I'm going to back Manchu on this one...it's not a movie that would show up on anyone's list of bad films. Too well done by too many good people. Conan the Destroyer...different thing.

Whilst I enjoy Conan the Barbarian - unlike my firend (she says its just dull), I also enjoy Destroyer alot - very different films both both good.

Conan the Destroyer is a great example of a bad film that is pretty enjoyable.

@Gorgon: As to casting Sean Young as Chani — the strength of her performaces always lies in her vulnerability. She’s not at all convincing as a desert ninja. But look at her beauty when she says “tell me of your homeworld, Usul,” and I think you will see what Lynch wanted from the character and why Young was such a good choice.

My favorite past time is watching Sean Young movies with the sound off.

It's a shame Sean young wasn't a bigger star. She's what I considered a 10.

Carry on films, probably regarded by many as bad taste today, but I still enjoy them, corny and not always funny, oddly it was often the nigh on same characters the main cast continued to portray through the different settings that keeps me enjoying them.

On a side note although I am a fan of the film, Galaxy of Terror is banned in my house as the other half can not abide by worm based monsters.

Lair of the White Worm, another classic I like is similarly kept to 'on your bloody own' watching times only.

Oh and I love Caddyshack 2 which is often noted as a terrible stain on the 1st film, (I like the first as well, probably more than the second) but yeah I really liked the sequel.

Finally, AVP (2004) is a guilty pleasure.

I love the novel and the concepts behind it, especially the deconstruction of the hero/superman. I've only watched the movie 3-4 times and I enjoy it as well even though it doesn't line up 100%. I don't think it's a bad film, but it's extremely niche.

I think most people rate Thor around CA:TFA and Ant-Man, but Thor 2 is horrific. I can't believe anyone actually likes that.

Matrix Reloaded is about on par with The Matrix in overall quality (imo) but has better fight scenes and more troubling philosophical questions.

Polonius wrote:I really, really enjoyed the Last Jedi. I don't consider it a bad movie, in that I think it has good acting, it's gorgeously shot, and it has livelier dialogue than most post RotJ flicks. Virtually none of the resistance plot makes sense, but I felt it did a better job of capturing the spirit of the originals. I didn't watch it came to Netflix since I'd hear such negative things about it, but I was really surprised.

The casino part was such a drag, but it is a good film. I really think the sole problem is that fans can't handle Luke not being perfect.

Conan the Barbarian is an amazing movie. It's not even bad.

For me:

Watchmen and BvS. Watchmen is my second favorite superhero film behind Unbreakable and I don't buy into most of the criticism of BvS outside of the Doomsday third act being a mistake.

I like "horror express" for the usual Cushing-Lee team up and also because the "monster", actually an intelligent alien, actually acts like an intelligent creature and even speaks.

Beware the show tune will get in your head and stay there forever.

I though Watchmen was widely considered a masterpiece in its genre.

It's also my favorite superheroes movie in history, but it comes from being a huge fan of the graphic novel.

Street Fighter. It's so cheesy and bad, yet it's still fun. Definitely in the "so bad it's good" category. Plus Raul Julia's performance as M. Bison was actually amazing.

Especially when you consider that he was effectively dying whilst filming it yet still insisted on doing many of his own stunts. The fight scenes with him in had to be filmed right at the beginning of the shoot, with no time to choreograph them (JCVD was choreographing them on the fly on the day of filming) as his health was deteriorating to the point that he would not be physically capable of performing them if they filmed them later on in the shoot.

Also, he took the role as a way of having something to share with his children, who were fans of the games.

Since no one else has mentioned it yet, The Room.

It has to be seen to be believed. Terrible dialogue, awful acting, awful plot, awful directing, awful cinematography. It is kinda like "Springtime for Hitler" in The Producers. You combine a terrible script, a terrible director and terrible actors and the end result ends up being the opposite to what was intended and so becomes funny.

Also, once you finish watching the crappy acting, directing, set design etc. you look up the budget and find out that they managed to spend six million dollars on this film.

Another candidate is Fatal Deviation. A martial arts action film set in Trim in County Meath in Ireland. It is also the first and last martial arts film to be set in Trim in County Meath in Ireland. It stars James Bennett, who is a legitimate martial artist and this film was intended to be his demonstration of his acting abilities, and Michael Graham from Boyzone. It is truly awful but hilarious for its nonsensical plot (gang seeks to gain control over irish town by winning martial arts tournament set up by mysterious local order of monks who also just pop into the pub occasionally), terrible acting and preservation of the state of Irish fashion in the late 90s (shell suits galore!).

