All kidding aside, that's an amazingly impressive collection you have there and I am quite jealous. I know you'll make them look awesome and it will be a massive sight to behold when they deploy on the tabletop. Really looking forward to seeing how you work through them and I know the results will be excellent.

I wish to apologise for the lack of solid updates on this thread but to be honnest, my holidays didn't left me as much free time as I thought.
Even worst, I fell back into my old addiction: Blood Bowl. My local club is running a league so I brought my undead team back from the basement (my first GW models box, bought it 18 years ago!).
My only painting time was dedicated to this:

But no progress on the prince and my other CSMs

I hope to be able to post something new about my CSMs soon.

Cheers!

Wicked, I've been thinking about converting one of those for use as a DE Scourge Solarite.

You should get some pics of your BB guys up too :nods:

Hey guys!

It's been two month since I last updated this thread nd I started to feel a little shameful about it

I had not much free time during the last two months and the last Zelda on Wii took away most of it...

But I finally managed to get something done, and here are the results:

Progress on the Sorceror dreadnought:

Still a lot of details to do, and the icon pole broke just above the limit of the pin I've used to maintain it...nothing I can't fix however.

The second Thousand Sons terminators squad is waiting for some gold:

I even worked on my Nurgle Dread:

Again, some details to paint but it should soon be done.

Now, for those who are interested in this game, here's my latest Blood Bowl team:

So, what do you guys think?

The detail that you're pulling out is superb! The eyes on the Tz dread are fantastic, and is the nurgle dread gs'd or is that how you bought it?

Thank you guys!

@tinfoil: I'm glad you like it! I was really affraid to do a messy job with the eyes.

@Biohazard: I'm trying to finish all my ongoing projects, after the dreads and termies I'll get some paint done on my World Eaters.

@Arm.chair.general: I'll try!

@Moltar: Thanks man! Now that I managed to get some free time regularly, I'll try to get much more done. BTW any chance for us to se some more of you stuff?

@kitch102: It's all AOBR dread, Bitz and good ol' Greestuff!

Now, here are some pics of my latest progress on Zahak, the TS prince:

I've added 2 snakes on the shoulder pads (this prince is named after Zahak, the demon king blessed by Ahriman in the Persian mythology, which had 2 snakes on the shoulders who fed themselves from the brains of sacrificed teens).

I've also reworked the flames on the Khopesh.

I still have some more flames to ad, but if you guys want to share your technique for sculpting flames, please, do so.

So, what do you guys think?

As a big fan of 1K Sons, I heartily approve of this blog. The conversions are really nice, the painting's great, and the hats are very much like the actual set's.

Zahak looks intense! I like the added snakes and think those flames are coming along nicely. Really excited to see this guy get done in the future.

I've been slammed with company visiting and work stuff for months, leaving very little, to no, time for the hobby :( I've managed to build a little bit, but not paint anything. Hopefully soon (maybe even this week) I'll actually get to paint something. I'm definitely ready to get back to it.

Thanks you guys for your comments!

Next step is to finish the flames and the edge of the Khopesh blade, then I'll fix some minor details on the helmets before applying a black undercoat.
For some time I've considered to add some more Tomb kings bits on the arms or legs, but I couldn't find the bits I was looking for at a reasonable price.
Biohazard had the same idea for his latest WIP daemon prince:
http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/30/399556.page
I fear it would give Zahak a too bulky look, what's your opinion?

So, I will start to paint him soon (understang within weeks) but there's something I still don't know: how to paint him?
Of course I'll stick to the original Thousand sons colour scheme as much as possible (for the helmet and armor) but what about the skin, eyes, flames...
I thought I could paint his skin a light grey or black with purple highlights, what would look better?
Should I paint his eyes a bright blue and try an OSL?
What colour for the flames? Blue to pink?
Advices are more than welcome !

Im planning on extending the shin guards all the way around the leg to look like his power armour from before he ascended. There are quite a few pieces in the Necrosphinx kit which would fit the TS theme perfectly. I like the idea of the pale grey with purple in the deepest shadows maybe?

Pale grey with dark purple? I keep it in mind for the tests. Necrosphynx is indeed a source of fin bits for Tzeentchian stuff, like the soul grinder I've built.

I have redone the flames on the Khopesh tonight, using a better tool. Here's what it looks now:

When the GS will be fully hardened I'll file the blade to give it a smoother aspect.

What do you guys think?

It's looking awesome and I'm liking the extra armour. For the skin wasn't Magnus the Red red skinned? So something with that thought of feel might make sense.

Thanks.

A very dark red, or a black with some very light red higlights perhaps. A too colorful red might look odd among a blue/gold and bone army. I put it on my test list.

Thanks Jake!

I've worked on Zahak these last days.
I filed the khopesh blade, undercoated the model and started to paint it.
After some tests for the skin I went for a blueish grey, allowing me to make an easier fading effect between the blue breastplate and the skin of the back.

I've still got a lot to do, and some parts of the skin looks messy, but here are the first results:

Advices? Opinions?

Hey there!

I've worked on Zahak today. I think it should be done within two or three weeks.

First, I've decided to give up the work on the skin at this stage; I know it's not perfect, but I'm finally happy with this job (after all it's only my fourth attempt in two days ) and I doubt I could d better before a long time.
On the armour plates however, I find some satisfaction, but looking at the following pics, I realise the blue is not as good as it looks IRL (pics are a bit dark)
Here are the latest pics:

So I've started to paint the helmet stripes, and when it'll be done, I'll start the gold.
Do you guys think I should go for OSL eyes (I don't master this technique yet and fear to end up with a dirty mess), or regular glass eyes?

Any advice or opinion is welcome.

Cheers!
Joe

Thank you all for your comments guys!

@inmygravenimage: I'll go for glowing eyes, the gold I've done today makes it mandatory as you'll see. I'll make warious attempts on a rhino part to se which colour would look better.

@dsteingass: He is!

@Skits: I'm glad you like what you saw here. Your conversion are fething great, I'm not sure I could do something as good as your heads! and I'm not mentioning your paintjob (Niu is my painting reference for this army - even if I know I'll never reach such a high quality!)

Small update: the stripes are done and I've started to add some gold. The problem is that the gold makes the highlights on the armor less visible and I'll have to re-work them.
Here's what it looks like today:

Any idea? suggestions?
