Does that video start on it's own for you? It doesn't for me. Takes some interaction to get that spoiler. Much like a spoiler tag.

I know, crazy isn't it?

And if you think THIS is hardcore Mod Mode...whooo!

Look - once SEASON SIX of the TV SERIES is here, all bets are off in terms of 'spoilers'.

But spoiling BOOK 6 stuff here - huh, is that really hard to see how that's really not cool?

So if I confused the situation - sorry - that right there is what I'm trying to avoid.

I'm reading the TV SERIES thread - I don't want to come across BOOK 6 or 7 spoilers in the TV SERIES thread.

Is that hard to understand or follow?

Sure it requires interaction, but if that video isn't spoilered, I can understand if folks feel that the info discussed in it doesn't have to be either. Simple mistake on their part, is all. And doesn't require ban threats.

And yes, in terms of Dakka moderation, its a bit hardcore, in my opinion.

Can you point to one of my posts where it seems I'm confused or finding it hard to follow the rules of this thread?

My issue is your seeminly heavy handed response(and I'm not alone in thinking that) to simple misunderstandings on someone elses part. Thats all.

Never mind next season sigvatr. We'll doing it next week. From the promo, it seems the Battle of Ice (Siege of Winterfell) will begin in episode 10. This entire thread will have to be spoilered because that battle hasn't even begun yet in the books. When the show gives us a Victor, that will be a HUGE spoiler for book readers.

I'll type out a full response to Alpharius later tonight as I'm eating my tea now and I'm on my Kindle which is fiddly in the extreme.

Meh, a few days until the next and final episode of the season rolls in and this thread probably dies a week and a half afterward. Lets call the last dozen or so posts a mulligan and just spoiler everything for the next episode?

Just so clear, this:

 Shadow Captain Edithae wrote:
From Inside the Episode #9.

"When George first told us about this, it was one of those moments where I remember looking at Dan and saying its so horrible, but so good in the story because it all comes together. From the beginning, the very first time we saw Stannis and Melisadnre they were sacrificing, burning people alive on the beaches of Dragonstone and its really all come to this. Theres been so much talk of Kings blood and the power of Kings blood and it all leads ultimately, fatally to Shireen's sacrifice. And its one of the most horrible moments we've shot in terms of the emotion of it".

George RR Martintold them that Shireen is sacrificed. This confirms it then. Shireen is fethed in the books.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NfLScJVXBHQ

is the post that really should have been spoiler tagged in this thread, which is about the TV Series.

Thanks!

I am so confused. What are we supposed to spoiler now?

Anything that has not happened in the books yet? That'd be everything that happens in the series now.

Meta-information we get from interviews (as above) only?

Only stuff that we know for certain that would be a spoiler for the books?

If you impose rules, please, by all means, clarify them...and don't ban-threaten people. Rule #1.

Seriously!

I was having a bad day!

No one has been 'moderated' in this thread for spoilers.

Just do the Internet a favor and show some fething consideration for people reading a thread about the TV SERIES that don't want the BOOK SERIES spoiled!

Thanks!

not a book spoiler?

We're talking at right angles now. I'm differentiating between different types of spoilers.

"TV spoiler" = an event on the show which has not yet occurred in the books (Shireen's burning).
"Book spoiler" = an event in the books which has not yet occurred on the show. (The Wall. )

You are making a blanket ban on all spoilers, which I think is excessive in a thread dedicated to the show, which is rapidly overtaking the books.

I think the person who wishes to not be spoiled should also bear some responsibility for avoiding those spoilers. It shouldn't be solely the responsibility of everyone else to bend over backwards for them. That means avoiding a thread which you know will contain spoilers, or not watching the show because its overtaken the books

 Alpharius wrote:

Nevermind Season 6, we'll be in this situation next week when the Battle of Ice (Winterfell) begins as indicated by the Promo, and we (potentially) get a victor. That has not yet happened in the books, so the entire episode will be a spoiler. Are you going to impose your heavy handed blanket restriction on the entire thread next week?

But spoiling BOOK 6 stuff here - huh, is that really hard to see how that's really not cool?

TV viewers who do not wish to see spoilers from the books should not read a thread dedicated to the books.
Book readers who do not wish to see spoilers from the show should not read a thread dedicated to the show.

