Agreed, it looks absolutely ridiculous. Its incredibly unbalanced, it looks like about 80-90% of the mass of it is centered roughly where the pilot is sitting with just a couple of small engines behind it (which in itself is flawed for a VTOL flier). I'm guessing the idea was to keep it looking similar to the Stormraven and re-use some components, but it really just ends up looking like a flying brick tbh. I'm sure some conversion/third party type stuff will be able to save it though.

The Ork stuff looks nice, getting 3 potential units from a single kit always bodes well, and should leave plenty of room for conversion (which is important given this is Orks we are talking about).

The Scythe looks awesome, not much more needs to be said there.

Is it Codex Space Marines ONLY for the Stormtalon or is that confirmed?

If it's not in the BA or GK books I won't be getting one until I start SM army (never). :(

On consideration, I think perhaps putting the engines where the side weapon pods are, and adding the pods to the outside of the engines would help quite a bit. If you couple that with reducing the size of the assault cannon mount (or at least tucking it directly into the bottom of the fuselage instead of having it hangin out the bottom, you could move the landing skids to the bottom edge of the engines.

Damn. Now I'm going to have to pick one up to try it...

Yeah, I agree the weapons seem out of scale with the body. Looks like someone bought a GI-Joe toy (or some generic Wal-Mart toy) and glued on 40k weapons.

I wonder...

If I were to say, outfit the vehicle with a AC and some missiles of some sort, I'd go about it like this:

I'd have two assault cannons. They would be pilfered from the SR kit and attached to the side of the hull where the optional weapons should be. The missile would be the Deathwind from the DP kit, attached at the bottom.

That should look a heck of a lot better.

The Storm Talon is just ridiculous looking. If the assault cannon mount under the nose was about half the size it would help somewhat... and would also mean that to land it's not balancing on its forward weapon...

I think it matches the Chibihawk quite well with the right conversion.




You just need to switch over the assault cannons to the either the ones above or the Master of the Ravenwing version.

I actually like the Storm Talon now.

Besides its appearance, it really bothers me to have two weapons systems and one crewman.

Is it too much to ask for rules sets for all of the Space marines books for this model kit?

I would love a set of 2 or 3 of these guys to add an "escort package" to my stormraven Im planning on building.

Stormtalon -
Ork bommas - They look like they should look.
Necron XScythe - Is a good representation of the codex art, and they did a good job on it, but it's not overly inspiring for me. I would have like something a little sleeker, a little more along the lines of the new cylon raiders.

I will have to get a couple of roflcopters for my Raven Guard, they fit their fighting style pretty well.

Main complaint really is the fact that it looks so tiny on the big flyer stand.

its obvious they are really coming out.....here is myissue.......cant be June.....we are talking 11 days till they are supposedly to hit the shelves and still nothing on GW's website.......my guess is they will be July

the storm talon is kinda like a pug so ugly its cute...as for the flying brick that can never fly..its like with wyley coyote any foce is over come with excessive thrust. but tha just my 2cents

That's my big qualm with the Stormtalon. I think the model fits the aesthetic of the Stormraven, for better or worse, but the base is a little large for it. I don't like the landing gear on the rotating under turret though. That looks goofy to me.

They could simply be on MC/Dreadnought bases except with a Valkyrie flight stand. The Chibihawk would tip over with its silly balance if they used a normal flight stand.
