Yes you did! I saw your eft painting blog and was interested immediately, and when I looked some things up, I tought it was the perfect game to actually start playing aswell.

Ah, no I haven't seen the lineup for July, I did notice the new muttawi'ah models look absoletely stunning :p I already told myself to check the N&R section, but I haven't really done that so far ^^
I don't know if I'm going to pick up the ghulam/mutts when they come out, as I was actually collecting a hassassin list, and I still got quite a lot of models to paint that I got secondhand. Maybe after that I will, It'd be cool to have a horde of ghulam :p I've seen some pictures of people collecting a full ghulam army, but it looks kinda stupid with all the same models ^^

So! It has been a while, I've been working last month, and I finally bought skyrim, so after work I was just putting my mind on pause and roaming with my character :p
Yesterday I also finished the domaru ^^ I mean, I'm happy with it, but there's still a lot more details I could try to highlight or shade. I do think this was quite and experience, and I just hope to learn more as I go. Maybe I could still try freehanding some blossom flowers on the katana, but I could save that for when I varnish everything.
Also, I need to learn how to pin. The shoulderpads aren't the exact same colour as the rest of the armor, because I did them separately, and didn't had the right angle to highlight it.

2 more angles:

Wow! That looks excellent! Your blending is amazing man, and that pink turned out really well! All of it looks rather impeccable, truly great work.

Thx. The lighting is quite bad today, reminds me of looking into the link to make a lightbox again, the one you posted ^^
There's still a lot of things I could fix if I spend way more time, but I'm happy so this will do.
Next I'm finishing the lasiq and starting the eft models.

Made in be

Almost finished the Lasiq. I only need to finish the gem and visor effects

I also noticed I have painted my guns different between units. I tought maybe someone could point me out what looks good, or what I could easily do to maybe improve what I do atm.
I'll just repost the pictures to show:
Spoiler:

lasiq: I just painted it grey, and tried very little wetblending with one lighter and one darker shade, before washing the model and edge highlighting with cryx bane highlight. It's a gray-greenish colour from P3. You can't really tell, I didn't change the light sensitivity settings of my camera. I'll take better pics when finished.

domaru butai: I painted the gun gray, washed it, and started layering highlights, because the armor is done that way and it would contrast to edge-highlight it.

Fiday: Dark grey base + black wash, with wolf grey edge highlights, but some parts I painted more blue-gray. I tried out a tip from another painter to add little colour in the greys. I prefer the looks of this gun, but I think the hazard stripes are helping a lot to break the idea of flat surface aswell.

Ghulam: Same as the Fiday, but without the other metallic part (blueish tone), also first time doing this with such contrasting tones, the lines are not as thin as on the boarding shotgun.

Tiger Soldier: Same thing as on the ghulam and fiday, but with thicker edges in a midtone, with some lighter details. I like the looks of it, imho I could use this as standard, when I don't need anything fancy.

I'm not mentioning my other starter yu jing. I don't like it, it's just black, almost highlighted entirely with grey. I'm not changing it, but I'm not thinking it looks good enough to keep using that process.

Still gotta post the finished pic of the lasiq here aswell
Thanks ^^
I'm not entirely happy with the pink viral ammo I did, maybe a yellow will do? And then change the green visors on the scope, making them yellow aswell?

Started working on my EFT models in the meantime, dark priest is finished, taking pics tomorrow. Started priming some other guys,

So, pics from the finished(?) lasiq.
I painted the gems and ammo in a pink/purple tone, but the scope is green (second pic). Should I change ammo and scope to another color, or make the scopes pink aswell? I think the pink gems looked good next to brown/blue armor with red accents, but this model has some more yellow on it aswell, and the green visor makes me think of rainbows (a)

I started priming the next models, but I forgot washing them. While doing that I dropped the dark knight and his sword broke off T.T Glued it and put some greenstuff over it, hopefully that'll do :p I also dropped the cleric, and her foot is missing, so I'll need to sculpt a new one :s
Because I would use the greenstuff, I tought about the summoners antlers and decided to replace them with a pair of horns from a bloodletter. It doesn't look like antlers anymore, but it's cool ^^ I also shaved off the cloth on the bottom. This way she still looks okay, but doesn't look like a giant next to my proxy models. The dark knight will still look like a giant, but that's good (a)

And the dark priest, I consider him done unless someone has tips on how to paint his staff? I'll take better pictures with the next update.

God I need to paint my stuff.

Looks great man, and I'm liking the horn/antlers on the Summoner. The stand in for the Dark Priest turned out well too.

I think the staff looks fine, though you could maybe try and brighten up the purple-bit on the end. I'll avoid making the obvious jokes of course.

