The new box cover does not convey this.
Some of my comments may seem nitpicking, or harsh, but I really try to help.
The box cover shows a grand melee with two units firing, its dramatic alright, but does not convey a mainly ranged combat game.

Artistic license!
I didn't for a second think that this game wouldn't be weighted heavy towards shooting holes through everything in sight!

The point is, when you choose an illustration for your box, you choose the image you want to convey to the potential buyers, some just browsing, some not knowing what your company does, the more accurately the cover/ box image describes the game, or the feel the game wants to invoke to the gamer/ buyer the better.

I have to disagree - the cover needs to be dynamic and eye catching.
Having two units stand 100 meters apart and shoot away at each other would probably...look really silly on a box cover.
Long story short - I like the proposed cover art!

Its not I do not like it as art, but not as box art, would be great for interior art.
I disagree that shootout images do not give much action.
Well there is always the deployment scenes too, but these are not that good for covers.

At first I thought the stuff Psychotic Storm posted was the actual box art. i was like, "Holy CRAP that's nice!"
Then I realized it had nothing to do with the game.
But them sure is some purdy lookin' pitchers.
As long as your cover is EXTREME with lots of grimacing faces, explosions, skulls, and big guns it will be fine.

All of this pictures would make great interior art and are excellent for that - as covers, not so much!

Well, what can I say, contradicting opinions, if I saw the proposed box art I would think, "ok 40k style sci fi melee game".

The reason we chose a close combat image is to better display the different units of two armies (in the image you can see a biotank, a glorlon soldier, a heavy warrior, a colonial commander, a T-94, a Stakan, colonial troops..). Maybe it´s a good idea to put a game example in the back cover to show how the combat will be

Sounds good, I know the purpose of the illustration its what you said, a display of really many units.
I argued on the message it conveyed, not its purpose, a descriptive back image might be a good thing.

Nice, but not sure on the hind legs and the curved "fingers" are the legs a biomechanical carriage or part of a living creature?

I like that render, but I have a strange desire to just go to town on it with a rainbow of colors. Not really sure why either...
Really liking the designs.

Well, it is a Cephalopod. And it does appear to be based on a Cuttle Fish, so weird funky colors wouldn't be out of place. Mos Cephalopods and especially Cuttle Fish have color changing camouflage capabilities.
Enough of the fishies though, I wanna see this mysterious third alien race.

As much as I like the concept art (which I do), and the Russian element someone mentioned earlier, it's the rules that will determine if I get in on this
Got any info on that?

The legs, weapons, etc are part of the biotech carrier of the glorlon being. Perhaps in this sketch you can see more clear where the glorlon is:
The beta rules are almost finished, we will post it in our web in the next days, but only in spanish. The english version will be ready in a few days after.

Since I am the only one commenting the cover, you could call me by name and not pretend under a more generalized comment.
On that, ignoring a well constructed criticism is always a bad idea, not addressing it, for various reasons, is an entirely different thing.
