I wouldn't be surprised if there were some new sculpts due to come out for them at some point given their relative strength in the codex. There's also that Eldar community rumour engine pic that could be from a new SS bike.

I understand people wanted it to be something else, i wanted something else too. But it is really tiresome that most of the posts are just endless complaining. It's Custodes, you don't like it, we get it, but can we now please just discuss the release?
On actual topic, I am a bit confused about what the guys in skirts are. Are these a new unit, or just some HQ guys?

Secondly, I’m not for one second telling people how they should feel. People can feel however they like. I’m talking about what people do. To be perfectly frank, I’d like to have a thread where people can discuss a new release without it being full of complaints about what it isn’t.
And finally, if you think a single post the day before is building up “hype so much” and you then find the release “offensive”, then I’m honestly lost for words.
You might want to read my post again there champ since only the first paragraph was aimed at you specifically (if it irks you that 'xenos' players lump power armoured dudes together, don't lump them together) and nowhere did I say that I found the release offensive.
Saying there's going to be a "HUGE" release that we just "wouldn't want to miss" isn't building up hype? Weird.
“Champ”? So we’ve gone from calling me a hypocrite to trying to patronise me. Classy.
So your use of the phrase, “not only underwhelming but also offensive”, didn’t mean you were offended. Okay. If you want to reply without insulting or patronising me go ahead. Otherwise I’m done, “champ”.

Unless I missed something, you didn't really talk about the Hetareon type guys there.
Well seeing these are 40k custodians not surprising. Or did they say anything these would be getting 30k rules? Currently it looks like one way only ie in 40k you can use these and 30k models that will get rules but in 30k you can use only 30k models. And Hetareon's don't have model so they aren't likely getting 40k rules at least yet.
As in, the video didn't mention them and the current term for "Custodes veteran unit" is "Hetareon".
Anyhow the two studios only -mostly- ignore one another. It'a not actually implausible these are hets and we just need to wait for FW to do an upgrade kit for the variant spears.

They look a lot like the Custodes in the old Heresy artwork. I’d guess they’re some kind of elite unit.
To be honest, with the "Codex without miniatures" vs "Proper codex release ol' style"; we have actually had three of the latter in 8th edition, with the rest being the first.
Codex: Space Marines, Codex: Death Guard and Codex: Adeptus Custodes are Codex like the old ones, with a bunch of miniatures with them.
But to be honest I prefer that in between they release Codex for other factions without miniatures, instead of wait 2-4 years for the hope and fear that my faction will be or not be uptadet to the current edition.
Dakka does have White Knights and is also rather infamous for it's Black Knights. A new edition brings out the passionate and not all of them are good at expressing themselves in written form. There have been plenty of hysterical responses from both sides so far. So we descend into pointless bickering with neither side listening to each other. So posting here becomes more masturbation than conversation.
ERJAK wrote: Forcing a 40k player to keep playing 7th is basically a hate crime.
Honestly if I were to collect a Marine force chances are it would be Custodes !
As for the complainers remember people most people complain than compliment; especially online so there is probably a biased opinion going on here; esp when several xeno factions were secretly hoping that GW's next big release was going to be xeno codex.
I must admit, they are some of the most beautiful sculpts GW has ever produced. Those Terminators are so cool, their poses are super badass and they have really nice proportions. And those hover bikes... I can't even.
I can't wait to see their rules and how they're vitalising this army. Hearing how a unit of 3 of the Terminators took on 30+ Orks definiately grabbed my attention. Granted, they may not be that epic now, as it was a play test, but still, sounds like they're sticking with the fluff and how they can take on armies with only a handful of men

You see the bold bit above? Many =/= me. The fact remains, if the outcry on Facebook is anything to go by, that many people seem to be offended by the release. Why? Probably because they feel that GW should have done existing codexes for major factions before creating a new, niche one. Do I agree with this? Not really. Do I emphasise with it? Definitely.
Calm yourself, I didn't mean to offend I just hate repeating myself when I shouldn't need to. Your previous assertion was entirely hypocritical and ironic. "I hate it when [term to lump players together] lumps players together." You get that right? You see how it's ironic and hypocritical right?
I believe you are exagerating the impact of this, An Actual Englishman.
If most people forgived them 15 years of Kirby with only 2 of Roundtree, do you seriosly believe that in 6 months anybody is gonna remember this "overhyping" problem?

