The Silence duo looks good. It's no secret that Poots likes his anime, but these two are REALLY anime. I still haven't decided if I like them or not.

Yeah, they're totally anime with their fabulous hair, limitless straps and harnesses that serve no real purpose, multiple anime fan katana...

There's been a distinct lack of anime- inspired figures in wargaming though, so I'm all for it.

I'm really surprised that more companies in Japan and Asia in general haven't really explored wargaming scale figure kits.
With space being such a premium in Japan, you'd think there'd be more active demand for smaller kits.

Then again considering how many thousands of yen some dudes drop on their prepainted girly figures, what do I know?

The Belt of Gender Swap is a legit Kingdom Death item. I thought we all knew this?

You could only get this card in the original white box pinups of death that always constantly sells out. Some day I'll crack mine open.

I do agree that the female's hair is awesome. Even obscures her eyes in typical 80s anime rocker hair!

Ask and ye shall receive.

The female survivor model for the people of the dragon, who is giving me a bit of a Athena from Saint Seiya or Palutena from Kid icarus vibe. Maybe both. Regretting not painting white robes on her, but then I'd need all the Zodiac Knights in order to do things correctly.

Her not as interesting male counterpart. i don't like his pose. Very flat and uninspired, considering he isn't super modular (outside of being able to use most weapon hands), they could've done a bit more with both of these survivor figures.

Besides them, it's off for another jaunt through jolly old Malifaux. Been on a bit of a Ten Thunders bender lately.

Started up Shenlong, who I am determined to do something decent with that tattoo that covers most of his body.

His buddy, Sensei Wu, I cheated on and just did a bunch of geometric shapes on his arm and called it a day.

HOWEVER, what I wish I had done, is looking at his pose... is turn him into KARNOV. This pose totally would work for KARNOV.

Some scrawny peasants that gawk at Shenlong's amazement and clog the board up, but only are stupidly given 2. The sunlight from my windows totally washed out the shading on them. Ah well, they suck and they're cannon fodder, so who cares?

And then it's time for random Nurgle stuff!

They've got a ways to go before I'm happy with them. I've often voiced my distaste over Nurgley stuff, but those Blightkings were damn fine kits to build. Tempted to put all their extra bits to use... somewhere.

Hi there! I just came home the other day and already got painted!

Check out my sexy legs!

Meet my best friend the beer keg!

And his hairy neighbor who says he's a Bugbear, but is secretly a Sasquatch form Wizkids. Or is it the other way around?

The guy who feeds me! And likes to swing that stick at me when he thinks I wet the carpet (but it was really him- he can't even watch where all his fluids are leaking).
Too bad he's not finished yet....

The big boss! He's really big! He's so big he comes from the other side of the ocean! From the country of espanol! From MOM!

He just showed up too, so he's not really all that well adjusted to climate or exposure to the outside elements yet.

See? He really is a big guy!

So after being away from the computer for some time, it's time to show off all my stinking Blightlords. Got 'em all done now!

First off (but the last built( are Lord Felthius and his Tainted Cohort. I really enjoyed these models- up until I continually realized I kept missing stupid little details all over them. Constantly! I'd think I was done, but nope, there's another set of tubes, or tentacles, or teeth, or spikes, or sores... it just never ended.

The Boss, Lord Felthius

Spiky Bits

Slimy Tentacles

Toothy McShooter

and the rest of the overpriced Blightlord kits that you can't really vary up much!

Grin of the Fatman

King of the Maggots, who you can't really see in this photo. Dude is covered in them. Everywhere. I kept mistaking them for other bits.

Marty McFlyguy

Empty Helmet Horny Head

Will try to photograph them all together after matting them down. They shall clear up a TON of space on my table, so I can finally start painting that Imperial Knight- which is base coated at least!

I did enjoy them though. They'll pair up nicely with Typhus and my Deathshrouds. Ought to stat painting my Dark Imperium stuff while I'm at it. I really like the heavily mutated Nurgle stuff, as opposed to the falling apart and decaying types of old. Leave that for the Plaguebearers.

Speaking of Plaguebearers though, I ended up acquiring a cheap unopened Blightwar box. My son is a big fan of the snail in there, and actually would like to try playing. Hmmm....

Between all that Nurgle stuff, a Glottkin, a Maggoth Lord, and a fair amount of Blight Kings, I may end up with a Nurgle army by accident.

I've said many times, I'm not a fan of the rot and decay. Never have been.

I am a however a big fan of out of control mutation. Twisted and bizarre body shapes and conditions, multiple or missing limbs, misplaced body parts, that's more my bag.

Plus, look what I painted- dudes in big armor, with big spikes and tentacles growing all over them. Where is the rot? Where is the decay? Not too much on display there.

Tzeentch isn't really my style, you ought to know that. Too tricksy. I've always been more about direct combat, Khorne style.

Although if Slaanesh gets a lot of excessive flamboyant units, over indulgent details and the like, I'll be hopping on that bandwagon as well.

