Discussion of the new Season (premiered 9/23 in US).

If you DON'T want to know the future because you haven't seen any episodes....or if you DON'T want to spoil your ideas of how things are going to go or what have you.....

DO NOT READ THIS THREAD

Loved the episode!!

Hated how they wussified Ward.

Not how I expected Fitz!

Loved the new villain....hope to see more of him. Loved his power!

Is it good like Arrow or just not terrible like season one?

I haven't watched Arrow before...so I can't compare.

If you take the energy and motivation and awesomeness that they finally came up with toward the end of Season 1...I think that they kept it moving forward.

Spoiler:

Very interesting to see the Hydra guy with glasses.

Zemo perhaps?

Looking back through the episode you can see hints about Fitz's state of mind (or lack of). I am surprised that Simmons would actually walk...

Adrianne Palicki is supposed to be coming on as Mockingbird. I have mixed feelings about this. On one hand, she's hot and I have rather naughty thoughts about her, but on the other hand she looked absolutely horrid in shots for that Wonder Woman fiasco back in 2011. It was so bad they couldn't bring themselves to even air it.

Spoiler:

Ok....

Well I'll go into a little more discussion/depth then.

I am disappointed about how they made Ward supposedly "suicidal"....with cutting himself up and bashing himself into the wall. I'm sorry, but I really did not see that as a part of his character at all.....so I think that was the hardest part of the episode that I had.

And as I said upwards, I loved seeing Carl "Crusher' Creel and his power. To be able to turn yourself into any material you touch? That is just A W E S O M E. I knew that he'd replicate the glass/plastic of the cell he was in...obvious trick is obvious...but then I loved seeing him camouflage himself as the wall in the depot. Though one tiny inconsistency nagged at me just now. He was wearing hospital "scrub" pants....I am just thinking that if his body becomes the material, his clothing really shouldn't/wouldn't. But then again, you wouldn't want to see his John Thomas being out there....

Hopefully he is feigning that to leverage sympathy to effect an escape.

Spoiler:

I suspect that he may be playing that angle as well, I mean, why not slice your jugular if you are really dedicated to killing yourself....it's FAR faster than just the wrist(s).

I have a feeling that he was more loyal to Garrett as opposed to HYDRA, and now that his mentor is gone, he holds no allegiance to HYDRA and so he was willing to give up intel on how they operate.

Just watched it on Hulu.

Season two premier is better than the trash that was most of season one, but it still isn't quite as good as Arrow. I just hope they don't regress to the crap storytelling they were doing in season one.
Spoiler:
Really didn't like the "new guys are going to bail on us" thing they did with Lucy Lawless and her team. Obvious plot device was obvious. And insulting.

A whole thread of spoiler tags is going to get rather tedious. Can we just assume that people coming into a thread about Agents of SHIELD Season 2 should expect to encounter people discussing Agents of SHIELD Season 2 and that if they don't want to know about Agents of SHIELD Season 2 then perhaps they shouldn't have entered a thread about Agents of SHIELD Season 2 in the first place?

That is crazy talk sir and we will have none of it here...

But yes, I imagine Absorbing Man was going commando for him to turn invisible and blend into the wall. Although you'd think they'd still notice the nude concrete statue standing there... My issue would be they piled into the car and drove off and a good ways down the street he was waiting for them despite having just been in the warehouse. What material did he absorb to increase his speed that much?

I also liked the mention of multiple Pattons and how he's contacting mentioning all his different brothers. I'll be curious to hear what his deal is. Also Fitz. Did not see that tidbit at the end coming, and I'm usually good with that kind of stuff. Really wanna see how this all effects the movies going forward.

Absorbing Man was great. I was very much expecting a watered-down "He absorbs energy, making him very hard to kill" version to make it seem more realistic... but nope! Straight up comic-book powers. Touches something, becomes it, and super-strong/durable. I'm glad they did that and didn't chicken out.

And he should have stayed that clear plastic if he wanted to snoop around in the dark.

Yep, loved it, already better then most of first season.

Didn't see the Fitz thing coming and thought it was a great move. I wonder where they will go with that.

But yeah, Aborbing Man was the real deal and this just made me happy.

I was surprised that Simmons walked away thinking it wold help Fitz...and apparently stayed away for months.

Poor Xena...hopefully her demise is only a Comic Book Death.

But yea they did Absorbing man perfectly, and having him make an impromptu Ball and Chain was a nice touch

They refer to the guy with glasses as Whitehall, which is the surname of the Hydra agent "The Kraken", whom is fairly high ranking, so I assume that he's going to be the not-quite-big-boss that reports to Strucker in the lead up to the films.

Or Strucker might "feed" Kraken to SHIELD in an effort to save himself, much as he said at the end of... Cap 2.

Doesn't Coulson just say Simmons "left?"

Given the slightly erratic state Fitz was displaying, it might be a jump to assume she did so willingly, or if she even felt she had a choice.

I thought they meant she felt her being there was causing problems for him and that's why she left.

I watched this this weekend. Quite enjoyed it. Felt like it kept up the momentum gained toward the end of last season. I'm pretty excited to see where they go with this season.

Yeah, I took it as her thinking that her being there was making him worse, so in order to help him get better she left.

Of course, this had the opposite effect to that intended, but I reckon she'll return in a couple of episodes with some miracle cure or something.

Yeah, she'll spend a few episodes as a figment of his imagination and then she'll probably be back.

Either way it had a bit of a war weary tone to it which I like. Since this a group that has been handed it's worst defeat ever and been on the run pretty constantly for months now.

Um...yeah...what the hell?!

I mean I realize that they need to entice people to watch...but a double agent?!

I absolutely love Coulson at the end... "He turned to stone..but he could always do that..."

I think he makes the show...I really do.

He does always get the best lines, right from the very beginning with the comment about a light being out and he just felt he had to stand in the shadows.

So when Reyna picked up the obelisk (as they call it) did you notice the same markings that Garrett and Coulson carved?

You mean the fact that Skye points out to Coulson when she returns from the mission? Yeah, I noticed

Also, calling it now;
Skye's father is an inhuman, Skye is an inhuman, Raina is also an inhuman, the blue guy in Tahiti was Kree, Coulson and Garret have minor amounts of Kree DNA now, the symbols are related to the Kree, and the obelisk contains a Terrigen crystal (or is at least some means of prompting Terrigenesis)

Yes, Coulson gets the best lines.

And that it happened in the previous episode when Izzy pucked up the obelisk?

No. Can't say I did.
