The mini is much better without green skin.

Back at work. Kids back tomorrow. Pah.

Still, a little progress. Super cop himself, first WIP.

An amazing sculpt of Gary Oldman, only hope I can do it justice. Going with a scheme that's closer, I hope, to the animated colours - browns, mostly. Going for a purple tie for variety - kids always buy their dad an awful tie, and I bet Babs would get him Batgirl colours just cos Debating hair colour. Thinking greying auburn?

Also, swat team progress.

Don't know whether to keep them all this very dark blue black or make the fabric a mid blue. I'm delighted, regardless, by the home made guy, who I keep forgetting isn't metal and being surprised when it's not heavy.

Lastly, beginning the gentleman's gentleman.

I decided that the bullet riddled piece was fitting - Alfred is utterly unflappable, after all.

Swamp Thing coming tomorrow or Friday, depending on when I get my act together. Looking at Catwoman (can work with Bats or Ivy, good investment), Harley (because Gotham Sirens), and Huntress, because I like her mix of range and speed (my bat-team lacks mobility just now).

Also waiting on the K-wing, but I shall force myself to be patient. A mate sent me the Scum ship cards from Most Wanted so it makes my rebel fleet suddenly playable as a different faction. It's quite neat - I wasn't really planning on picking up any Scum but it does mean my Ys, z, hwk, and firespray (slave 1) all have a new set of play options for be. Can't really complain

But then, there's the big guy:

who's coming along nicely I think

The swat - with flash:

so you can see the blue cloth, hopefully?

And I'm really pleased with this fella:

No more pics of Alfred just now. He's slightly miscast, and looks like he has an unfortunate facial expression right now. Don't know how to rectify this. Possibly, sleep.

Yeah, that.

I know but I'm stubborn and they're moving office just now! If he were irreparable I'd decapitate him and turn him into a Red Hood though.

Cheers. My thoughts about Alfred exactly

So, on we go.
Finished swat team:

Each has their designation on the left shoulder, as much for me as anything else! Really pleased with Echo (right hand end), don't think you can tell he's not "real". On the back they just say swat, rather than gcpd, so I can use them for Star City PD (they can work with Arrow too) or just generically.

I think I've repaired Alfred's face to my satisfaction :

Now to work on the clothing and continue weathering the metal.

And of course, the big fella:

A joy to paint. Wondering if he needs more but think he's there tbh.

And that's me, for now. Next, finish Alfred, onto Adam West and get back to Street furniture. It's good to have a plan

I have to second RiTides mention of a lightbox. I think the colors are getting a bit washed out in these photos. Or I need a new monitor. (Ooh, one of those new 4k monitors, yeah, that's it...)

And really, get the miscast replaced. I know that Corvus Belli will do so cheerfully, albeit slowly. The companies know they need to keep the addicts customers satisfied.

I was always under the impression that Alfred was not human. Android, Alien or something else ( Demon?) but certainly not human...

Yeah, well, I'm working on a light box solution using cake boxes. I'll do a test with swampy asap. Also definitely go 4k! Anyway, Alfred's secretly the joker, everyone knows that right? I've emailed the company, if they replace him this one will get decapitated and turned into the Red Hood. Oh, the irony

As for the lightbox issue, you can try a wire or thin wooden rods and oven/parchment paper? Multiple light sources could be of help too.

Well, I've got me new lights from ikea to test!

K, testing new light rig pre box.
So, repaired and retouched Alfred:

Leaving the white bow tie I think
All in all, he's come out OK.

And Swamp thing:

Very happy with his muted palette.

Now, a plea of the grovelling variety. The LOER contest I'm running has 3 weeks left and seems to have pretty much stalled. (link in sig) please please please help a dakkanaut out and have a look, have a go (win free stuff), even mention in your own plogs!

Nice work.

Lighting is good.
Something you can also try that can help with photos is to select the background to match the brightness of the mini': A dark mini' in front of a white background will end up looking too dark in a photo (in the same way, a light mini' in front of a dark background will look too light), and details can be lost.

Try a darker background (doesn't have to be black) with a dark mini', and use white (doesn't have to be white) for light mini's. Your camera will thank you for it.
