Hi Lego, just to note that the Google Ad redirection issue has started happening again when browsing Dakka on my iPad (using worksafe theme not mobile). I also have ads turned off which was the previous fix. I am still getting the redirection but to a blank page (presumably because ads are disabled).

I don't know if this occurred around the time Lego fixed it, but this was happening on my phone, until I wiped my internet history, and then it worked fine. I know that can solve other issues with using an iPhone on Dakka, so may be worth trying if this continues

Yeah I made some tweaks yesterday which appear to have broken that aspect of it again! Working on it at the moment - estimated fix in place by Thursday.

And yeah, I'm getting this when I browse via my iPhone too...

Logging out and then back in again seems to fix the issue for me, though only for a while. i logged out yesterday and it stopped it from happening. But when I came back today, the issue was back until I logged out again.

In some topics it doesn't happen at all, but in others, it renders them totally unreadable. I'm less frustrated than bewildered.

Yeah this is happening to me every time I post in a topic. I get redirected to an ad.

Using the standard (Dakka 2012 orange) theme on iPad.

I'm happy to get ads in banners and stuff, it's what keeps sites like this afloat, and a lot of the ads on Dakka are quite handy and wargaming related anyway. But these Google redirect ads are the usual targeted ads that misinterpret what wargaming is and try to get me to play gakky mobile games with war in the title, that get annoying. (I assume it's unintentional anyway)

Just to verify, are people seeing it from browsing, or just after posting?

I get it both from clicking on a 'first unread' link and when posting using the 'quick reply' box. In either case, if the new page has an Adsense ad on it, you get redirected. General browsing doesn't seem to trigger it, neither have I had it happen with standard (non-quick reply) posting.

I have the same as above, but it also triggers when posting normally.
In which case pressing "back" goes back to the post writing screen, and can mean it resubmits if I'm not quick on the ball.

This is happening to me too. I'm using an iPhone and it only seems to happen when using 'first unread', although I've also had odd behaviour when using the quick reply, where as I start to type the keyboard disappears. Not sure if that's because the focus is being moved to something else (e.g. an ad) or if it's unrelated. But they both started happening at the same time.

Thanks for the info - appears to be consistent with the last time it happened, basically whenever there is a # symbol in the URL on iOS, the advert takes over the screen. Fix is pending!

Thanks Lego , I noticed it was happening this morning again, but got sidetracked before I could notify here. Always glad to see DakkaDakka on the ball with fixes.

Been happening to me lately as well- iOS Safari user. Not only do I get it from the "First Unread" occasionally, but also from the black arrow/white page button that takes you to the last post. I usually hit First Unread, back to my subbed threads, then try the arrow and it throws up the same ad.

Have not yet encountered any ads from the quick reply.

Thursday can't get here soon enough - and not just because I've got the day off!

Anyone still having the issue, try logging out and then back in again.

I haven't had the issue happen to me since I've done that...so I'm curious to see if that fixes the issue for others as well.

Has had little effect for me. Although I only see it about once every 8-12 times I click First Unread.
