From Inside the Episode #9.

"When George first told us about this, it was one of those moments where I remember looking at Dan and saying its so horrible, but so good in the story because it all comes together. From the beginning, the very first time we saw Stannis and Melisadnre they were sacrificing, burning people alive on the beaches of Dragonstone and its really all come to this. Theres been so much talk of Kings blood and the power of Kings blood and it all leads ultimately, fatally to Shireen's sacrifice. And its one of the most horrible moments we've shot in terms of the emotion of it".

George RR Martintold them that Shireen is sacrificed. This confirms it then. Shireen is fethed in the books.

Spoiler:
More than likely though in the books it will be Melissandre and Selyse working behind Stannis' back, since you know he left them at the wall.

You really need to spoiler that stuff - ASAP.

And it is getting a bit old, having to repeat that.

It isn't that hard to figure out what should be in spoiler tags, and that you should preface spoiler tagged stuff to let everyone know if it is in regards to the books or the TV series.

Is that directed at Victor or me?

If me, I don't get how this ought to be spoilered. Its all public knowledge now. This is a thread about the TV Show. The shows already killed the character in question, and D&D publicly discussed it in the Inside the Episode. The show is now overtaking the books. If book readers (which includes me btw) don't want to be spoiled by the show for the next book (which does not include me), they shouldn't be watching the Show or reading this thread.

(And likewise, if hypothetically there was a thread on Dakka Dakka about the books, tv viewers should not read it).

Cracking down on book spoilers is one thing, but cracking down on Show spoilers in a thread about the show itself seems rather overzealous and constrictive.

I am also confused as to what is supposed to be in spoiler tags or not. Spoiler tags used to be...used to spoiler book content, but as you can no longer spoil the books...huh? It's a thread about the series and all info on the last few pages is solely about the series or, rarely, comparing it to the books.

It's a thread about the series, it has [SPOILER] in the thread title...if someone goes in a thread and complains about the series being spoiled, I'd rather blame it on that special individual.

Really the only real book spoilers left will be revealed in Episode 10. We book readers will have next to nothing to blab about come Monday. I guess show readers with a vicious streak will be able to enjoy tormenting us now.

Yes, it was also 'aimed' at you - as well as anyone else doing it - and it is about BOOK spoilers.

It is really that simple - just please do it going forward and everything will just peachy!

Sheeesh, wasnt GoT at all, something out of a bad fantasy film imo.

Dont like Stannis now either

Didn't that happen in the book? I'm pretty sure Danny escaped on a dragon.

yes - it was - although it seemed mainly so GRM could troll the readers and not have Tyrion and Dany meet - something the Show got right. Hopefully she just goes for ride and then comes back to where her friends and Dragons are.

Honestly not bothered about that aspect - given that in the show (*) I don't think there is a single person left from her time with the Dothraki and she seems to be very much now the Targaryian Queen.

Jorah? It seems like he's getting pretty close to her not tossing him out of the city again. And Missandei?.
Also, it does matter a fair amount because (at least in my opinion):

Daenerys may be the actual Stallion that Mounts the World. She rebuilds her Khaleesar, marchers to aid Mereen/Yunkai, then hopefully will do the classically awesome Targaryen tactic of having your dragons fly between the armies, burn everything, and make the enemy crap their pants and quit.

Then what do you do with a Khaleesar, Unsilled, Dragons, sellswords, and some ships from Yunkai? You sail to Asshai like you were told by Quaithe (or she could just fly. Maybe it'll be a sidequest in the books before she returns), maybe pick up some more dragon eggs/some shadow priests, then head for the wall. After that, just head south, probably re-burning Winterfell (unless Baelish has it by then), then take King's Landing, ...etc.

The first place I actually wanted to read that was in Book 6, if at all possible.

It would be nice to potentially spoiler big plot events for the show since some of us are a day or two behind seeing the current series

And yes I know the thread title says spoliers within.

I have already granted that, Im simply asking for a little leeway and consideration since its a good thread to be involved in.

Does two extra clicks make that much of a difference if a huge plot event takes place on the show for those of us that may be behind?

Yes, I do. Note that I said "book spoilers" I.e spoilers from the books which have not occurred yet on the show.

The spoiler you're addressing is a show spoiler. Events which have occurred on the show, and are covered in the Inside the Show segments should be fair game for discussion in a thread about the show.

Then perhaps its unwise to read a thread dedicated to the show, no?
Next season will overtake the books completely, unless GRRM finishes in a year (unlikely given his track record). Will you then demand ALL discussion be spoilered?

But it's been a week and he still hasn't watched the Red Wedding. The wait for his reaction is killing me.

Seriously?

How is this:

Spoiler:

not a book spoiler?

You know, 'confirmation' of an event detailed in Book 6 - which isn't out yet.

That's something that should have been in spoiler tags.

But if people are having trouble understanding that stuff from a book that hasn't been released yet, or is something that happened in the books but hasn't happened in the TV Series yet should be spoiler tagged (see how the book vs. TV discussion is handled in the WALKING DEAD thread), I can make it really easy for you though, if the temptation is too much - I can suspend your OT Forum access it it helps?

I find this highly inappropriate....

I'd also point out that the way the Walking Dead thread handles it is the same as this thread. And that the Walking Dead thread isn't in the same position because they haven't caught up with the comics yet. Threatening to suspend OT priviledges in a thread titled spoilers and referencing another thread where what you want to happen isn't happening yet confuses me.

It really isn't that hard - spoiler tag stuff that happens 'only' in the books or that hasn't happened in the book OR TV series yet.

Simple as that.

Thanks!

By that process if the book doesn't come out before next year we'd have to spoiler the entire conversation because it might not have happened in the book yet (like we did with the books because it might happen in the show)....

Ban-threatening users for trying to understand a rule. Classy.

If we followed your new rule, you do realize that this means putting EVERY post in spoiler tags from this point on as everything in the series didn't happen in the books before and vice versa if the new book gets released earlier than expected (read: this century)? That's why we repeatedly question the sense of having said rule. Having a thread where every post is a spoiler is rather pointless.
