You can now order the terrain sprue directly from the new Maelstrom's Edge webstore. Price is £15 / $19.50 for 2 sprues.

Each two-part sprue is made up of 32 separate parts which you can attach to other materials such as cardboard, foamcore or any interestingly shaped junk you might find, to create a unique, 28mm science fiction battlefield. When you order this, you get two complete sprues, that's double what you see in the image below.

Trust me, no matter what damage they have the potential to do, single-shot weapons always flatter to deceive in 40k.                                                                                                       Rule #1

The models from the box set Battle for Zycanthus are all now available from the website so you can expand your current forces or start brand new ones.

Everything is hard plastic, very easy to convert, and the sprues come packed with all the options the units need for use in game.

Very impressed with the prices, the Angel and Hunter are each under $10 that's just... that's amazing.

I DO NOT NEED MORE MODELS.

However that being said surely a few Hunters and Scarecrows wouldn't be too much...

Are you ever going to get a US distributer?

We have one US distributor so far, but several stores have placed orders direct.

I think that the prices here are really worth highlighting, and the image below should be edited into the first post. Considering these are all hard plastic sprues, they're really very, very good!

Who is the US distributor? I'd like to place and order but my credit card does not like transactions from the UK...

Excellent, I may just pick up a Hunter then, one can never have too many robots.

I could use some extra scarecrows, they were always my favorite models from the bunch!

Glad to see progress with distribution, and looking forward to future releases.

I have absolutely no desire to pick any of these up for 28mm wargaming.

Though many of those will be awesome for my 15mm armies.

Wait, somethings wrong. The GW business model says models like the Hunter are supposed to be 35 dollars or more!

Good job moving forward with the game, guys. Those are indeed excellent prices for some cool models. I keep meaning to paint up some Sedition Wars troopers, and a couple of Scarecrows would be great support models. Oh, well, I guess I could add a Hunter, too....damn you!

I'm glad to see the slight price reduction in USD, even though I bought extra mechs via the PM. This should makes it easier to expand an all-robot or all-alien force, and the humans are a bit more competitive now, too, especially the characters/leaders.

The scarecrows and hunters are the best minis in the range. The drones are close, too. I hope they sell really well.

On a side note, the Epirian objective is cardboard in the box set, but would be very simple to convert from the leftovers on the drone sprue. Could the MEdge site add directions for a simple, official conversion in the assembly directions section? I think it would add value for some gamers.

I've been toying with that, using a drone chassis and the track unit from a Star Wars assassin droid. It does come out considerably smaller than the cardboard version, though... the 'body' on the objective picture looks the same as a drone, but is a fair bit larger.

Does the size of the mini matter,r just its base footprint? If it's the base, then just use the parts on the sprue that look like the picture, although with spider drone legs instead of tracks to keep it as simple and all-on-the-sprue as possible. The product description could read "two drones and additional parts to make objective markers" to play up the utility of all the spare parts?

Yeah, the size is probably not a big deal... It just bothered my sporadic OCD tendencies that it didn't quite match the picture

Tomorrow is Salute 2016, one of the greatest wargaming conventions of the year, and to celebrate our second attendance at this prestigious event, as well as the retail launch of our game Maelstrom's Edge: Battle for Zycanthus, we're holding a special promotion over the weekend.

Starting today and running through till Monday, you can download the first novel set within the dystopian Maelstrom's Edge universe for free from Amazon Kindle.

In FAITH, written by Tomas L Martin and Stephen Gaskell (whom you can meet at Salute), conflict and conspiracy grows as the Maelstrom nears the doomed world of Zycanthus.

Sheriff Kyle Wynn is one of many living in the shadow of the Maelstrom. When his desert patrol is ambushed by strange warrior cultists, Wynn realises that there are other forces at play on Zycanthus besides the corporate interests of his Epirian Foundation bosses.

Zafah is a missionary from the Karist Enclave. The Enclave see the Maelstrom as a chance to ascend to a wonderous higher plane of being, but Zafah's mission to save the people of Zycanthus is threatened by the world's heavy-handed security enforcers - and her own conscience.

Wynn is convinced that the Karists are a threat to his family and Zycanthus. Can he uncover the intentions of the Karists before it's too late, or will Zafah's secretive organisation succeed in their mysterious aims?

We are very much looking forward to seeing everyone at Salute tomorrow! You can find the Spiral Arms Studios team at stand TD01, and look out for the free Epirian Foundation Bot Handler sprue in your goodie bags!

Price on some of those models is amazing, I think I might buy the Hunters to use as Striders for Deadzone and Warpath rather than the Mantic minis. £15 vs. £6.50 = No contest, especially if I'm looking to buy squadrons of them.

I'm still torn about painting mine. i like the (star wars)
stormtrooper look for both the karists AND the epirians.

These painted pics reminded me that I liked that look.

Well Salute is now over and it was an exciting day with lots of interest in the game and the hard plastic models. The Hunter mech sold out in the first couple of hours, and there was lots of talk with Tomas and Stephen regarding the background and fluff of the game.

Don't forget, everything is now available to buy direct from the webstore and you can still download the first novel FAITH for free from Amazon Kindle - ends today.

I was very pleased to join Alex, Oscar, Ian and Chris on the Hub Systems Podcast on Friday to chat about the Spiral Arm Studios stand at Salute and my role in creating the background of Maelstrom Edge, including a few hints at our future plans.

You can listen to our conversation at http://mannmomo.blogspot.co.uk/2016/04/the-hub-systems-episode-19-salute-2016.html

Thanks to the guy's at Mann's Model Moments for inviting me along!
