Okay, one more time...


Changes:

- corrected the corners of the mouth.
- cut off and re-sculpted the ears in the correct place. Yeah there still rough at this point.
- thinned the nostrils down.
- shaved down the chin even more...
- Softened the brow.

The mouth is not opened as wide now, but the head also looks less stretched out than before. It still needs a little sanding and tweaking. So what do you think?

Good work once again. All in all she is sexy now. Just about there I'd say.
Ears of course, as you said, aren't quite perfect.
The only other thing I noticed, she seems to have some 'scars' around her mouth. Not sure if that is just discoloration from the multiple stages of putty or if its an indent but . . . it is a thing i noticed that stops this from being *PERFECT*

Also, that last picture is scary awesome.

Yeah, she needs a little more sanding and leveling out of the surface. Everything else is molded, So we're just waiting on the head now.

As said, man, muuuch better, most would be surprised how much just having the ears in the right place makes a difference. But she is far more feminine now, and has more of an exctesy sort-of sigh expression, which I really like, subtlety goes a long way. Now, when she hits the paint, she should be dead sexy...

It was loads of fun to watch you work and re-work the Daemon Princess... each time it got a little closer to what it needed to be and now it's perfect.

I do believe the sanding + leveling and a paintjob would make her look complete

I think you've definitely got it in this one as far as sculpting goes. She is most certainly looking sexier! and the viewpoint from the top of the horns works really well and magnifies the angriness of her!

Daemon Princess:

Well, here is the final version of this head. I'd say its a great improvement over the earlier versions. Since, here posed body is already boxed up for casting. I used a body that cast to practice painting on. So, at least she's no longer a floating head.
Once I've cast it this weekend, I'll be clipping the hair off and sculpting a new tentacle version. I plan on sculpting it tentacles straight, so they can be immerse in warm water and posed any way you want later.




























Soul Grinder:


I've made quite a bit of progress on the Soul Grinder, but I still need to process all the progress shots. Anyway here's teaser.





Lacking inspiration on how to finish the Farseers head I turned to "Liber Chaotica". There I found this version of a Keeper of Secrets head. With the cone-head and jewels is looks quite Eldar-ish. So, I'm going with a version of this for the head.

Loved reading the Liber! The Slaanesh and Khorne sections were especially inspiring, as I'm sure you have noticed.

Fantastic blog so far - i thought of doing something very similar to this ages ago for fantasy demons, but gave up on the idea after I realised how much sculpting and casting skills were needed. Its nice to see someone prepared to invest the time and money!

Whilst that daemon's head has been getting progressively better, there is still something not quite right about it to me that i can't put my finger on. Not that my sculpting skills are good at all, but perhaps the upper lip protrudes too much and the eyes are too sunken? Cast the one you've made now and then experiment imo

Keep up the fantastic work, can't wait to see some of these painted!!

There seems to be a problem with photobucket, as for some reason I cannot see any of your newer pictures, Sersi. I'm rather eager to see your updates, but all i see is a box saying

with the head, the body seems very thin, maybe some armor or other addons will give it more character

btw i really like the way you have portrayed the female beauty in this army without scarring the hell out of everyone, its still scary but from an artist's point of view it looks very well done

Okay, started on the Soul Grinder's final head. Its still very early in the re-sculpting process. The Liber Chaotic head is really working form me. Its eldar-esque, which fits the fluff. It's got a crown of six horns, that I like and which allow me to incorporate Slaanesh's sacred number into the model again.





Oh, by the way the pencil lines on her sides mark where I'll be gouging in cuts from her hands clawing her belly. I still may add some raised veins ti the belly. We'll see...







Admittedly, this is not the most forgiving angle, but I think the heads coming along nicely.



Looking at this picture makes me wonder if mechanical legs could work using just this part of the sculpture.

Looking at her now the eyes are a bit to large, but that's easily fixed. I may open the eyes, at least partially. Or scrunch closed really tight as if she's in great pain. I'll look for some reference and do some sketches.

