Their plastic toy soldiers. I'm not walking through the mall rubbing the box up and down my face whispering "my presious". Their models give me a break.

If you want your business to go green great but I think it's wrong to charge the customer for it.

Did I ask you to go green? No

I don't like being charged extra just so you can feel good about yourself. I don't care if it 10c it's the principle of the thing.

Because they're annoyed (like with every other company that uses this approach) that they're punishing customers for not bringing in their own bag by making them have to buy one. If they did like, I dunno, Tesco does and reward the customer for reusing bag by having a points scheme or something (which is also something which would encourage people to buy things in their goddamn stores) then a lot of people would be more welcoming to it.

It's not that a hard concept to grasp as many other businesses have been doing it for years. You may have seen seen how pissy people got when Iceland (IIRC) started charging customers 1p per bag(!) There was uproar. These are 50p each, GW price gouging continues...

They're the same thing ,but on different scales. I'm sure if you gave most people the choice between 150k of a sports car, and 150k of warhammer, there wouldn't be much of a choice involved (actually ideally you'd want 148k of sports car and 2k of warhammer).

I work as a sustainability consultant so I welcome this move. So many plastic bags end up in the bin for no good reason, I generally carry a rucksack with me so have been in the habit of not using shop bag's for a while.

Personally, I'd just want the 150K. That's a huge amount of my mortgage. Also, Sports cars have no room and car room is something we need more of, not less since we move every 4 years.
