We should! I will do so after I complete my task of repainting 23 assault marines though. I will let you know when that is done. I'd love to have a lamenter in my marine swap unit. Could I ask for a Lamenter assault marine without the jump pack?

Really nice indeed ! The painting is top-notch, though I would have preferred the wrist to be bent a little, so that the top of the infernus pistol was more facing forward... It would have looked more natural, IMO.

I see what you're saying and that was actually how I had him originally, and I made another guy with that look. For this guy I was going for a multi-tasking feel. As if he had just murdered someone with his pistol and was already moving towards his next objective. I always pictured super soldier space marines to be a couple steps ahead of the game.

Step 1: Shoot pistol at tanks weakened plate, exploding its contained ammo.
Step 2: Cut through two corrupt guardsman with chainsword
Step 3: Fire pistol at sergeant, turning his skull into red mist.
Step 4: Have tea on the bodies of the unit I have slain
Step 5: Wait for pick up
Step 6: Rinse and repeat at next drop point

SIDE NOTE! My wife and I were discussing the need to back up some files once again, something we don't do nearly as often as we'd like, and I started looking through some ANCIENT pictures of old epic space marine models. Good lord I loved that game. Did you guys ever play that game? Fantastic. Any ways, I found some old pictures of my squat army. I have seen some people make some amazing Leviathans. There are some awesome ones here on dakka even, but has anyone seen someone try to make a Colossus or a Cyclops? GOOD LORD would that rule.

Here is a random ork biker that i've been playing around with. I took nearly a dozen pictures of this guy and I'm still not satisfied with the shot, but what do you think?

Wow Awesome. I wish i could paint still. But my hand is been disagreeing with me lately.

One problem. There is OSL in places that light could not possibly reach... like the outside of the light hood.

Other that that I really like it!

The painting front has been slow. I've spent more time writing more fluff! Check it out.

I have however done a little bit here and there. First of all, a side project that I've been working on to help me get into the heads of orks.



Next we have my progress so far on my assault marines. These are my repainted models, completed and ready for battle. Throughout the process I was surprised how many of them had names already. To explain, I only give out names to marines if they do something cool in battle, like survive battle against a greater demon, or some other odd defying act.

First picture is my painted horde so far. Second is my painted unit of kans, I still have three more waiting for their turn. Third is my warboss. Fourth is one of my favorite ork characters, Nutsnippa. As you can see there is no over all theme and that's just how I wanted it. Usually when I want to paint something or try some new technique I paint it onto an ork. I also teach my friends how to paint using orks. I let me friends kids paint my orks. In general they are the big experiment. I also use them as my house army so when people want to learn how to play, they get to use the ork horde.

I like the non-uniform colors for the cans and the blood on the warbosses claw is excellent. The problem is Ive grown out of positive things to say about your painting so perhaps if I use negatives with and if you take them as complete opposite of the negative then that would be the better way to show my positive reaction to your orks.
Or maybe by explaining this negative = positive you got the gist of my compliments of your painting.

So today I battled a couple friends of mine. They used the orks and the above pictured Nob, Nutsnippa. I fielded my tyranids for a change of pace. We played 2000 points and it was a simple annihilation game. It ended up being a total slaughterfest for both armies.

However this particular Nob racked up a staggering number of kills. 1 venomthrope, 1 carnifex, 3 warriors, a lictor, and 5 termagants. Now he did have some assistance with the carnifex and the lictor but the rest he handled by himself. He was the nob of a simple 16 boys unit with choppas and sluggas. At the end of turn 5 he stood alone in his unit. At the end of the game he was one of four ork models on the table, the others being a trukk, a deff dread, and a weaponless immobilized killa kan.

The Tyranids did win the battle, but at the end I had three monstrous creatures walking with a single wound. It was a very close game.

An immobilized Kan is destroyed according to the squadron rules, is it not?

Not if its the last one in the squad. Once its alone it isn't in a squadron.

I've made that argument before myself with some of the local traveling tournament players and lost every time. They claim that the "squadron" is intrinsic to the unit so no matter how many there are (even if you only buy one initially) it is by definition a "squadron" and are subject to all the normal negatives of the squadron rules. (which are FUBAR in the first place)

If a squadron consists of a single vehicle it reverts to normal rules for vehicle damage.

Always yes, now if only the last dude left of any squad became an independant character. Actually that would just be way to chaotic.
