It is funny, you really DID build yourself a CRASSUS ARMOURED ASSAULT TRANSPORT.

What are you using for gap filler? I notice the lines are all green. Is it regular GS, is it GW liquid GS, or is it something else?

Thanks for your responses, you're helping me become a better modeler.

@Skalk Bloodaxe - as gap filler I use Squadron (or MMD) Fast Drying Green Putty
http://www.amazon.com/Tube-Green-Putty-Squadron-Tools/dp/B000H7MVMG/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1344026202&sr=8-1&keywords=green+putty

It is usually a bit thick and pasty, but can thin it with a bit of the Revel Contacta glue and it almost becomes like liquid green stuff.
Dries really quick and it is easy to sand down to a smooth surface - for me this is simply the best.

Me too, is it stiff like mixed GS or is it a little less viscous? I am looking for something that isn't as stiff to gap fill with than GS. I fething hate GS..........

Well fresh out of the tube it is like mixed GS, but with the glue you can thin it very nicely - you can make it very liquid if needed - and with the added glue the conncetion in the gap becomes a lot more solid.
Oh, it smelsl really strong and aparently the vapors are harmful so only use it in a well ventilated area.
I hope this helps

Thanks guys!

Well, the PONOS nears completion!
First I added the exhaust grills and a 2-piece rear ramp

Then some details to the ramp

On Sunday I had finally enough track sections to complete the right side *YEAH!!*

I think they fit perfectly - don't they?

And finally I added some spent cartridges and a trooper firing form one of the troop hatches

During the next stages I will have to add damage, mount the luggage and other accessories, but I will do this as I build out the scene.

And here is a first teaser of the scene

Thank you for your time, I hope you enjoyed todays update and I look forwad to you C&C.
Cheers

that is a big shadow for the sponsons gun... ??? what have you in store for us?

the only thing of this remarably stunning piece of work is the exhausts... i think those look a bit less good then they could...

other than that... awesome indeed... now i need to go to your blog again to see the gun of that IG as i can´t figure out what it looks like...

Thanks guys,

@Vik - yes the exhausts could use a bit more love, but again, they are identical to the ones on the HERC, and once painted, they will be mostly black from the exhaust fumes...

So, lets see how "Orkalypse Now" is coming together.
First I positioned the PONOS on the board (Vik, you can see that it's the ramp that fooled you, not a sponson gun) and drew the outlines of the landscape

To make the diorama a bit more cineastic I sculpted some small explosions and bullet impacts

I will scatter them within the scene later on.

And now, all actors on the scene:

"I love the smell of fresh Napalm in the morning!"

I will add a whole bunch of muzzle flashes, mabye even the napalm stream for the flamer (though I'm not sure if that wouldn't be over the top). What do you think about the explosion in the foreground?
I'm also not sure if I should add some dead Orks...
...currently I think it is better without, so you don't see who or what is attacking, leaving it to your fantasy...
What do you think?

You can see a lot more detail shots of the individual trooper in my blog:

Stunning work, as always

Loving the weapon mods, Klaus! It would be a pity to have a totally unique transport with totally stock troopers in it What will you be using for heads?

I don't think there is room for the enemy on this one. My vote is for no orks.

I like the flame stream better than the explosion, but I think both would be too much. Maybe a smaller one on the side would still work

Looking forward to more!

Ok, ok, ok

So the explosion in its current location and the interaction of the troops doesn't look right. I will experiment some more with it...
No problemo

In regards to the helmets, I will most likely use the standard Dencara Guards model

I started the "head work" with the leader (BTW, I still need a name for him, so feel free to make some suggestions). I used the helmeted head with the cigar from the IG command squad sprue and shaved the helmet off

Then he received a proper steampunky mustache and a barret

I really like him

While the head cured I cleaned up the body and filled some gaps and stuff:

Still a lot to do though....

And since I had some PC left, here's a short step-by-step on the small explosions:
First I make a small ball of PC/GS and place it on the soda cap.

With my pointed needle tool I press down the outlines, fixing the ball firmly to the surface

Then I scratch/pull pieces of the PC/GS with the needle tool down

And finally I use an old pincer...

I wet the points and then grab pieces of the PC/GS and carefully pull it out

Unfortunately the PC/GS was already a while mixed, close to curing so I couldn't pull it as good or as far as normally possible

But I think you get the idea.
If I find the time over the weekend, I'll see if I can make a video of these and the muzzle flashes...

As said above I'm not really happy with the large explosion.
Though I don't really need the explosion and can go without it, here is a last try:

What do you think? Better? Or rather leave it off?

Again, thanks for your time and I hope you enjoyed todays update. Your C&C is welcome.
Cheers
Klaus

Clump foliage would definitely make the explosion better, I'm afraid the lichen just has that "shrubbery" look to it.
