The endless thread continues!
I've put a bit more work into the Harrow Hounds -- not really enough to merit sharing yet.
Meanwhile I'm working up a new batch of Horrors...
And I've also hit upon a simple but (to my eyes) effective conversion for a Herald of Tzeentch:
A dose of old school, coupled with my favorite bit from the current GW herald sprue:
... and the two seem to fit together in a nice dynamic composition.
Still not sure whether I'll keep the pistol arm or not. Could replace it with the Tzeentch sprue arm (giving the herald a sword). Or maybe "harrow" the pistol up just a bit...
Thanks for looking.

Moltar wrote:Are those horrors coming out of the ground or are they like weird zombie grub/maggot dudes?
No no, they're just, err, materializing slowly. So now...
Meanwhile, I took a friend's advice and worked up an alternative right arm idea for the Herald, via some simple green-stuff work to suggest he's holding a fistful of Tzeentchy flame...
(and another angle)
... which works fairly well, IMO. I'll probably add in a bit more Tzeentchery (just because it wouldn't be Harrowed if it weren't over the top, right?)
So things are coming along.
(I'm trying to stay focused and actually finish a project, this time.)
Meanwhile, I've scrounged up some more dire wolf bitz, so I'll be working on the Harrow Hounds as well.
Thanks for looking.

I realize I haven't posted in awhile. Apologies for that. My modeling has been sporadic lately, and my painting minimal.
Now I'm gearing back up for full-production mode. With a local tournament on the horizon, I’m pushing to finish up a round of Harrowed modeling and painting. Over the next 10 days I’m going to try to finish a pack of Harrow Hounds and a muster of Horrors. Maybe work up a Herald of Khorne conversion. Paint up my Tzeentch Herald. And if possible, work up a new Lord of Change conversion.
That’s an ambitious agenda. But some of this is already work in progress. And this army needs a refresh anyway.
So, to start with here, I’ve been modelling up some "Harrow Hounds" -- meaning, "Harrowed" Flesh Hound conversions, using the WHFB Dire Hound models as starting points. After "shaving" off their fur, I'm going to work with greenstuff, and coming up with these kinds of results:
and
and
and
All of these are still works in progress. They’ll get more greenstuff, and a bit of cleaning up, before priming and painting. Automatically Appended Next Post: Meanwhile, I’m trying out some new ideas for a Lord of Change conversion.
My current Lord looks like this:
That’s one of my earliest Harrowing efforts. The concept was, “Imperial Guard tank/soldiers exploding into a whirlwind of Warp energy.” Which came off looking kind of cool, in my opinion, kind of lethal, kind of monstrous…. but also confusing and unfocussed. Which I suppose befits a “Lord of Change,” but which also amounts to one of my less satisfying conversions. I’ve been meaning to return to this creature for some time now to see what else I could come up with.
And now it feels like it’s time to try again.
As far as inspiration goes, I’ve always loved Forge World’s Malanthrope concept:
That image of a floating, looming doom-cloud seems right. That or something like a Man O War jellyfish:
I’ve also been thinking of conversion ideas that would convey the idea of this creature lashing psychic warp energies. Something that will get across the idea of Tzeentchian powers and possibilities: ruinous blessing (prescience etc.), murderous malediction (misfortune etc.), sheets of witchfire (flickering fire).
And then, I want the creature to look “Harrowed,” that is, manifesting the possession of Imperial Guard vessels.
All of which pointed me toward the Aegis Defense line gun emplacement as a starting point. So I’ve started there:
And set in with some greenstuff:
They’ll be a lot more of that kind of thing to come.
As usual, I have no sketch or plan for this beast. I’m starting with no formed idea of what I’m going to end up with. Here are some bitz I’m thinking of trying to weave in:
The bent Helldrake wings, by the way, initially seemed like a workable element…
… but I’m moving away from that idea in favor of a jellyfish concept.
I want the creature to look half-formed/still-forming, so I’m thinking of working in some kind of spine down the back of the gun emplacement, perhaps using the spine of a Soul Grinder daemon as a starting point:
(I do love that part of the model.)
In any event, this conversion does create an opportunity to use one of my all-time favorite GW bitz, and one I haven’t employed yet anywhere, namely, the Soul Grinder head. Which, in my humble opinion, looks much more sinister with curved horns:
Anyway, that’s what I have so far.
Updates to come soon, within a day or so (I promise!)
In the meantime, thanks for looking. Feedback of any kind would be very welcome.