Also, at one point there is a car crash which was not intentional. The actor legitimately crashed the car whilst they were filming and that was the take that they used in the final cut.

You can find it on Youtube. It was originally released on VHS but then it was pulled by the film-makers after they realised how atrocious it was. It's also worth checking out the OSW review of it on youtube as well for a genuine irish take on the film.

Hell no, I absolutely hated that movie. My girlfriend and I couldn't even finish it. After 40 minutes we had to turn it off and I've never had the inclination to try it again. Zack Snyder just really doesn't do it for me.

I'm just a huge Thor nut, to the point that I think if you threw him into Justice League I would have liked even that total piece of gak movie.

Yeah, the only Marvel Movie I rate on the iffy scale is Ironman 3 and even that I would rate above many other rubbish comic book movies.. just in the MCU Marvel lineup its the lower end (60-70%).. all of Thor's films I'd have in the upper ratings, loved them all. (Although most of the Marvel films for me are upper end of 80-99%)

For a related bad movie confession, you'd probably be surprised how highly I rate (the first and last ten minutes of) Conan the Destroyer. I'm almost afraid to revisit Red Sonja because of this.

Schwarzenegger´s body was in really good shape in those movies (Conan I & II and Red Sonja) but Brigitte Nielsen looked great in her outfit, too. What´s not to like about Red Sonja by the way? Conan´s love interest played a lesbian villain in Red Sonja which had a crush on Brigitte. She also had a big spider as a pet. What´s not to like about that? Though I guess the stunt men on Red Sonja were relieved that she didn´t played the role as a hero again as in Conan the Barbarian because she injured a lot of stunt men with her reckless sword play in that movie.

QFT. The Room is a lot like the One Ring: Great and Terrible. Wouldn't be surprised if the only way to destroy the film was by throwing it in a volcano as well.

Otherwise, pretty much anything with Nic Cage for me. The Rock and Con Air are classics, IMO.

IIRC its over a number of weeks as they travel.

Its a great film just for some of the great lines

Lo there do I see my father; Lo there do I see my mother and my sisters and my brothers; Lo there do I see the line of my people, back to the beginning. Lo, they do call to me, they bid me take my place among them, in the halls of Valhalla, where the brave may live forever.

Merciful Father, I have squandered my days with plans of many things. This was not among them. But at this moment, I beg only to live the next few minutes well. For all we ought to have thought, and have not thought; all we ought to have said, and have not said; all we ought to have done, and have not done; I pray thee God for forgiveness

Give an Arab a sword, he makes a knife! [Ahmed Ibn Fadlan displays a skillful handling of the blade, throwing it in the air, catching it and pointing it at Weath's throat.]
Weath the Musician: [Not even blinking] When you die, can I give that to me daughter?

Ahmed Ibn Fahdlan: I cannot...taste neither the fermentation of grape nor of wheat. [Herger laughs] What? Why do you laugh?
Herger the Joyous: [still laughing] Honey... It's made from honey!

[Ahmed has killed a 'beast'] It's all right, little brother... there are more!

I was under the impression it was quite a few nights of travel. After all, it takes quite a while to ride from the Don River in Russia (the southern reach of the Vikings, and the most likely place the Arabs would have met them) to the Baltic Sea.

Yeah, it's kind of badly shown - you have to be able to interpret it that way, because the way it is shown on screen it does seem like one night. I love that movie, but I see why people didn't. As mentioned, I have to swallow the anachronistic armor - but I can because it's otherwise a really good story vehicle.

I nominate Cannibal Women in the Avocado Jungle of Death. It had boobs and Bill Maher trying to act, and it will always stick in my mind because once, years ago a friend and I were arguing. I claimed I'd seen just about every movie out there, he called BS and started describing some awful, low budget skin flick he'd seen on TNT or something, and after 20 seconds I said "Cannibal Women in the Avocado Jungle of Death? I have it on DVD."

Someone mentioned Conan the Destroyer; while nowhere near as good as the first one, it's a different kind of movie and is really fun, I think. Although asking Wilt Chamberlain to protect the princess who must remain a virgin until a sacrifice is kind of like asking the fox to guard the henhouse. Hehehe...

No, Big Trouble in Little China and They Live can't be defined as bad movies, that's heresy. Maybe you don't like them and that's fine, but flat out bad???

I don't like many MCU movies, any Star Wars episode that came after the Phantom Menace and also Lord of the Rings: Return of the King but I definitely wouldn't call them bad.
