What's the front AV on that car? How far did it move before impact? That looks like a ST8 hit at least.

Thank you all for your wishes!
My wife is recoving well, and since it wasn't her fault, insurance is taking over.
We're both very gratefull for her guardian angel, who definately worked over time and amassed a lot of good karma on Monday - he deserves a promotion
The Mercedes is a complete write off, but if everything goes to plan she can order a new one next week.
I suggested a Leopard 2 tank, but after a good smack on my head, I agreed to either a Mercedes GLK or E-class...
Damn, now she'll have the bigger car....sigh
As mentioned last week, I stoped my work on the Can Opener project and started on "something with a heavy APC".
Project name is "ORKALYPSE NOW"
Orkalypse Now will involve a heavy Dencaran APC and a squad of IG troopers under attack by some Orks (even though I am not sure if even one Ork will be visible).
For the APC I was planning something special. You all know that the Dencarans build big
ZEUS, ATHENA, HERCULES...you get the idea
Browsing through the net, I stumbled across this beauty.
Out of which I created this scetch
Which translates to this:
all the modules are seperatable
With this I can add an interior (if I ever feel like it)
With the basic build complete I started to add details
As usual you can see a lot more images (45+) in my Dei Greci blog: http://fischers-design-shop.blogspot.de/2012/08/ponos-apc-1.html
So what do you think?
I hope you like todays update and I look forward to your C&C.
Cheers

Wow. That's incredible!
Your scratchbuild skills never cease to amaze and inspire me. Very well done.
Question- what is the thickness of the card you use? I have a supply of .060 and it's not easy for me to work with. I know my techniques are novice, but what you do in an hour I'd do in a month (and not as well).

He is using 0.40" or 1mm- that is the best stuff for scratching. 0.60" is the thickness of a Chimera Hull.
That is fantastic Klaus! How long did it take you to scratch that out?

Thanks
Well I started with the sketch on Friday (July 27th), after I spilled the news on the Can Opener project.
I think I even started the first cuts on the 27th - 21:52 says the camera - so that's about 5 days....even though a little disrupted by my wifes accident.
@ Skalk Bloodaxe - most of my building I do with 1mm plasticard. However on this built I started off with 1.5mm card for the track section and base hull (since they are moduar and can be taken apart), most other pieces are done with 1mm, but some of the finer details like the hatches, armor plates on the sides are done with .5mm card.
I hope this helps
@ SilverHayabusa - well I was thinking of at least 2 squads, or a full Ogryn squad? Not sure - going by Imperial standards it could probably hold an entire platoon. What do you think?
Cheers
Klaus

Well, what are the dimensions of the tnak? I know that it does not really correlate when you consider the GW scale is not really right, but it would give an idea of capacity. I think you are right when you say close to a platoon, though. I love it, dude, it's awesome....

That is what I meant about scale not being right. The stormlord has a capacity of 20. If this new tank is around the size of a stormlord, and considering it's dimensions, 75-100 IG no problem. Even though they don't actually fit..... Automatically Appended Next Post: What would this thing "count as"?

that referrence pic is a NOD tank?... interesting shape...the nose sure is something to get used to...deatils like the banners and smokegrenade launchers... man you are very quick with this project... one minor issue... what size are those rivets? for a tank this size and scale i thought you would have used smaller ones? just asking... no offence meant... they look a bit of the size i use, fully well knowing that they are always a bit bigger than they should...and as for tracks? will you cast your own set again?

Thanks guys
@Vik - well the rivets are my standard Dencara site, just like on the ZEUS, ATHENA, and HERCULES - we don't do goose bumps, we do PIMPLES
In regards to the tracks, the PONOS also uses the ones from the HERC
which I'm casting right now
In regards to the capacity, the Chimera has a troop compartment od 8x5 cm = 40cm2 and can hold 12 models = 3,33 cm2 per model
The PONOS haas a troop compartment of 12x8cm = 96cm2 = 29 models
So a full platoon should do, no?
Well, I added some more details like cables and more rivets
And with the track sections in place the PONOS looks like this:
And since I had some more time before hitting the bunk last night, I also added rivets to the track section
Cheers
Klaus
