Ork Bommer looks amazing! SM talon looks stupid.


Looks like a sqaut version of the Aliens 2 Marine transport flyer.


But since I dont play SM anymore (I saw the light!) I guess I can just shut up about it since I dont have to buy it, I can just point and laugh if I have to play against it =]

I like the Storm Talon, let me make that clear. However, its concept and general look just doesnt seem in line with Space Marines and Codex Astartes. I will get one, but just scratching my head on this one. Storm Raven made sense (awkward looking though) but the Storm Talon...

The 'different' tails are just down to whether or not you put the cross piece on. Likewise, the 'different' wings just have a different inset panel halfway along the front. And the guner cupolas look like they would just sit in place if you leave them unglued.

I would much rather they include a few visual clues to tell the variants apart rather than just having one kit with three different sets of weapons. It just would have been nice if they had put more effort into making the whole thing look like an Ork plane rather than a WWII bommer with a few gubbinz tacked on.

The marine flying thing: it dont look BAD, but have some problems, if I ever buy it i would make it with smaller guns (man, what the hell is that hanging assault cannon o.O), take out the turbines, and figure out some excuse for it to fly...

The ork flying junkyard: oh, those look incredible, but i think it is too cheaper to convert them from kids toys... Maybe i would buy them just for the official.

About the necron flying crescent: im glad i dont started Necrons, that look gorgeous and I would have to buy 3... My wallet is very proud now.

IMO the stormtalon needs a smaller assault cannon mount and a longer fuselage. It looks like it is about to roll forward.

As the storm talon is rather out of the blue and no one could have guessed it would look that goofy, does BoW's rumour cred go up substantially now?

I doubt I would pay for the storm talon. The price and design just do not equal sale. Unless the rules are bloody amazing I don't see looking to piece one together either.

Looking at the design, I suspect the Storm Talon only needs a 2-second fix to make it look awesome-- swapping the giant dual assault cannons with the much smaller twin-linked assault cannons from the Master of the Ravenwing's Land Speeder. With that change, I think it'll look way better. After that, all that remains is to see rules and points costs-- and I think we might have a winner here.

I really like the Ork Bommerz! I've been waiting for such a release for a long, long time. Unfortunately they are probably going to be Fast Attack, which means that we won't be able to take 3 Ork Flyers and x3 units of Deff Koptas for that sweet, sweet DeffWing/DakkaWing.
Do you guys think that they'll release an Apocalypse formaiton for 'em? And I wonder what armor they'll give them.. Hopefully they'll be at LEAST 11/11/11 and not Open Topped. Oh, please, please, please let them be sort of durable and not insta-gibbable...

Price-wise... 45.50 is NOT a bad price. I mean, it could be worse.. it could be what the Stormraven Gunship is going to be in a couple of days when the price increase hits most units with the price bat.. I'm thinking, though, that the flyer will be pretty cheap game-wise, running around 100 points, +/- upgrades.

Given the apparent lack of customising gubbins on the model, that would be pretty dull unless the buyer is prepared to put a bit of work in.

I don't mind the look of the storm talon. its a short fat flying turret to me lol. I am more worried about the weapon synergy lol. so many different weapon profiles firing at 1-2 targets? just doesn't seem optimal.

but we don't know that for sure till we see its rules and loadouts ;\

I Like the talon, the under slung weapon mount and side mounts are IMO too large- but shows a effort from GW to enable more weapon swapping between games.

Given it's ork, not marine, stuff.

It will have crappy armour.

It will carry only anti-infantry weapons, in a codex stuffed with them.

It will not be able to shoot straight.

It will cost more in points for less game useful effect than the corresponding Marine equivilent, which will be overarmed, underpriced and better armoured.

A consolation prize will be that the Ork one will look awesome, and the Marine one will look like an 8 year old put it together from legos. Even looting it for orks will not make it look that good.

If this isn't true, i'll be a happy camper, but i'm not holding much hope.

I'll buy the Ork ones anyways, as they look good and orky (and i'm not obsessed with optimizing every list i run) .

I dont play 40k but I might just buy a Ork Fighta just to paint it up and run around my house making engine noises and screaming dakka dakka as I pass over my girlfriends cat...

Ork flyers are sort of uninspired. It looks like anyone could make one with a correctly scaled WW2 fighter with the nose cut off, and some gubbins added on. The gallery abounds with these sorts of conversions and most are about as good.

I like the Necron flyer, but I do wish it didn't have an exposed cockpit... or any cockpit at all, really, I might have to do some conversion work on that one.

There isn't anything I can say about the Stormtalon that hasn't already been said about Rebecca Black's singing.

Ork planes are instabuy for me just for the sweet Ork wearing the pilot scarf.
