I've always wanted the option to take multi lasers in heavy weapon squads. Fluff wise it makes sense that they should be able to use them and I think it would a fairly competitive unit (assuming it's priced reasonably)

On that thread I'd also like to be able to take the option of plasma cannons. It's an expensive squishy unit but might work quite well in blob squads.

I don't think it would be very competitive at all, considering the amount of S6/7 the rest of the game can spam.

I think they'd both be cool ideas, I just wish heavy weapons teams weren't by their nature so damn squishy.

Sadly, they would not be very good. ML is already not that great, and HWT are really bad either :-(
Models would be great for sure...

- 22nd Rhayé Storm Division : 2000points (Spetsnaz-themed IG)

- Ordo Xenos : ~700pts

This. They would cost 25 points each (same as a Heavy Bolter or Autocannon HWT). That's 2 less points than a Scatterbike. For those extra 2 points and -1 wound, the Scatterbike gets T4, much better armor, the ability to jink, insanely better mobility, can be taken in units of up to 10, occupies a Troops slot by itself, and gets an extra shot. The difference is totally laughable.

Tier 1 is the new Tactical.

I would want multilaser HWT's if only as an option.
I also believe there should be Plasma Cannon HWT's.

While we are talking about Heavy weapons teams, I think it would be an interesting option for them to have a "dug in" special rule, where if they do not move for the entire game, they get a 4+ invul or something, it would make their survivability much better and would make sense fluff wise, one the model moves at any point in the game they lose the cover save.

ya. its an upgrade, you cannot move but get like a 4+ invuln.

I would love some more heavy weapons squad options. Might give me a reason to bring my guard back out and use them

TheEyeOfNight- I swear, this thread is 70% smack talk, 20% RP organization, and 10% butt jokes

Multi lasers should be Heavy 6 imo. Considering the only places you can really take then en-mass are on Chimeras and Sentinels, I can't see how it would a be a problem. Especially not compared to Codex: Scatter Laser.

What?

They come with enough weapons to make 3 teams of any of 5 different weapons, and a ton of spares such as entrenching tools, backpacks, spare ammo/lasguns. IMO it's probably one of the best kits for guard infantry around.

The hell are you talking about? They've got tons of options, they're reasonably well detailed, and they're fully interchangeable with the rest of the IG range. They're really solid models.

IG don't need more heavy weapon options, they need the ones they have to be playable.

Multilasers are a tradeoff weapon, which IG infantry don't need. they have the numbers to bring the real thing, whatever they need. (This is one reason the ML has always been a middling option).

A price cut and/or a bump to survibability would be required. Or, make heavy weapon squads three teams, three lasgunners, and a sarge.

Multi laser weapon teams? Calm down there Goto, not everything revolves around those things you know. I see much more use from heavy bolters with a decent ap value. The only reason I keep multi lasers on my chimera is that it looks better than the other choices.

Unless you are Solar Auxilia. Then you can jam Multilasers on just about everything.

AP4 is largely useless due to how easy you can get cover. The S6 is completely worth the trade off.