By that point I'll have a prefect army of the Everchosen.

New Year, new models! Except from the same lines as always!

A new Kingdom Death model I haven't seen many painted versions of. So to start the new year off I did mine and probably need to take better photos of her.

The Sci Fi White Speaker! It was hard making out what to do on certain parts of her armor, so I did whatever. Happy with the result.

A different angle, and her hanging out with the Twilight Knight waiting for Anna or a decently priced Sci Fi Flower Knight to show up. Still difficult to photograph due to her pose. She has an alternate arm with a gun, but it didn't really suite her I thought.

As promised a while back, I was going to paint the Grimskull/ Wargames Exclusive Cypher model they did. She's hard to photograph due to her action pose crouching on a rock. I like her cobbled together backapck- it's literally wood nailed together with a skeleton strapped to it, holding on to her big 'ol sword.

Then I went and finished up my Blightkings! Technically, they were done before New Year's, but whatever. Never had a chance to post 'em.

Shielded Blightkings

HQ Blightkings

Other HQ Blightkings

Barely clothed Gladiator Blightkings

A crabby Blightking

Blightking King

Big Boss Man Blightking

Now with all that new Nurgle stuff coming, and a Blightwar box sitting in my garage, I think I may end up with a pretty extensive Nurgle army for both Sigmar and 40k...

But next up is my Knight! I'm going to finally commit and get it done, despite the other models still sitting here in the way!

Yeah, I've amassed a pretty decent start of a Nurgle army. My idea was always to have a selection of chaos forces and then I can run Archaon and his whole "Chaos Undividided" type deal. Or Abaddon if/ when they decide to update him.

Got the male version finished for the People of the Sun, from Kingdom Death's Sunstalker expansion. Should start in on the female Miko looking lady soon enough.

With a face only a mother (Sigmar?) could love, Gavriel Sureheart is finished enough. I lucked out and got him for under 20 bucks on eBay due to the seller not listing him correctly. Since he's part of the Hammers of Sigmar I decided I'd paint him in the correct colors, as opposed to my Celestial Vindicators which are all greenish- turquoise.

I also quickly painted up some demon murder babies from Malifaux, the Neverborn Terror Tots. Because there's never enough children getting butchered or doing the butchering on the tabletop.

Plus, as promised, the beginnings of my Imperial Knight. Day One's work was getting it primed, starting to wash over the metallic areas, and block out the base colors for its armor. It's got a long ways to go!

Progress, Day 2.

All of the armor pieces are base coated. Spent way too much time working on details that probably aren't ever going to be seen on the main body.
Base colors on the arms are being blocked in. Details started on the arms as well.

Still need to start shoulder pads and crotch banner. A few handrails for the top of the shell need to get glued... and I kind of lost a few in the carpet.

Just about every gold part needs a few more coats.

Base is going to get done soon. Not sure if I should glue the legs on and then texture the base, or texture first and just superglue it on afterwards.

Crossing my fingers I still have the decal sheet for this!

I was free from Japanese school duties this weekend, so I took the time to get my Imperial Knight finished up.

Now it's just a matter of getting the decals on. Except... there's the small step of actually finding where I put the decals before they can be applied....

Last week I got the rules for Paleo Diet: Eat or be Eaten from Ganesha Games. It's a pretty cool little rulebook for prehistoric hominids hunting Pleistocene- era game, or getting mauled by predators that would have been doing the same. My son is obsessed with prehistoric life, so he was all for it.

Only problem was we don't have a lot of historically accurate or usable models. So I started attempting to rectify that.

In the game animals are classified into 4 major groups- Apex predators, giant grazers, herd grazers, and pack predators. As is typical of Ganesha games, you can use whatever models you have and slot them into the most applicable group.

I figure until I've got the new Bones prehistoric stuff, my Frostgrave barbarians shall be nice substitutes. They're all wrapped in furs, they've got spears and bows, and we'll count the dudes with swords as using clubs. Plus there's already guys carrying torches, so we're good to go start grass fires as well. On to the animals!

We got started on some Bones wolves- they'll be pack predators obviously.

Some of the new preprimed WizKids' Oxen will work for some Aurochs or other early bovine.

Now I don't have a regular plastic saber toothed cat, but I do have a three- headed Cerberus one from Malifaux. Good enough for an apex predator! Still need to finish the base.

Speaking of Malifaux, I've got Sun Qiang all done. He's going to go in a Ten Thunders- themed Frostgrave warband. I plan on using stuff like the Bunraku for thugs, along with stuff like the mechanical Komainu and some of the yokai for the grunt type figures. Sun Qiang here is totally going to be my wizard. I'll probably use Chiaki or Yan Lo as either apprentices or just let Yan Lo run the crew as is.

Another Ten Thunders model, Yasunori. I believe he's supposed to be a Tengu or Oni riding on this Kirin. It's also got wings that I have done a sad job of painting up like rainbows. The rider is sitting off to the side waiting to be worked on.