We know that Shireen is dead. The show killed her. And we know from the Inside the Episode segment that this isn't something D&D made up on their own, like Brienne going to Winterfell and Jaime going to Dorne. The Inside the Episodes segments are part of the show and therefore part of normal discussion in a thread about the show and should be expected by everyone reading the thread.

So if I confused the situation - sorry - that right there is what I'm trying to avoid.
[...]
Is that hard to understand or follow?

We're arguing past each other. I understand exactly what you're saying and have done from the beginning. What I am saying is that I disagree with how strict your restrictions are. I think its overzealous to the point of absurdity.

I'm reading the TV SERIES thread - I don't want to come across BOOK 6 or 7 spoilers in the TV SERIES thread.

You probably shouldn't be watching the show either, then.

I can make it really easy for you though, if the temptation is too much - I can suspend your OT Forum access it it helps?

Or perhaps you could involve another MOD for a second opinion and impartial mediation, when someone questions the wisdom of your decision? Instead of immediately jumping to the nuclear option.

But fine, whatever. I've made my point. I disagree but I'll obey in future.

Though the schadenfreude I expect to experience next week when Stannis dies and everything in this thread must be spoilered will be most satisfying.

*DISCLAIMER: Thats actually not a spoiler, because its just a guess.

His post came 45 seconds after yours. He was most likely typing it at the time yours was already posted. Tone, please. Everyone has a bad day, but you should be better than regular users. I highly appreciate you admitting to it, really, but it's better to then take a short break before getting back to it.

Thanks for the explanation. I was genuinely confused.

Fantastic!

I'm glad we're all back to being friendly book's that haven't been published yet non-spoilering pals.

And yes, I'm serious.

Apologies to any I've upset - as I was genuine upset at having a TWOW plot line spoilered.

Now, back to our regularly scheduled topic - and I cannot wait for the response to Episode 10 of season 5.

Cannot wait either. Last episode was a good, typical GoT one. Interested in seeing what Melissandre's magic actually does. Book-readers know what happens to Jon's story arc.

I really, really, really don't hope that the little brat at The Wall does what someone else does in the books. It would be bad, heavy-handed writing. Thumbs pressed!

Interested in how the arena fight in Mereen goes on and what happens to Tyrion. We'd nerdgasm if he suddenly climbed on the dragon. Tyrion on a dragon? Hell yes!

Last Dorne part was a lot better but Dorne remains being the worst part of the entire series so far.

Reaaaally excited. Also wonder how the Wights will make it across the sea. Excited for a Wun-Wun-situation

I don't think the Wights and Walkers have to cross the sea, do they?

It is just quicker that way - they'll just have to hoof it, and take a bit longer to get there, maybe?

Might want to avoid Episode 10 then. I expect the Stannis scenes regarding Winterfell will be chock full of spoilers. We're getting the Siege of Winterfell! Or at least the opening phases of it.

I'm sorry but its been so heavily foreshadowed, that its pretty much a foregone conclusion that Olly's fulfilling the role of Bowen Marsh.

If only they'd softened the animosity between Alliser Thorne and Jon, and indicated a growing mutual respect for each other following Jon's appointment of Thorne as First Ranger, then he could have fulfilled that role. The actor who plays him has been criminally underused, he's fantastic.

In general, the cast of GoT never ceases to amaze. Without a few very rare exceptions (Sand Snakes...lord...), the cast is superb! Really wish Daenarys would get more action / scenes to show her talent. She's a very talented actress, yet for the most part of season 5, she was sitting on a chair.

In regards to Jon...yes, I fear we know where it's going but I...we still hope for it not to turn out this way.

I thought we were all done with that?

The TV series and the Books diverge on quite a bit, and besides that, this thread is absolutely about what happens in...the TV series.

Who knows how the TV series and the books will diverge from this point forward?

Anyway, I'm looking forward to Episode 10 - and I'm really looking forward to season 6 of HBO's version!

Stuff that you wouldn't know if you hadn't seen the latest episode (or really, the last couple of episodes). Seriously, it's not that complicated. Not everyone watches every episode sunday night and keeps completely caught up, and some of us would like to be able to still be able to talk GoT with other fans of GoT with at least a hint of consideration for the fact that we're a couple episodes behind.

That might be a bit much!

I don't always get to watch the latest GoT episode the day it first runs, so I just stay away from this thread until I've had a chance to watch it.

It would be hard to insist on TV show spoilers in the thread about the TV series...