Thx guys, here's the next one ^^
Bit blurry, taken with my new phone, only gotta find out if I can upload it directly onto dakka. Windows 8 and all these flashy devices are not really my thing :/

I'm not sure about the horns, maybe I need to invert the scheme, with white tips sticking out instead of black? Also, I find these new minis very fun to paint, not that I don't put effort in it, but I don't have to tunnel all my concentration in these ones, unlike the Infinity models.

Awesome model! Been waiting for you! Also, if you access Dakka on your phone I am pretty sure you can upload pictures directly into the Dakka Gallery from your phone, I mean, ALL the pictures in my blog were uploaded to the Gallery straight from my phone, no computer needed.

Also, I quite like the horns as they are.

Aha, alright, will play around with that tomorrow ^^

Also, since my parents bought some furniture from Ikea, this means I have a *load of cardboard
I'm going to try and make a small board to test EFT on when the minis are painted, I was already cutting 1" tiles, but didn't had board to work on, now I have I guess (a)

Soo, almost finished on this one, still need some highlights on the blue scarf thing, and I started painting the cloak in the same colours. Actually it's the 'official' scheme, because it reminds me soo much of the awesome judges in FFXII ^^ And I notice just now I gotta rework some of the highlights on the sword. First time painting so much metallic colour, had to check some tutorials for a quick and easy way to do it :p I would have painted it black and drybrushed the boltgun metal, as I do with my lotr goblins, but I prefer this way actually. It's still looking dark, but not as cheap/easy looking as the goblin armor most people paint (myself included)

Hey Guise, been a while.
While I was thinking of painting a lot of miniatures, I've painted a lot of walls and window sills ^^ earned enough to fund my next eft and infinity orders though.

So I think I finished the GW knight, does anyone suggest changing the shield decoration?

I also finished the PP knight, I really liked the mini, good detail, nice pose, fun to paint. And I just notice I need to highlight his head and shield :c

And I also started the Pugilist proxy, this one is from anima tactics. Still need to finish the shield and some highlights:

Sorry for some blur on the pictures, one of these days I'll make better ones, and a group shot. I also bought a tiled gaming mat, so I think I'm almost up for my first game!
Found some other proxies aswell, and if they shouldn't serve I just think they're cool miniatures.
This is one of them, should make for a chemist proxy

First:
@Warboss_Waaazag: It's a dwarf :p I'll make a comparison pic when I start him.
@Duke: Thx, I really like the AT models, but they're not heroic either, so I can only use female models, because they're more credible.
I did found this blog: http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/0/455099.page He's got other great stuff aswell, but he uses PP, corvus belli, Wyrd and other miniatures to make an inquisitor squad I believe, but with hints to other characters aswell (batman, Al,..)

So, I've been doing some stuff aswell:
I finished my Odalisque Spitfire. Gave her a white outfit, because she made me think of Leia Organa with blaster rifle :p Its really not that obvious I know, my Yoko Fiday turned out much better, but at least I tried this one ^^ She still fits my Haqqislam, so that's good anyway.
The spitfire turned out very good imho, I tried a blue glaze this time, and it helps breaking up some parts of the gun.

Also took some group pictures to show they're still really fitting together:
Haqq, they're all painted and based, only need some vegetation maybe, and a finishing coat of varnish.

YuJing: Wanted to show the basing I did, they need some varnishing aswell to finish. I based the Domaru differently to set itself apart from the Chinese guys ^^

And just another pic of this guy because I quite like the entire product:

I've finished my gargoyle for EFT and primed my gunsmith (iron kingdoms model, I'll just say it's a halfling).

So, I've been idle for a while.. organizing some student movements takes up a lot of my time (:
And also because I wasn't sure to make a blog about what I'm doing or not. I've decided to just post what I'm doing right here, not only Infinity or EFT.
That's because I learned about HoR kill team rules. Someone at the club might give it a try and now I'm slowly painting some 40k models ^^

Started with a box of scions, mainly because I like them. chopped up the tubing from the hotshot lasguns, so they'll count as regular lasguns. This makes them a CCS with bolt pistol and carapace armour. Tempestor/Commander needs some cleanup here and there, and the scions/vets are just WIPs really. (so quick pics it is)

Some background/ideas:
Spoiler:

