I may try a similar metal effect on my latest creation.
I take it you have a brown wash over metal base and then scratches and highlights in metals. You've covered it before, I'm just checking that I'm remembering it and not making it up.

Great work there, nerdy, and what an image dump! Loving the AdMech, and Not-AdMech, and especially the metallics on Greyfax.

Cheers guys, Greyfax was a real joy to paint up, females are a different feel to space marines and guard and to give her a feminine quality without her looking too armoured, I think the metals being softer hued do that? her face was a nice challenge and it's been ages since i've done a bare head so I literally had to remember how I did it Lol!

Now before anyone gets shirty and cries "Not again Damo!" just hear me out..........


O.K I'm going to move on from the Imperial Fists as a playable army, I am going to sell what I have and what i've painted to fund my Minotaurs army I love the Fists but with work and life at the moment they are taking too long to paint and i'm losing my mojo for working on them, the sad part is I really really want an army that I can finally play games with and I think i've nailed the army and the inspiration thanks to RiTides and Whaley in part. the Minotaurs scheme is Oh so similar to the effect on RiTides Admech stuff and I LOVE the look of that worn metal, I know I can do it fairly fast and I can do a squad or two while i'm painting for other people and still progress at a pace that will enable me to have a game later this year.

So, if you want to buy the Fists or know someone who needs a good fisting then shoot me an offer i'll probably take pics and pop them in the swap shop tomorrow.

But what I want you all to REALLY do is get me pumped with ideas and conversions, squads and ideas for the Minotaurs please!

So sorry to jerk you around again on the SM front but this time I will sign a contract in my own blood or paint that I will produce a large playable Minotaurs army full of great ideas, conversions, heads and models!

Cool idea . I have a Minotaur terminator libby for our deathwatch campain, and gave him a round shield and a spear for a force weapon(phalanx-style). It immediately adds a lot of 'greek' feel to it. Helmets with crests would also be a nice touch.

I'm thinking of following Az and using some Temistokle heads among them, and some round shields and crests as well as maybe some Greek-esque facial tattoos? probably crests on sergeants. I know it doesn't 'really' matter but am I given reign to mix mks of armour in a Minotaurs force? fluff says they're highly loaded with all the good gear so would they technically have dudes running amok in Mk3 etc?

I feel you Nerdy, i got halfway through my small marine army, and had to strip and redo them as exorcists. Hope you have fun with your minotaurs!

Take it there is no way to strip and reuse, Not that I think a nerdy paint job should ever be removed.

I have some work in progress of the Nurgle army I'm working on, so far i'm up to the first highlight on the armour and skins with the same green, then I'll mix different colours in the same green to highlight different parts progressively, yellow for the skin and a lighter green for armour then I'll start rally getting back into the details to make them nice and yucky!

And with my IF's I really don't want to strip and re use, they're just so lovely plus I like to work on new plastic where I can

Great stuff Nerdy. I like the Maulerfiend of Nurgle in particular . Looks suitably gribbly without making people have to guess what it is on the tabletop.

Will you be getting any of the new shiny Death Guard plastics? (Cult Terminators, Nurgle cultists, new plastic DG tactical squad)

Nurgle is certainly fun to do, i've plenty of things I want to incorporate into the job for him even though he's only after a standard sorta job i'll do some things I think will look suitably creepy I'm not sure as yet if he'll look to get any new stuff when it's launched but I'd safely say he will

I think Moloc and the LC Termies or Command Squad needs a suitably beefy transport, something like a LR Crusader/Redeemer or even a Spartan which would fit the theme perfectly.

Hey dudes! I tell ya! these Nurgle models are so fun to paint my mate Cameron needed them done in a 2 week turnaround so I thought i'd just do him a pretty basic job to get him on the table since he's a gamer rather than a painter, but as I went into them I found I could actually try little things to help bring them to life and it ended up being a pretty darn nice looking army in not much time at all!

I used a little 'Nurgle rot' as an actual paint in areas and blended it in to the surround to give it a sort of crustified booger look likewise the Bftbg I sparingly added it in places for deep wounds and puffy flesh, the green ended up being very close to my Orks and the method in which I painted these guys would be a really fast way to get a Ravenguard Raptors force on the gaming board since again, the colour is so similar (food for thought really)

skulls and bare heads I wanted sticky flensed look, not covered in blood but more like blood staying wiped over a skull?

there's a lot of pics so sorry if it gets repetitive I had to do a decent job since I'll be playing against this army with my Minotaurs when they get done!

Wow. Amazing work there Damo - and so damn quick as well. The Nurgle stuff looks utterly fantastic. You must be some kind of remorseless painting machine.

They look absolutely horrible! Which is of course the point, and what I actually mean is bloody hell, fantastic job there!

Did you also convert the minis, or did they come to you assembled?
