I'm both orderly and rational. I value control, information, and order. I love structure and hierarchy, and will actively use whatever power or knowledge I have to maintain it. At best, I am lawful and insightful; at worst, I am bureaucratic and tyrannical.

Well... it's 08.06.12 (or, as I'm American, 06/08/12) and there's nothing new happening at hawkwargames.com. I am having issues waiting for this games, it looks so stellar. The rules best be at least half good...

Exciting I know, but you are all a little early, it will be in the afternoon GMT. Here is the email I got of Dave:
For immediate release
7th June 2012
Hawk Wargames will launch its website and accept pre-orders for Dropzone Commander tomorrow afternoon, Friday 8th June. Keep an eye on facebook and twitter for up-to-date information.
Following the launch, David Lewis, Director of Hawk Wargames, will be available for live discussion about the rules and miniatures via the company's facebook page between 9 am and 9 pm on Monday 11th June. This will be a great opportunity for gamers to ask questions not answered on the site - something not to be missed!
Hawk Wargames thanks everyone for their support and patience and is very pleased to announce the launch of its products, something which has been eagerly anticipated since Salute! 2012. The website will contain a wealth of information and images for all four launch fractions for Dropzone Commander, as well as rules information, FAQ's etc. Hawk Wargames will also be adding more content to this section in particular over the coming weeks.
Pre-orders of products will be possible from Friday 8th June, to ship from us on Monday, July 23rd, subject to availability. We cannot guarantee that orders placed after July 9th will ship on the specified date. Be sure to place orders early to avoid disappointment!
For more information, please contact:info@hawkwargames.com after launch. Trade information and contact details will be available on the site also.
Thanks again for the fantastic support and encouragement we've received from the gaming community!

I am F5 button-bashing now

Hawk Wargames @HawkWargames
Website update: Needed 2 hours sleep, and there's a lot of details to finish up! Looking like going live early this evening (GMT)
I figured as much, the vast majority of his tweets have been pretty much evening EST time (so 5-6 hours back from UK time)... he must be a night owl .
So I'm not expecting it till tonight!

This worries me. With no proper info or pricing until it goes live and they just want you to pre order with no info before hand. If they released prices and rules previews before they say buy, buy, buy early fair enough but this line smacks GW. Disappointing

Might I suggest you just look at the rules and pricing info first, then give yourself 12-24 hours to cool down before ordering anything? While I would have liked to have had this information sooner, it's not because I'm worried about making impulse buys without reading things first.

They expect to have enough stock for about 1 month of pre-order.
You can wait to look at the price and rules before deciding. I know that's what I plan to do!

Ah, I didn't notice that. He probably misread it to imply a 1-day instead of a 1-month window to guarantee shipping on release date. Makes sense that that would be upsetting . However, a month should be enough time to consider things!

I know, I know. It is just youd think they may have given some info on these things especially to sell a game. If no one buys or less people buy than anticpated it will be a bad move on the companys part and quite honestly i would like them to do well for the models alone.

Yeah, I want to say it's around 3:30 so you can probably expect to wait another 1.5-3.5 hours before it goes live. Deep breaths people.
On a seperate note I do have to wonder if most of the hype that this got was also related to the timing with it coinciding with the GW price hike. I mean, they are nice 10mm figures, but you'd think it was the second coming based on some of the reactions in this thread.

Excellent point! Personally, my desire for this game has nothing to do with the price hike per se. It was GW as company that put me off, so I went looking for another gaming company. I found battlefront and these guys

And I'm not saying I'm not interested as I obviously am since I'm checking this thread. I love Epic scale games and would love for something like this to take off. I'm just wondering if it will or if it's just a spite thing for a lot of people.

I haven't heard much spite here. People are probably waiting on the price. Me, I'm just impressed by the effort that went into it and want to support that.

This is where I'm at, too. Also, if he'd waited to release it, it'd be right on top of 6th ed 40k- probably not a great time to release, as there will be a lot of hype around that. So I think he squeaked it in just in time! And might not have even been aware of the price hike timing (although GW are terribly predictable) but rather just "post Salute reveal" timing.
It may garner him some more players, though, and if it does, so much the better! But I think most of the hype has been self-driven by this compnay's own offerings, which is why so many folks are saying "depending on the rules" since we haven't seen anything for them yet (but will today).

I think it just "hits the spot" that people loved with Epic, and there's been a bit of a vacuum in for some time. The guys at my store are saying if the rules are terrible we'll make our own to use with the models, but hopefully we'll get both fantastic models and rules.

We love what we love. Reason does not enter into it. In many ways, unwise love is the truest love. Anyone can love a thing because. That's as easy as putting a penny in your pocket. But to love something despite. To know the flaws and love them too. That is rare and pure and perfect.

As you have access to miniatures please do us a favour and perform a small experiment.
Take a miniature you haven't finished painting, basecoat plus rough single coat, and bend it a couple of times, show us what happens.
Will a peice of sprue do? :p
I diont know it came on sprues, yes perfect. I would have said sprue if I knew.
in which case bend it a little like a miniature might be, then go to town on it and test to destruction, incrementing how badly you mistreat it and observing results at each stage. That of itself doesn't indicate failure when it happens, we expect it to be wrecked at some point, but if you have to give up without any serious damage I will be VERY impressed.
A short video could be good if thats no problem. Though if the product is that good talk to Dave and get him to try to snap one of his painted tanks on a Beasts of War podcast, it would be excellent copy if the tank stands up to much.
Heres a series of pics from todays messing about with painted sprue, results were suprising!;
Spoiler:
Hawk wargames sprue sprayed black
First bend, no paint damage
Added some colour, and a veriety of thicknesses of paint in different places
Bending commences! No paint damage, though I do accidently break the unpainted part of it
Twisted and bent around again, still no paint damage.
Re-straightened out, paint seems fine, even the line highlight on the edge.
Finally the peice breaks as I turn it into a corkscrew, still no paint damage though!
I dont know what this stuff is, but it makes me physically angry as GW for finecast, if the price is anything like GWs then I may have to punch a baby.