Thanks Moltar and Ygg. I fully intend to sustain momentum through this time.
Here's a look at the latest progress:
and
and
and
Lots more Harrowing to go, but that's the basic architecture: a formed daemon spine and head, wrapping/warping the gun emplacement with coils of Tzeentchian energy. With, maybe, parts of bodies ensnared in the coils.

Well thanks! I think.
I continue to forge away, digging further into the depths of madness – i.e., further forming the Lord of Change.
I’ve been working off of the spine, knitting it to the possessed gun emplacement:
That’s one side. But I’m liking the other one a little better …
… because of the more pronounced “looping effect”:
… so I imagine I’ll work the other side up to a similar effect. (Not that a Lord of Change should be bound by anything like a law of symmetry!)
Still lots more coiling and greenstuffery and Harrowing to come!

Thanks Moltar!
Still looping and coiling....
and
and
and meanwhile affixing a few tortured soul bitz,
and
Next I will try to weave those souls/haunted faces/grasping hands more organically into the fabric of the creature. And clean things up.
And then go to work on the tail/hanging tendrils, since I'm still thinking in terms of a jelly fish.
A monstrous, pyschic, haunted, daemon jellyfish, mind you.

Thanks for the kind words, folks!
I'm thinking a pair of wings will help this -- both to even out the anatomy and proportions of the piece, and to signal the proxy more clearly to my opponents.
And I know what wings I want to use. Can't afford them now, so I'll shelve this for a bit.
Meanwhile, the tournament I spoke of has come and gone. My push did not propel things as far along as I'd hoped, but it did re-start momentum.
For example, I made good headway on a new pack of horrors.
Here they are modeled (mostly).
Now that horrors are no longer "shooty" models, but rather a psychic brotherhood, I've tailored the conversion accordingly. The concept is that the creatures are channeling and kindling warp energies...
...banking those energies by feeding them the mortal hosts the daemons are possessing...
...the potency building...
... until it is ready to unleash in a firestorm of Tzeentchian destruction:
I'll post painting pics soon. The greenstuff coils are icy blue, creating (hopefully) a Tzeentchian feel.
Thanks for looking.

Hi Red Corsair! (Belatedly. I hope you see this. Sorry, I tend not to reply in my P&M threads until I have further progress to share.)
I haven't been posting at all reliably in this thread. Progress stalled for a bit. But lately I have been gnawing and gnoodling on various Harrowings.
Remember that Lord of Change fetus? The thing continues to chrysalize and uncoil. Here's how he's looking lately:
When unsure, add more greenstuff, right?
On the back of the creature, I've been tendrilling in some tortured souls...
...drawing from the ever-useful WHFB Vampire Counts Corpse Cart pickings.
And I've worked in a few daemon eyes on either side of the creature's "torso":
and...
So there he is. I'm still unsure about whether to add in a pair wings, or make him a giant daemonic jelly-fish creature, floating along, trailing tendrils, leaking etheric energies.... What do you folks think?
Thanks for looking.

That's outstanding! I kind of feel like he should float? I'm having a hard time picturing what wings would look like a good fit with this one.
Maybe wings that are missing most of the actual membranes? I've tried to find an example, to no avail.
Or maybe something totally bananas like this wings of thorns guy: http://www.ragingheroes.com/collections/complete-collection/products/kahn-urkan-lord-of-shadows-heroic-version

All praises to Tzeentch, Changer of Ways. My Lord of Change has, well, changed.
Given that in 7th edition the creature will be more given to ivination and daemonic/malefic shenanigans than to witchfirey mischief, I decided to rework part of my conversion. I took out the quad-guns-going-Tzeentchy part, and spliced in more eyeballs and a mortal victim/vessel instead:
Then set to with some more harrowing. Wove in greenstuff…
…and yet more greenstuff…
and (…wait for it…) then some more stuff of green. Bringing things to more or less this point:
Here are a couple of side views, A:
Now the thing is ready for wings. (At least, I think it will grow wings. I’ll pin work up a pair and try pinning it on, to see what I think.)
Thanks for looking.
