Subject: LoER Terrain Contest: Round 15: The Trapdoor! new contest details within...
If only this had popped up 4 weeks ago I would have been allllllll over it, I did a metric ton of scenery for my table and I'm all out of creative juices. Perhaps on the next instalment?

Oh, nonsense you, get to it! seen some interesting updates on folks' blogs, do remember to cross post here also. And sing from the rooftops, whether participating or not!

Hey all, Sorry for the slow posts.... RL pretty busy just at the moment.... but in the office here myself today so managing to get some time to catch up here and get some more sketches down on paper... got6 to admit thisis one really awesome subject for the comp! SO many possibilities.. but I am 100% sticking with my Ork Themed "Greeny Todd - Ork Demon Barbor"
Inmygravenimage ........ I wonder if there will be extra wee points for a working trapdoor idea..... This may give me an enormous amount of work to do..... but who dares wins I suppose!
Splendid! Well then in that case I just need to now figure out how the trapdoor will be operated and how the chair will be part of it.... lucky I am in no mood for "real work" today!
Hi guys. Just checking in. Have been on trains around the country recently so no time to sit down and start making progress. Therefore my WIP shot would be blank :(
How's everyone else getting on? Any construction yet?

Drat, any kind of dungeon/brickwork I was planning is going to look shoddy now that Cam's doing that kind of thing.. may better stick to natural cave walls!

@Grim - just because great minds think alike doesn't mean you have to do something different...your flavor is different from Cam's, even if the basic premise is the same. blatant knock-offs are an exception... i almost want to participate in this competition, as i had a fantastic idea that no one has used yet...i'll talk to Graven and see what he says about sharing ideas for people who are having a bit of trouble getting the wheels to spin.
and i am finally coming to terms wiith my own idea...
won´t spill the beans as to what it will look like in the end...but it is a diorama... or rather a dio-drama^^
i built the basic structure from plywood... the tiles you see here are made from a packaging material my wife got me from her chineese food stuff she currently uses...
I think I am just going to go for a small building. I feel like the last two contests showed that I am bad at delivering and I cannot go outside of my means.
However, I /think/ if I'm inspired enough I can knock out a small project build wise in a day or two. I'm unsure if I am going to enter because that makes me feel shoddy when I don't deliver but, I feel like I deserve a piece of terrain to keep me occupied until I get my first place.
Anyways, I don't suppose any of you are Winter World, Metro 2033, or Fallout fans eh?
i played the first two Fallout computer games and the RPG for a couple of years in college. Have also played Fallout 3 and New Vegas for about 100 hours each. but no, i'm not a fan...
I have a feeling of where you are going, Cam'. But I'll wait and see if it does end up with the certain film franchise I'm thinking of; don't want to spoil your surprise.
That's looking a bit bathroom-like there, Vik.
Stormwall wrote:... Fallout fans eh?
Considering I sell sculpts of Fallout-inspired pieces, you could say so.
As for the vault entrance; The definition of a trapdoor that I read said that it is a hatch that is flush to the surface of a floor or ceiling. Your vault entrance could be defined as a hatch, so put it on the ground (as seen in the trailer for Fallout 4) and it could be a trapdoor.
Or, have that in a cliff-face and have a "secret" trapdoor on top of the cliff.

Ahoy, After sneaky peeking at some of the entries here... and looking back at what I currently have.. I am figuring there are a few that are going to be similar in style and build to what I was originally going to do... alas... Greeny Todd will have to be shelved for another day.... but I have had another idea that I am going to get the base for tonight.... CD sized base and I recon should be about 2 weeks work.... so that's great.... I will probably be just about finished in the 8 weeks left of the comp! Updates tonight I promise! Some cracking ideas out there!
