Frazzled wrote: I don't know. R One showed us a Star Wars movie without the Jedi nonsense, and it was really, really good. I thought one of the many major weaknesses of the prequels was the focus on the jedi. if we get down to it, the Jedi didn't do much of consequence. Deathstars were wacked by normal people. Rebels were shot up by normal troopers and big ships.
My $.02 anyway.
actually Rebel one did have some Jedi nonsense in it, the worshipping side I believe, also it was a Jedi in training who blew up the first death star and he used the force to do it .
Thinks Palladium books screwed the pooch on the Robotech project.
In a way, they've just done exactly what Leia and Mon Mothma always dreamed - their actions could will bind and galvanise the other systems into The Republic for mutual protection.
Except that may not be the case considering alot of the materiel released around and since Episode VII have established that a surprisingly large number of Republic Senators and worlds have been secretly funding and supplying the First Order. Sure those Senators might have been killed when SKB fired, or they could have gotten a message to conveniently not be there.

I'm doing the same with this and Game of Thrones. I had to stop following a couple of GoT meme facebook pages as they were posting behind the sceens spoilers. oh noes!

I managed that with The Force Awakens and Rogue One - which was no mean feat, but certainly paid off.
Took me right back to being a kid again, not knowing what was about to unfold.
And I'm aiming to repeat the feat with all Star Wars films going forward. I'm happy to watch the Trailers though - especially as TFA and Rogue One showed LucasDisneyFilm have a certain knack for showing lots, but actually revealing nothing.
Still love the idea of a Star Wars film receiving no trailers or teasers at all though. How cool would that be? Sure it'd be a bold experiment, but if there's one movie franchise could get away with it, surely it's Star Wars?

Well, Rogue One did that in part by using a bunch of stuff in the trailer that wasn't actually in the movie...
I really want to know what was supposed to happen when Jyn faced off against that TIE fighter on the tower.

On one level, soaking up the trailers in the leadup to the movie is part of the fun.
On another level, how much cooler would Darth Maul's double saber reveal have been in the cinema if it hadn't been splashed all over the trailers?
So, yeah - I'm all for trailers, but it would be nice if they didn't reveal the really important bits... (And yes, Star Trek III trailer, you're in the naughty corner too!)

Once I thought "passing X Wing blows it out of the sky at last possible second" I couldn't see past it.

So at first I was amazed at how similar they were, then I realized that TFA trailer was altered. Luke was never shown in TFA trailer material. But it is an interesting edit.

Yeah, I looked through the YouTube comments. It very much claims to compare two trailers, but it's obvious it's just edited movie footage. That sort of clickbait stuff just irks me. Just admit that it's "new trailer compared to TFA footage" and let people enjoy it, don't lie about it.
It is surprisingly similar to the original unedited TFA trailer though, so the point they are making is valid.
But they clearly tweaked a few shots, added the ending with Luke and probably changed a bit of the timing.
