well, praetor finally finished!! i loved painting this model, was a great way to get back into things.

i tried to do a few different things with this guy, mostly in the shading, to try and add depth and realism. i find yellow much harder to shade than some of the other colours ive used; dont want to make him look like a banana so, ive tried to keep it fairly subtle, but hopefully it has still added something? the pic with the face close ups is a bit over lit because the shoulderpads cast a massive shadow and made it hard to get a decent shot

well, i hope you all like him. all comments gratefully received!

Excellent work San, it's a beautiful piece. You did a great job on the yellow and the green blade really sets it off.

Thank you all very much! I was worried about the green being too much, so I'm glad you guys don't seem to think so.

@whalemusic - I totally should have. Maybe on one of the shins? /face palm.Ahh well, hope the enemies of the imperium can guess he's an imperial fist

OH-I Wanna get out of here

It's a super busy model to begin with, so I don't think you need it. Just would have been interesting to see where you got it on there.

Mostly, on my phone.

Honestly, it's pure nerd-porn. I love it, just faultless.

Fantastic job San, just here to echo what everyone else said really, stunning work! Really, the green isn't too much at all, just right.

Folks, you are all far too kind.

Well, like a bunch of people, I've been lured in by the new GW models . I'm not sure about the lore, but the models look pretty good! Gonna start with some marines, but I think the nurgle forces could also be a good chance to broaden my horizons.

Anyways, started putting them together this evening. Normally, I would paint helms separately but since these are push fit I thought I would assemble them at once. Also, I've got to learn to paint faster!

Well, I've made some progress on the first squad of primaris.

So far, base yellows in and some shading. Models are nice but...large!

That's a very nice yellow, shading looks great on the primaris.

Your Praetor has turned out awesomly, might have taken you ages but it shows in the end result.
Just keep reinforcing my jealousy at your yellow painting ability

Thanks so much folks!

Well, quick update today. I've been trying to resist urge to bore everyone with tiny updates but progress on Primaris squad still happening. Hoping to have something more substantial soon, but here is a quick snap as proof.

Im trying to bring the technique I used on praetor to whole squad. Higher contrast shading, multiple layer highlight, different weathering etc. Next step: oils wash!

Thanks Solar and Desubot! I'll be honest, I am a bit jealous of those that can paint quickly. I am painfully slow.

Still, oil wash is done. If I can get some time this week, hopefully next update will be finished squad

Yeah but in turn your results are spectacular. Now we got to see you get a game in !.

What are you washing the figure with?

I really wish I could get a game in! Sadly, I don't know many folks that play.

I washed the mini with Windsor Newton Burnt Umber oil paint. I find it gives a good result for figures that are a bit beat up. And it's great for streaks etc. The main issue is the gloss coat before and after.

Oil em up good.

do you paint the squad badge on manually? or am i blind and cant spot the black squad markings on the sheet? (also notice there is no imp fist decals in the new box? whats up with that.)
