Unless you play Necrons. You can saturate anythin with Bolter shots and glance it to death.

Not sure what this is supposed to mean; Necrons don't have Bolters and Bolters can't glance Necron flyers so whatever way you meant this, what's written makes no sense.

A Gauss Flayer is indeed a Bolter. It has the same exact profile, with the additional Gauss rule.

Then he should have said Gauss Flayer, 'cause as you noted, they have the Gauss rule meaning no, they are not Bolters.

Did someone call the nitpick police?

So if I have a lasgun that happens to be S4, AP5, Rapid Fire

Gunna get upset when I call it a bolter?

The Night Scythe is crazily good or an Alphastrike. It can appear at 24" on, disgorge a load of Warriors, then get off the board in the Shooting Phase.

enemy flyers come on, then the night scythe comes on again and shoots it down

It really depends on the flyer; there are good and bad flyers, just like everything else. Razorwings are marvelous cheap anti-infantry, Barracudas and Hell Blades are marvelous cheap interceptors, Valkyries/Vendettas are marvelous and versatile units that can do a lot of things, Vultures can just drop into Hover Mode and cover the battlefield in bullets, Stormravens and Storm Eagles can be absurdly powerful depending on what you load them with...

Debateable point, as the rules say a flyer making a Zoom move can leave combat airspace; a Zoom move is done in the movement phase and Flat Out is its own type of move. It has debated to no end however, without a concensus I believe, but I figure it's best you know that some people may argue against you doing this.

I'm a DE player and I used my razorwing jetfighter for the first time yesterday. It actually turned out amazingly coming in late because we went second and most of the other two guys (it was 2v2) units were deep striking. By the time it came on most of their units were on the field. I chose to have necrotoxin missiles so I popped one space wolves rhino with my dark lances and luckily it exploded on the penetrating hit table. The necrotoxin missle would not have done anything to the armor but enemy infantry were close to it so I wanted to get a few hits in. It deviated 2 inches and got 7hits most of which wounded. Admittedly after 2 turns I had to turn 90 degrees to keep from going off table edge and had no targets on that corner of the table.

Does anyone have any experience using the heldrake? Is it any good?

The game is objective based so top tier flyers are crons and ig. People are really focused on the lost turn or 2 of shooting, but in the case of troop transports it's also a turn or 2 of scoring units not being shot at.

Between 65 point scoring units and the invasion beam rules night scythes are are awesome.

Vendettas are even better imo. IG scoring units can be as inexpensive as 50 or even 30 points, the unit is under priced, and the lc are very good at downing enemy flyers. I don't agree with the practice of squadroning them, it's just a waste to pump 6 or 9 tllc shots into targets that only need 3 to drop.

Other flyers are well balanced units. Most armies can make an effective use of one, but it's probably not good to spam them.

Chaos isn’t a pit. Chaos is a ladder. Many who try to climb it fail, and never get to try again. The fall breaks them. And some are given a chance to climb, but refuse. They cling to the realm, or love, or the gods…illusions. Only the ladder is real. The climb is all there is, but they’ll never know this. Not until it’s too late.

I used mine in a list which I allied in some necrons to get a night scythe and a doom scythe for target saturation. I played against Tyranids, and this thing was money, absolutely amazing. Only one battle so far with it though so hardly a good litmus.

In your nightmares...

Are fliers overrated? Yes. Are they bad? Not at all.

1 flier can be easily ignored, but 2 or more is nasty, especially if they both run as the same role (personally I run 1 AI and 1 AV/AA). two fliers coming on turn two will wreck most things, even with a quad gun or whatnot.
