I thought I would just try and ask here, if anybody knows of any stores that still currently stock and 3rd edition 40k...(unlikely I know) or that may have closed down some time ago and randomly still have stock that they would be willing to move in bulk
I am not looking to sell, just keep the hobby alive in this house hold
Any sniffs I'd be more than happy to try and chase myself too.

The guys on the Adeptus Terra podcast talk about a shop in Norwich that is full of 2nd hand 40k models, they name the shop in the most recent episode but I can't remember the name!
It is mentioned in the segment where Mark from Frostfiend studios is on.

Ebays probably a better bet but Wargames Emporium in Sheffield stocks second hand as do's the Hobbit Hole in Chatteris. Also oddly enough the Barnados on Cowley Road in Oxford can be worth a punt.....

I've seen most things appear on Ebay. Just remember when you do a search when you get the results go to the top bar and make sure you select "all categories" since ebay will often search a term and then auto-sort you into the"warhammer" sub category. So if you don't specify and search a second time you miss anything that isn't listed specifically under that category.
It's typically quite a significant number (eg there's around 2.6K "skaven" items under warhammer, but under all it jumps to around 3.5K)

Facebook marketplace is a good source for stuff like that. I've picked up a start collecting box for half the price of retail at the end of last year. Facebook groups are worth joining too because quite a lot of people like to sell off their old models, if you don't mind stripping.
There's a model railway shop in Northfields in London which has some old boxes of sealed and used models (40k), but the shop is a nightmare to go through, you literally don't have room to turn around in it.

Area 51 in Bristol used to have a load of second hand minis for sale.
One of my lgs (In Gioco!, Treviso) has a selection of old new blister packs from various editions in 40k and WHFB flavours. They had a small selection of Warmaster packs the last time I was there.

Thank you for all the suggestions guys
I do think that my requirements are a little odd mind you. Just being that ideally I'm after buying a large large amount on bulk and not looking to resell in inself is odd. But I am still clinging to the dream to one day re-create a wall of unopened OOP models.
I have joined the groups on facebook though, they are great.
The Norwich shops sounds very interesting!

Un-opened and still in the box is going to push the price way up on most. Second hand metals which are paint stripped aren't too hard to find for most things (sometimes you've got to wait and there's still some - like the Prophet rat Caller - which are rare and hardly appear much. But most you can see here and there with a bit of patience. But if you want new in the box - yeah - that's going to cost you or require a lot of patient waiting and then cost you .

Ye, I kinda of have everything I would ever want opened that is basically only Eldar, but somehow I do very much enjoy sealed boxes. Automatically Appended Next Post: I listened to the podcast and must have missed the bits where they were talking about Norwich. I did hear norfolk though. Any idea roughly when they spoke about it ?

Gamer's Haven in Cleveland, OH has some older stock, including a few Tomb King items (metal Tomb Guard, resin priets and a couple other items that aren't overpriced). There's a game store in Lansing, MI that also has some OLD Dark Eldar models as well. Clockwork Comics in Orange, CT also has some older models, but the owner is a bit of an A-hole and you'll pay through the nose if he gets a hint that the product is OOP. I got burned there and refused to buy anything there ever again.

Jak's in Biloxi, MS has a decent selection of older models(both sealed and second hand) and they always charge you the original release price labeled on the product when they got it in.

Yeah, there is a fine art to ebay watching.
One thing to look out for is items that are mislabeled. A simple mispelling keeps interested parties from finding collectors items, and that usually results in them selling for cheaper.

I always search for 'Warhamer' when I hit eBay.
There is a lot of that on there.
I'll have to trawl around the local area for old shops with GW stock.
A good opportunity to update the Store Finder.

I had an ebay gold mine; Archaon was mis-spelled, it came with mounted, on foot, and about 2000pts of 6th edition Chaos Warriors. Cost me $65. Guy tossed in a hard case for an extra $15 on top. Gold mine? Hell yes!
So definitely going to give a +1 to mislabeled ebay stuff.

Also worth looking at new listings for 'parent attic clear-outs' of just random piles of minis - sometimes good fun zooming in on the photos and seeing if you can make out what's in there. Have got some real bargains that way!
At the other end of the spectrum I'm currently having a good laugh at the number of Epic miniatures on there now with super blown-up photos (must be a great macro lense - they look massive), tanks for £15-20+, which is quite often more than you can get the 28mm equivalent for.

This!
A friend of mine found an old Wood Elf Spellsinger(the male, standing with stave and Spite, that looked like a Druid) still in blister for $35 for me for my birthday. I've been searching for that model for around a decade. Was shocked to find it still in blister with sale tag and everything.

The Franz Karl Weber store in Zurich sold off most of its GW products around 2010 at a heavy discount. However, stock continues to pop up from time to time.
It's usually sold on the second floor near the cash register. Not sure how much stretches back to 2nd edition, but the product I have seen includes clamshell packs of older models.
Somewhere, there is a poorly managed warehouse where pallets were piled up and forgotten. While this may be a long shot, you may get results by contacting them and asking about it.

I remember having a hard time finding a classic clown-Nagash on eBay while looking specifically for it; later on down the line I got one complete by just happening to spot it in a job lot of 'old Undead bits' someone was selling.
As for stores; Southsea Models and Games down in Portsmouth has a fair hoard of OOP minis for sale, including painted examples.
There's also a shop called 'Wargammers' in Budapest that has a few blisters of old metal Marine pauldrons and other bits, but that's a bit of a commute.