So I need a reason for this guy to be in killteam, while the 13th black crusade is banging on Cadia's gates. Maybe he's on a cleanup mission on his way to Cadia. A flickering of the Navigator, or a misinterpreted message from the astropath sends him on his way, arriving too late on the target planet. Just a couple soldiers are surviving (rest of my kill team vets).
Second idea was that he had to accompany an officer to target destination to cleanup the battle, bringing back every survivor to fight for Cadia. The officer is given the title of rogue trader, and can exploit the target area when he has fulfilled his mission. This leaves the door open for me to model the rogue trader crew, and would explain why the commander is only arriving with 4 veterans (the rest of the personnel stays under the traders' command?
Anyway, I only need justification for my commander to arrive with only 4 veterans at the planet. Is space travel in light vehicles even possible in 40K? I always imagine huge transport ships or warfleets, but never crafts the size of the millenium falcon for instance?
Oh and I want their bases to represent burnt areas, because the commander loves the scorched earth strategy. This would also justify his dark color armor for camo reasons, and my next guys, the original fighting forces and only survivors were fighting in area with vegetation. I've got an idea to model them with roman crests on their helmets, but that's for later (:

Next I had the courage to finally finish sculpting the hair of my chaos sister Sabathiel. The base model is the wood elf archer from avatars of war. I started this a year ago, but I'm convinced I can make better skull kneecaps and bombs now. Also, the scions sprue gave me a human sized hand I can use on her. What do you think? A loincloth would also help her look as a sister.
I added pics of weapon options in the spoiler. I'm unsure about the size of the sword and the length of the pistol.

Spoiler:

This is not a 2h sword, if I add a gun it will be in the same position the last pic shows. Gotta work with what I have :/

This is the volley-gun, so I need to shave off imperial symbols, the left hand, and either the barrel or the centre piece, or even both?

So, I found some time to finish my scion bodies.
Only need to do the arms and heads, which are primed and pinned, ready to paint.

I've also got the cadian command box. Should be able to make my melta vets, sergeant and medic out of all the bits I have now ^^
Then, in between my exams I'll hopefully be painting some Infinity again, as I will pick up the N3 book somewhere in the next month aswell And afterwards I think the club will start gaming again. they weren't playing much infinity, as they were waiting for the N3 rules or painting their firestorm boxes.

Made in be

Hi guys, I've been busy studying for my exams, but it does allow me to progress slowly, since I'm at home each day anyway
So each night I've been touching up my scions, and they are finally 'finished'!

I just noticed by the pictures I need to paint the gun lenses ^.^ so they're not really finished, and the base trims ofcourse

And I decided to build all my special guys out of the command box, since I've found a deal on some regular troops and hwts. I'm only still deciding if I use the meltagun of the scions box on the regular cadian.
Still, the scion arms look ace on cadian bodies for certain guys, I'm using pistol and sword out for my sgt. and the staff (is it supposed to be a power maul?) and chainsword for my priest. I've cut up the plasmagun from the command box, only had to glue a second handgrip and touch up the recoil pad. I'm going to use the bearded head with eyepatch from the empire general for the priest.

Because I'm making a killteam, and I had to come up with a story for the scion leader to be absent on Cadia, I still have to come up with a story for him being on the planet he is (rescue mission or warp time troubles) but anyway the planet will be a Roman/Greek inspired homeworld (Olympus or Boeotia or Alba Longa?) with cadian patterned guardsmen. They'll be supported by other regiments if I need more guardsmen (just to be able to build different models)
I'm going to try and sculpt leather straps as groinguards, and give special models crests on their heads. A friend gave me the idea to make slingshot grenade launchers, but I just think I'll make them out of the grenade lobbing hand in the cadian box. I also still have the empire general horse that I can try to convert.
If I ever get there I would like to try converting alarielle the radiant into an amazon inspired primaris psyker
It doesn't really matter what theme I pick, but I tought of using werewolves as ogryns, with the story of romulus and remus in mind. Or lycans or cyclopses.

Anyway, I think there are plenty ideas, and it's the first time I'm going to try something like this.
I still can't loose sight of Infinity though, as I need to pick up the new rulebook if I visit my hobby shop one of these days.

Update:

I was taking pictures from my guardsmen, when my dad showed me some lighting techniques and together we experimented with some preferences on the camera. I've got a better picture of my scions:
Spoiler:

But I was actually taking pictures from my guardsmen! And I think the Styx homeguard is a suitable name. (since Ithaka already is homeworld to the Iron Snakes apparently).
Maybe the Styx system consists of two planets: Circe & Kalypso (or Aeaea & Ogygia) with titans (local creatures?) roaming around.
My sergeant will be Charon, and the priest Laocoon. Grenade launchers Castor & Pollux and the meltaguy could be Scipio to mess things up ^^
And the Scion Tempestor is Schliemann (a) Don't mind me enjoying my own fantasy ^^ (I studied ancient greek in highschool)

The models!