It entirely depends on what GW decide to do Galas. This is the only announcement from which I've seen such an amount of bitterness so publicly. If GW next release, say, Wolves and had a big thing about Russ returning along with Emperor's Children and Fulgrim I think they'd lose players for sure.
This is from Haechi on ATT, a guy that know that Custodes where coming this february before anyoune could imagine that could be a posibility:
“TFrom my inside infos, the TS codex was delayed until unknown times and therefore there was a big gap in the previsions for February. I guess now for some reason it's back on schedule ! So now we have Custodes-Thousand Sons-T'au-Necrons-Dark Eldars-Harlquins.”
Lady Atia said that a big change for Tau was coming the first trimester of 2018. I still believe this will be the "Year of the Xenos".
But take all of this with a grain of salt, we live in chaotic times, and is not the first time GW changes release schedules, delay products, etc...

I still believe that neumatic from the GW rumour engine was from a new wartrakk. Lady Atia said that new ork vehicles were coming (A new war buggy, etc...)
And about the "Year of the Xenos":.. yeah. We, Xenos player, are the third group behind Chaos and Imperials. I don't know why people still don't want to admitt that. I have my Tau, my principal army, shelved until they become playable without spamming Commanders and Drones. But I chose to not be angry about that months and months.
I know that for people with only 1 army it sucks. But at some point one needs to decide if it is worth it to keep being angry.
Now, when I'm angry for something (Like the 7-man plague marine box, the GUO being 20€ more expensive than the LOC and BT), I write a email to GW. And then I drop the subjetct from my mind because it doesn't give me anything but grieve to be thinking about that all the time.

For these to work as Hetaeron FW would also need to provide variant armour. Those are TERMINATOR armoured guys while Hetaeron's are on standard custodian armour. You need wee bit more than spear to change armour type.

I just had game where lone HQ guy(and not even best of the best of that) went through marine praetorian, squad of marines and for added fun almost went through another squad(only reroll for morale saved) almost drawing the game for Imperials. I had serious trouble trying to stop that guy. Albeit got bit unlucky with number of 2+ saves he was eating having eaten like close to 100 bolter shots, several lascannon shots, sicarran main cannon and 28 autocannon shots.
Wonder how good the 8th ed rules for HQ will be? In 7th ed those buggers can be nightmare to stop.

You’re arguing over a detail rather than the point I was making. If anyone is “offended” by GW releasing something they’re not interested in then I think the problem is theirs, not GW’s. Whether you are or are not included in those people you claim exist is a different issue, but I’m sorry if I misinterpreted that situation.
Fact remains you’re calling me a hypocrite for simply citing that people who have called themselves Xenos players (their label not mine) have lumped chaos and Imperium together as if they are one faction. I expressed mild irritation, you started with the insults. And with that I’m done conversing with you unless and until I get a civil response.

Perhaps. But it seems evident that many out there are not happy with the way that Xenos races as a whole seem to be treated.

Not the terminators dude.
The elite looking guys that you apparently missed are in the cabinet. It's four new units: Captain general, terminators, Hetareon-looking guys and jetbikes.

I have recipe that allows me to paint gold to a reasonable standard very quickly (Stormcast player ftw!) So even if they come out in late feb. I should have plenty of time to get them ready for adepticon if they're something worth taking and my would they be pretty on the table.

I don't think I could have been any more civil. Again, if you read my original post where I quoted you, you'd see that I didn't insult you at all. My disagreement with you is that you kept claiming my stance is different to what it actually is. I agree, if people are offended by GW releasing something it is 'their' problem more than GWs, but it is a problem of GWs creation and one that will cost them money, ultimately.
Bro, you can't say you don't like it when people lump groups together while lumping groups together! It is irrelevant if they gave themselves the label or not. The simplest way to explain what we are seeing is as such; those who have had no new model releases are jealous of those who have had new model releases. It just so happens that Imperial armies and Chaos armies have all had new model releases, while the Xenos factions haven't.
On the topic - this was an awful reveal because it was badly handled and poorly timed so it has created much

You're only tired because you didn't embrace the drinking game proposed many pages ago. If you did, you'd be very jolly and/or very dead by now.
As a self-sufficient army Custodes need the current models to be a Troops choice, which leaves their former role as power armored Elite open for someone else to fill. I assume that's what the skirt guys are for - broadening with weapon options (and possibly special rules) available to the power armored units in the army while keeping the core of the army identifiable (dudes with bolter sticks).
JSG wrote: Does anyone else remember the days when people used to dream of Custodes minis?
I do. Used to be all the rage when the card game came out way back when. It is worth pointing out these days, and it's why I'm not surprised at the Custodes's popularity or that GW means to capitalize on it. Took them long enough, really.
ERJAK wrote: Can we all agree that the jetbikes are stellar and that it'll be a crying shame if they're not at least reasonably competitive on the tabletop?
I'm afraid not. I don't like bikes in general and making them fly doesn't change that.

Sorcerers can still mutate, and do - and they have a tendency to be very verbal about their wants and desires to each other, so maybe he got put in there as a time-out?
