H.B.M.C. wrote: Hulksmash wrote:Do you happen to know all the background books? Those are the ones I'm interested in again. Thanks!
The categories I mentioned are a way to loosely define the book types, so some have more rules than others, some are much bigger than others and thus have more crunch but also more fluff. But if I had to list background books (and I'm including Bestiaries here):
DH1.0
The Inquisitor's Handbook - the first big expansion for Dark Heresy. Very rules heavy, but it's a big 240 page book which means lots more background.
The Radical's Handbook - Not as big, but a lot of background stuff for the more radical side of the Callixis Sector Inquisitors.
RT
Into the Storm - Rogue Trader's equivalent of The Inquisitor's Handbook.
Edge of the Abyss - Very much a high fluff/low crunch book.
The Navis Primer - Tons of stuff on Navigators and other warp-related topics.
DW
Rites of Battle - Deathwatch's equivalent of The Inquisitor's Handbook.
The Achilus Assault - Another nearly only background book.
The Outer Reaches - A book with more background than rules, but not strictly a background book. Introduces the Necrons to Deathwatch.
BC
The Tome Books are the only expansions for Black Crusade outside of the GM kit and the adventure book. All of them expand upon the game's setting, and introduce tons of new elements, but they also have a lot of rules. They're the 50/50 books in the purest sense.
OW
Same boat as BC, with all the non-adventure books being 50/50's, expanding on the setting as well as introducing new rules for things (like tanks - lots of tanks!).
DH2.0
Much like BC, Dark Heresy 2.0 has the 3 Ordo books that function in much the same way.
Lathes Worlds
Buy Lathe Worlds!
If only I had waited and read this instead of spending an hour doing the same research...
Thanks for taking the time to do this, mate! I'm sure it will help others like me that are more interested in the fluff than the actual RPG.

So I don't see why it's surprising when this happens *every* year and international buyers should be used to it. I agree that they should find a way to make shipping cheaper but being outraged over something you KNOW was going to happen seems silly.
Just like how every kickstarter or GW thread starts with "Shipping and/or prices are so high in australia!"
As hilarious as this meme is, this ^. Every year, they have a sale. Ever year people are surprised about shipping.
I don't get how, if they now are part of Asmodee, they don't have a european warehouse to ship from. It's ridiculous.
Its very easy actually.
They are liquidating all of their remaining Games workshop games/items from their warehouses in the US, because well that's where the items are located. At the same time, Asmodee has their holiday sale going on. If you want board games, im sure its not that high of shipping to buy them if your in the EU.
They are part of Asmodee now, but that happened just this year. Do you expect them to take all their old stock of Games Workshop stuff and ship it over to Asmodee warehouses, to just sit? That would be super expensive for them to do, so they are not going to do that.

Shipping out of the USA always seems to cost a fortune compared to other RoW shipping.
Once upon a time, the US used to send packages 'Surface Mail' - boat or truck - and now they ship air freight only.
Surface Mail took longer, but was a lot cheaper - and I, for one, preferred it. Weight did not matter nearly so much.

yeah ever since surface mail was removed here in the US shipping overseas can get costly.

I didn't see anything else that I had to have, but it's a perfect opportunity to pick up some of the Warhammer stuff that will soon be gone forever.
DARN IT!
I missed this, and now the Nemesis expansion is sold out. That's the one I really wanted...and I'm not sure if I want to pay that shipping just for HoT. Hm.

Went and dropped $76 bucks, got most of the Rogue Trader books (that they still had on hand), Disciples of the Dark Gods and the Radical's Handbook from Dark Heresy, and the Tomes of Decay and Fate for Black Crusade. Oh, and a copy of Anima. Not a bad haul.

Cool. Always wanted a few of the RPG books just for reading, but didn't feel it was worth it just for that at msrp.
Finally got my last couple of expansions for battlelore as well. It's a great game for anyone interested in a fantasy board game/war game.

Not a problem, long as y'all bought The Lathe Worlds. And even if you didn't (which you should - go back and order it!), you can still get The Lost Data Slate, which is a free supplement for The Lathe Worlds.

I was able to finish my deathwatch book collection, get all the black crusade books, and finish my collection of warhammer conquest and invasion for $80 (inclusive shipping). I don't play either of the rpgs, but the books have nice fluff, art, and are great for references for any 40k collector. Not bad at all at $3 a pack, $20 a core set, and $5 a book!!
I should have waited as I spent about $10 on average to get every booster for conquest last month. Still a great sale!

Books are VAT exempt but I'm sure the parcel would have been stopped and checked in customs, and the royal mail would add a £10 handling fee on coz that's what they do.
Just hoping somewhere here in the UK that sells the books will have a clearance sale on them now. But knowing my luck they will just sit on them, then double the price once they go out of print.

So pissed I missed Horus Heresy for 25 bucks a couple years back.....
I'm almost thinking of getting at least the core and the undead expansions of Battlelore 2e, because it'll especially pay off in 4-5 years when my son (who's currently two) can play it as his first wargame, with much more durable figures than my preciously painted collection.

Thank you payday!
Picked up the rest of the Conquest supplements (Necon, Tyranid and a Tau set) I wanted to get before the game disappeared. Would have got more Dust, but it's mostly the SSU stuff left, and budget is still pretty tight.
Overall, paid $58 (plus shipping), for about half of what it would have cost normally. Not too shabby, though I certainly wish shipping had been cheaper.
