It looks good, but something about the eyes just doesn't sit right with me. They look wonky to me.

Beautiful monsters? Ohhh...I like that. I may have just found the "Imperial Translation" of my armies name.

Wehrkind:

The worst part is that we waited so long, for them and they should have been better.

Melkhiordarkblade:

I intended the current hole to be the functional barrel. However, I'm open to re-designing it. Maybe something eldar-ish? I'll be using your chalice of tears and blood idea for sure. The Daemonette with a Hookah pipe will be included as well.

The Chimera idea is brilliant as well, I've even seen a blog that had daemonettes riding white lions. Hmmm...must investigate further.

Reanimator:

Thank you!

SpacePanzee:

You sir are correct. I'll probably use mine to create a Slaaneshi shrine / terrain piece.

OtokonoZenyou:

Thank you. Just keep practicing you will improve...I can see my on progress on an almost daily basis. The most important thing is to keep sculpting.

l33tninj4:

Good...The goal in a few weeks will be to get an equally disturbing paint scheme going for the lot.

l33tninj4:

Ebay is probably you best bet, but don't pay more that $35 for one. Ebay prices can just be ridiculous sometimes.

anthonym0109

I wouldn't sell that army just yet, just go into you local GW they will teach you all that you need to know...really. And you can always ask for help in the tutorial section, we have lots of helpful members on Dakka.

Rabid Ferret:

Mcfarlane's Infernal Parade line actually.

Oh this will happen...I just need to figure out how to execute the idea.

Slarg232:

Thank you.

45 items in your painting que? Oh how I wish...put I just keep sculpting and converting what I think is cool, I have hundreds of un-painted models...

Bunnygurl:

Thanks you!

Gameandwatch:

Hey long time no see! Your right about the head. I forgot that his typical oponets will be only ankle height. It's and easy fix though. Thanks.

Hi, I left the eyes intentional vague. It seems to me a living avatar of the God/Goddess of Sensation would have hundreds of senses undreamed of by man. That and having no eyes is creepier. I kind of want to work in a "see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil" them. how freaky would some mouth-less daemonettes be?

That said the other variant heads will have eyes, and I'm working on a "Minotaur" head.

PS. What is you avatar from? I maybe a little bent in the head for saying this, but that chicks hot.

Wehrkind:

Thank you. I went through enough versions to get here... But I guess its the result that counts!

Considering making my Necrons the same way, finding a way to blur out the mouths and noses on their faces, make them just a pair of eyes staring out of a skull-mask. Maybe even no eyes for the more elite units.
Hmm.
You know, maybe some masquerade masks for some of your demons, a lá Eyes Wide Shut, would add a further creepy feel? Perhaps a small squad of bemasked daemonettes around a couple of guardsmen who don't know what to do. Though I suppose then we're getting more into diorama territory rather than individual models...

Hi Guys,

Just a quick little post on what I'm working on at the moment.

I've started working in wax. Went out bought a melting pot, wax pen, tools, etc. This stuff is very cool! I've already cast the KOS in wax, and I'm going with heated tools to carve in new details and buffing the smooth areas to a glass-like finish. I'm molding the Soul Grinder so I can cast it in wax as well. Oh the things you can do with this stuff.

I've started using wax for the sprues in my molds as well. you can form the wax tubes into any shape you like by hand and then just melt the sprue to the part with the wax pen.

Here's what the waxer looks like:

Here's a close up on the pen tip:

Basically its just a metal box with a transformer in it. When you depress the stub on the pen it completes the circuit and heats the pen tip so you can carve, or draw on lines of melted wax. It comes with lots of different tips for different applications. Lots more on this later.

Here I'm cutting up some old silicone molds to use as filler in new molds. I'd never tried this before but is work great and can save you a ton of money. I ended up using a 2/3rd's less silicone by just cubing and old mold and filling the mold boxes with them. Also the silicone chunks helped stabilize the parts in the mold so they don't move around when the silicone is poured and the mold vacuumed.

The molds before:

With silicone cubes:

I figure if I can recycle my mold molds at least once I've reduce my silicone cost be half. Anyway I got fly but I post up some more stuff tonight.

More Later!

Awesome! I DEMAND a full on wax tutorial! I have ~50 pounds of the stuff laying around for waxing leather, which is about 30 more than I could possibly need, so a second use for it would be great!

Good call on cutting up old molds too. I do that a lot now, especially because I always have about half again too much silicone mixed up. I just keep an empty blister pack or two nearby and fill them, then cut the resulting silicon bricks into chunks.

Also, what sort of vacuum system are you using? I am actually in the process of pricing out and buying stuff to pull vacuum on my molds and possibly castings, and would LOVE to find out how you are doing it.

Plus, put my name on a Soul Grinder I suspect that will be my Hellcannon