I still need to finish everything though, this is just an update. And you can't see it, but I'm making a cape for the sergeant. The medic will get a ponytail (does it have a name?) helmet.
It's good to keep myself experimenting with things. The first crest I tried to make, I instantly tried to shape the hairs and stuff, only messing things up and destroying the glue bond. Then I found some tutorials on other things, and the answer is patience ^^ So the second crest I just put on blank as they are, and I'm going to put over another layer over it, which I can texture to my like.
Same with the cape & ponytail; I made the general shape, so I can shape folds/strands of hair afterwards ^^
This is probably basic, but I just noticed that I was working too fast, so I'm just happy I learned something new

So, I got 30 extra guardsmen, 20 of them being catachans, and 3 HWTs.

Before I had this idea of a historically inspired guard, there were a couple of regiments that looked cool. The Kanak skulltakers, Brontian longknives and Ork hunters. Ork hunters look easy enough to make, just a paintjob of the catachans with maybe some solid cardboard armor plates. Would brontian longknives would look convincing with the right paintjob on the catachans, with lots of scars and equipped with all the knives I can find? That would allow me to bring some variety and make two squads of different regiments ^^ (ork hunters/catachans is also a possibility ofc)

Since I had ten guards to make the pteruges (groinstraps) for, I decided to change my plan and cut them out of cardboard, because I know I can't get them as uniform as I want them to be if I have to sculpt them.
They're a tad too long I guess, so I will cut them a bit. And does anyone know how I could bend them just a tiny bit? All I find are tutorials for creasing, but that's done for larger modelling projects :/

And, I noticed I've got some prints left behind in my GS work of the crests. They are tiny scores from handling it with my tools, can I cover this up with liquid greenstuff? I've never used it.
Another question on greenstuff is; how do I make sure it sticks? Here is a picture from the cape I'm trying to make:

I know how to prevent the fingerprints, but when I apply the greenstuff, and I don't use glue, I either need to wet my tools too much, and eventually there will be a water droplet running beneath my work, preventing it from sticking to it's surface. When I use glue to help it stick, it becomes hard, and I can't smooth it out. So what you see around the middle below the fold I tried to make, is a second piece of GS I used to lengthen the cape, but when I want to blend it onto it's surface I just tear it apart when it becomes too thin :/
Anyone got some tips for me?

And then there's the HWTs; My current list doesn't include them, but what do you think?
I like the look of missile launchers, but apparently they're easy to convert onto spare guardsmen if I want to. Do you guys have any suggestions what I ever could need?
The (Heralds of Ruin) killteam lists I've seen up till now usually don't bring much more armor than a couple of MEQ and maximum one TEQ I think, maybe that helps ^^ (since I have no experience, I cant decide for myself)

PLASTIC YAY

So, I finished my exams finally and had some more time to work on my force ^^

I bought some aquarium plants, and started basing. I initially wanted woodland bases, but It doesn't really matter, and this just explains why catachans are involved. I think having the scions with scorched earth bases is still convincing, and I only plan on using the tempestor as my leader anyway.

I also finished my medics helmet, I think it looks great ^^

And as you can see I changed the pteruges. It was easy cutting each strap, and maybe those pointy edges are a bit more recognisable.

As the cloak of my sergeant was messed up badly, I tried again, with some extra advice from Lamby. I tried underpinning this time, so I could just drape a very smooth piece of GS over the pins, and I used vaseline as lubricant. I think the vaseline made a huge difference.
There's still some messed up parts, and some imperfections, but I think I can cover that up when sculpting the folds ^^

And lastly, I decided I wanted to make a lone brontian longknife. I'm making a small force, maybe survivors or guys cut off from their army, so it's possible some people of other regiments ended up here.
He won't be WYSIWYG because of all the melee weapons, but it'll be clear if he's the only one wearing a boatload of knives :p
I used the scarred head from the cadian command kit, and I can paint scars on the catachan torso

And I plan on using two sword arms with his gun strapped on his back,, so I had to make a right swordarm. I used the catachan pistol arm and the sword from the mechanical arm from the command kit.
The hilt isn't entirely straight, but it won't be that visible when painted I guess..

Came up with a scheme, and tried it on a couple of guardsmen. It's just the basecoats with some shade for now. I notice my black wash from game color behaves very differently from the GW shades, so I might get nuln oil, my shade always dries up in puddles and doesn't flow into the recesses that good ): And I really like GW shades actually.
What do you think? I didn't want a camo scheme, as if they had no time to take camo uniforms with them when they left their homeworld, or as if they've been cut off from their force and wander around in a lush place without the right gear.
But since it's either another place on their world, or just a nearby planet in their system, I didn't want them totally to be out of place. I picked this Naboo guard scheme (from the captain ^^) and I think it will both fit a more urban homeworld surrounding, aswell as the jungle with red/green plants.
I plan on highlighting the blue with a grey or pale blue to tone it down though.