Started working on the alternate Rafkin model as well. I'm noticing I've got a whole lot of Resurrectionists stuff getting painted lately. Gotta fix that or I may end up actually trying to play them...

Busy busy busy!

I've had a bunch of projects I've started, made very little progress with, and then set aside this last week or two. I did manage to complete a few things though.

The Lord of Blights! Why do I keep painting these Nurgle guys? I don't even like Nurgle! I do like his tail though. His rules are also pretty fun with his ability to lob festering heads at his enemies, and share them with Blightkings that might be hanging around wanting to play a little hackeysack with some heads as well.

I actually started building the Nurgle daemons in the Blightwar box, so my hope is to play through the campaign included there. Also started painting Rotigus, but he's not much to look at currently and is in a bunch of pieces. Maybe once he's finished getting built...

Here's one of GT Studio Creations' Orcs from their Kickstarter. Dude is way more Ogre sized than orc, so I painted him up to match my Ogres. He's really glossy right now. Still not a huge fan of the giant overbite. He's got some crazy proportions inspired by Dale Keown's Pitt comic. The basic model, even more so (he'll be posted next week). For as massive as he is, he's only on a 40mm base.

The dog I'm not super pleased with the face. I'm going to have to redo it. He'll be a hunting hound for either Frostgrave or Paleo Diet.

The Yasunori rider is done. Now I just need to finish his Kirin's wings and face. I want rainbow wings on it. I'm not sure why.

Some random gold dudes. One was spray painted, the other brushed on. I need some brighter golds for the Custodes to make 'em pop a bit more. He was my test guy, and I'll get the rest of the squad started this weekend.

Some Raging Heroes Blade Maidens. They were sitting around my desk for a long time. Need to get them out of the way. The plan was to use them for Frostgrave, but we haven't played in a while. Maybe we can change that. Or I can find an Order unit for Age of Sigmar they can pretend to be. I've got a bunch of hero models Raging Heroes made to go with them as well, but they haven't gotten primed yet. Some day...

On your golden boys, I would suggest not using a black wash. For some reason, I've found that the black wash just doesn't jive very well with gold. Certainly not as well as it does with brass. Instead, I would recommend using either Seraphim Sepia or Reikland Flesh Shade. Both of those, with highlights can really help the gold pop. I've seen a few tutorials suggest using the gloss versions as well, though I haven't tried that yet, myself.

It's hard to see but I already Agrax'ed the Custodes.

What would you suggest for highlighting him? I know Vallejo has a really bright gold I was thinking of trying out. I was going to wash him out even more with Agrex or Reikland, and possibly fill in some darker spots with a mix of brass and gold as well.

Just about done with that test Custodes.

Still need to do a bit of highlighting around the edges and on the jewels. He'll look good I think when I have a chance to seal him.

In an attempt to clear out some sprues, I put together another unit of Wrathmongers.

And once more I couldn't resist bashing them together with odds and ends I already had laying around. Sadly I still have an incomplete unit of Skullreapers from the original End Times release I need to finish, but I grabbed some round bases and they all should be finished at about the same time. The Skullreapers are a lot farther along though, but I'll post them later.

I got the poster boy Orc champion done from GT Studio Creations. Dude is Pitt from Image Comics. Without a doubt. Warcraft be damned. He's quite beefy and bulky, but actually fits on a 40mm base. Gotta have him match the rest of my ogres though.

Here's his buddy, the Orc Warlord, who is going to be getting used as an Ogre Tyrant or whatever their Age of Sigmar equivalent is. He's a big boy too- he's on a 60mm base!

Here he is photobombing GT Studios' female orc who I just got started on. Bit of a size difference there, isn't it?

Haven't had much painting time this week. Had our school talent show, staff meetings, trainings, conferences, and trying to get a new dog house broken.

I did manage to paint some Allarus Custodians, but they ended up selling on eBay for way more than I would have expected them to. I'll see if I have any photos of them still.

My Wrathmonger unit is done at least. Some of them still need their bases touched up, but they're finished otherwise.

Not sure where that guy on the right's head came from- maybe the Varanguard?

Same issue with the guy on the left- not sure where his head originally came from. It might be from the Khorne hero with the axe- flails.

This guy ended up using one of the Skullreaper torsos instead of the actual Wrathmonger one- more arms are always appreciated!

Start doing a quick n' ditry paint job for the First Strike box's Poxwalkers. They should be wrapped up soon- just really need to do bases and washes on their pants. After that, I'll have to... *gulp*... paint Space Marines.

My Raging Heroes Blade Maiden unit is wrapping up. I'm not exactly sure what I'm going to do with them either, as I had the hammer and armor girls to complement them, but got offered a pretty ridiculous trade for the other RH figures, and went with that. I guess they'll look pretty on the shelf until they end up getting flipped on consignment is my guess.

My Custodes Guardian squad should be showing up here next week. With a 3 day weekend I should be able to get them wrapped up!
