I am thinking of getting some SH Terminators but I want to de-BA them. I know the Librarian comes with barely any BA iconography but not so sure about the terminators. Is it a feasible project or will I just likely end up ruining them?

You'd have to do some resculpting but it's doable. I'd just buy regular termies myself and repose them.

Absolutely this.

Keep the librarian if you want, sell the rest on the forums or ebay, then buy vanilla termies and pocket the ~$50 difference

Yeah it's not worth trying to de-badge them of their iconography. you might get away with scraping off the blood drops here and there but by and large the work/reward ratio is heaps skewed in works favour.

You'd be better off either painting them up as what ever army you intend to and just ignoring the Blood Angel icons.
Or sell them/set them aside/whatever and buy a few of the regular packs instead.

With the five different terminator kits available you could probably mock up close approximations of the Space Hulk Terminators anyway.

Just reworked my space hulk termies into Dark Angels, without too much difficulty, just time consuming. Not painted yet, but I'll post some pics when they are done.

Started converting the Space Hulk captain to a salamander, and it took quite a bit of effort, but his iconography was probably the most intricate so removing it became a proof of concept. I'll try and snap a picture when I get home.

Having said that, if you want the Space Hulk poses/sculpts you have little other options but to do it.

example of a DA Dark Vengeance terminators becoming Salamanders below (libby is a kitbash), i did 5 of these and I'm really happy with them. In that case the effort is definitely worth it as you will have a unique looking model.

I did this with the original "LE" space hulk. Turned them into imperial fists. I'd suggest instead of trying to remove all the blood drops repurpose them into gems for an ornate look maybe each gem is a polished birthstone of a former wearer of the armor slain in battle.

Ohh, I like the birthstone idea...

If you just want to take out the shoulder markings, a dremel tool will work. You can also do this to get rid of dark angels markings on DV.

However... If you want to REALLY take out all the iconography, I don't think it's possible without some herculean effort. Aside from the right shoulder pad, there are many full symbols in awkward places like Omnio's groin area, Gideon's shield and Zael's chest badge. Many have right leg iconography, such as Claudio, Zael, and Goriel where it's clearly the wings with the blood drops. There are some banners (or whatever you call the things that go above the head) specific to the blood angels, too -- Valencio, Lorenzo, Claudio, and Gideon all have them, and other than removing them, there's not much you can do (they all have some combination of angels, wings, blood drops drops).

And, if you want to get rid of all the blood drops/gems, there must be at least 60+.

And that's not even including Calistarius, whom I haven't gotten around to painting yet.

Took these last night with my phone, still much clean up work to be done.

I'm also unsure if I'm going to add anything to the chest (skull or something)

I'm still unsure what to do with the wings on the feet. I had a scale pattern making tool but it seems to have gone missing during the move, but the area is a bit small for scales anyhow.

Might just fill it in with some Green Stuff or something else

@jb1981 -- that looks awesome! Love the shoulder.

Looks like you took off the drops from the cloak and the iconography from the storm bolter and glove, too. Nice and clean. I guess you just removed the head thing. You can always use that for a bit for a banner somewhere else

I think the right shin pad is way too tight to mess with, at least unless you first remove the base. On Lorenzo, the markings are not that obvious, anyhow, so my inclination would just be to leave it be.

I'd love to see it if you removed the chalice from the chest and replaced it with a skull. That's cutting way too tiny for my skill level.

What tools do you use for removal? Dremel, knife, and sandpaper?

Pretty much nailed it, Dremel, hobby knife and some foam sanding blocks (works wonders for curved surfaces)

Nice work jb.

Personally my recommendation to Olgerth would be to sell them, buy some regular Terminators, maybe even buy an upgrade pack from Forgeworld and use them instead.

Not that it CAN'T be done, but it's going to be a lot of work and if you're new to the hobby and aren't so good with knife work and lack the tools (no idea if you are or not) then you'll probably made it look worse than it was to start with.

Given the price you see SH Terminators on ebay, I'd be more tempted to try and sell them for enough money to buy a box of regular Terminators and maybe an upgrade kit of your desired chapter from Forge World, then spend the time you would have spent cleaning the SH Terminators in converting the vanilla Terminators (reposing, making scenic bases, etc).

I'd probably just buy a box of termis and repose them, like some guys above said. Once you take all the iconography off all you really have are terminators with flashy poses, you could probably recreate these poses with more ease than taking all the BA stuff off the SH ones.