Have you thought about giving her pointy ears also it might be worth trying to consciously echo the stag horns a lot of Farseers have?

Very good at being super disturbing.

Firstly, i would definitely go with some raised veins/the cuts digging in cause itll give a really nice stretched and painful detail.

Also, had a thought that for the legs, how about going halfway on them and have them sort of partly flesh and partly mechanical? sort of terminator-esque but with the slaneshy slenderness?

Honestly bud, I would go straight mechanical, as to emphasize that she is a warped prisoner with no purpose but to act as a tortured weapon. I think there are many strong organic elements in the figure, and it might be overwhelming to have anything else be organic, as the strong organic figure, and strong mechanical throne/prison would accent each other well.

I believe your right about the design needing to be balanced. Well, I do have this alternate head that basically a cracked and damaged Farseer helmet. I'll post it up in a bit.

I am digging the helmet/horns/crown look you have going so far. It is a nice effect so far.

The DP looks great. The wire neck makes her look like a rock-em sock-em robot

I'm not really liking the preggers head to much thou. The drawing looks awsome so maybe Im just not seeing it yet.

I really like the head. Eyes scrunched would look good if you could make them work, she looks a little... peaceful. I also really like what you did with the toes.

Hey Sersi, love this thread, and been following it rather closely, if you wanna stay rather fluffy, then mechanical legs are definately the way to go. I'm assuming you've got 'dex for the army, and if so, have a quick re-read of the back story on the Soul Grinders.

Or if you don't want to, it's basically that a daemon makes a pact with the "Masters of the Forge of Souls", who, utilising materials absorbed from wars to create the machines for daemons to bind to, a la Defilers in the stock model's case. It goes on to say that after a while (decades to centuries) the mechanical for will shift and warp in appearance depending on the daemon posessing it.

My idea would be to perhaps base the legs on the stock model, obviously altering it in ways to appear more Slaaneshi, and I don't mean putting 6 boobs on each leg

Perhaps having something simple like altering the armour on the legs to match the rest of your army (like the plate mail on some of the princesses) or maybe having the legs mutating from flesh to machine, closer to the daemon, the more legs/muscleature and having the usual mechanical claws for the feet.

Or just drop those ideas entirely, give her two legs, stick her on an open top palanquin and have some daemonettes carry her around. Food for thought anyways!

So, I've been working on the Soulgrinder. I settled on a combination of things:


1. Farseer helmet - this is without the most iconic element of the Farseer imagery I've studied. So, this had to be incorporated some how. So, I've opted for a helmet with a shattered and cracked face plate that will partially reveal the eldar's face.

2. Horns - Horns are fundamental to Chaos in general and Slaanesh in particular. So 6 horns will be punch through holes in the sides if the helmet, similar to Chaos Possessed. I also mimics the stylized crest on the Farseer Helmets.

3. Soul Stones - Since I envision this as a primarily psychic weapon. The entire throne will be encrusted with captured Eldar Soul Stones, used to amplify the Farseer's powers.

4. The throne and with walker legs I now envision as a corrupted wraith-bone construct. Similar to something like the Wraithlord. I may have to rethink the working of the knee joints and do a bit of re-sculpting. But it should be simple to do.


Got all that? Really? Okay.

Claw Marks:


Its kind of hard to see with everything being grey, but the claw marks are pretty deep, with torn flesh built up where they stop. It's a bit of subtle detailing but it whould really standout when painted. The reason the hands don't look like the match up with the claw marks because they're no longer glued in place...in case your wondering.







Full Body:

Lastly here are a few full body pics of the Farseer. I added shackles to the praying hands as added to the pleading aspect of the model. Is she praying to Slaanesh? Begging for Death?, of Calling on the Eldar gods for salvation? Cursing them? Who can say...she's probably done all of the above over the course of her millennium long imprisonment.
