You're right of course, if it only was that easy though...
I'll see to it...sooner or later. I hope the dying will be kept at moderate amounts, meanwhile I'll do my best.

I suggest that the top dogs in my open group get invited to join your ranks?

@Panic: Inviting the top dogs would send the wrong message, it's not really about the quality. We had that big discussion at the start of the contest and in the end of the contest it became apparent what we said to begin with: it's about the cameraderie!
That's why I already said I personally (and of course the other pimps have a word in this too) would like to invite all the guys who took part in the creative process of the first PMW. That doesn't include the guys who just said "HERE, here great idea I'm in!" and then never came up with anything productive, but it also doesn't exclude people who worked on their projects like maniacs, but for some reason didn't finish it yet. Sounds selfrighteous, but it's more about Vit and some others, than it is about my own failing.
To me everybody who became part of our little pimp community by being creative and working on his ideas would be welcome to the second round. But that's just my way of thinking of course and I'm not making any decisions here.

That was one of my ideas, yes. I didn't discuss it with the others yet, so it's merely an idea. I thought it would take away the elitist touch, without making the contest incomprehensibly big. Again, just me thinking.

@Rogue Wolves: Thanks!

@PDH: It seems to happen quite frequently to me

@neil: Cheers! The red and metal is down, which means about 50% is done! Should be finished by the end of tomorrow.

I agree that something should be done to not balloon any further challenges into 50+ people affairs, its hard enough trying to comment on 10 people's work individually! Thats what made this contest special, the communication between the contestants.

@Baiyuan: Pull your finger out mate

I was merely responding to questions... Man, I'm getting whipped here! Somehow justified I admit it, even though I have good reason for most of my inactivity. Anyway I'm off now to listen to "throne of lies" and finally paint a little.

Good painting session.
Basic metal colors on the gun are in place and I started painting the woodgrain on the stock.
I'll get up early tomorrow and paint some more before work.

Baiyan & Panic

Good discussion guys, I totally understand Bai's reasoning re contest follow-up. I think the end result after all was proof of just how well a "picked" bunch worked in terms of quality of discussion, great spirit and output vs. amount of participants.

I'm working on my stuff contest or no contest, but I think for many people the deadline really did work and I absolutely loved seeing so many interesting takes and the journey. So I hope there will be a follow up soon. The Nurgle guy would've been ace, but myself and PDH are already priming

Personally I'm really not that fussed about a follow up and find it amusing that there is talk of a second before the first has been completed.....The first was great and I've seen some truly gorgeous models (in both threads), stories (neil your tarot is immense), banter and camaraderie. The fact that I am suffering from writers block on my Navigator's story isn't helping me be enthusiastic as I feel I've not finished either.

I've already started on my second chaos sorcerer...though I'm only using the legs this time round. After that I plan on doing the tzeentch sorcerer.

Depending on the time scales/start dates I might get involved....though perhaps it should be renamed to "Pimp that Single Frame Fantasy Model Sculpted by Brian Nelson 40k" hmmmm that doesn't have the same ring to it does it

LOL... that's enough, boys... Baiyuan, we are all eagerly awaiting your creation... although, I must admit, sooner... rather than later is good. I also have to agree that it is extremely difficult commenting on simply 10 of you, nevermind having to reread 2-3 pages in order to not make anyone feel left out- that, and my own sense of having to watch the entries to see which ones (read- most/all of them) that I can learn something good from for current/future use.

@Panic- I can see the logic in that thinking, but again, this was not against first-tier vs second-tier, or second-tier being "promoted" to first tier. If that's the case, I'd most certainly be in the lower group, and Endtransmission would most certainly be in the first. This was about a selected group of friends who visit each other's threads and admire each other's work. That being said, I admire the work of the participants in your thread as well- very much so, actually.

As to the thought of a second contest, my stomach churns as I've got to deal with some insane classes this month... that, and I don't have a new base to work on. Yet. I'm hoping they produce something that calls out to me like the grasshopper did.

@PDH- LOL... that title sounds terrible.. It's almost as good as the "School-for-kids-who-want-to-read-good-and-do-other-things-good-too".

Oh man... that is just... wow....

I really like it, Vit! And a special kudos to all that OSL you did to the model, it looks great! I just got an awesome idea for a photoshop of this model in a darker setting (metal, pipes overhead, dripping, orange/brownish/black/purple hues) with the OSL and water tank glowing in the dark... Great great job!

Hey Mate , Wowser , that's excellent . She oozes charisma and ichor ;-) The blue and green osl as mentioned really pops, also like the way she is climbing the stir looking slightly of balance, she looks like she is concentrating so she doesn't fall into that rhino

group shot sounds good , are we waiting on anyone else cadaver / baiyuan

Great work, Vit! Very colorful and evocative, with the perfect amount of AM crazyness.
What else can I say about her... the first thing that came to mind was that she's a big big girl.

Well my best friend's wedding was last weekend, and I had zero free time. Then I caught something from either my coworkers or roommates cause everyone around me was sick, so I've been really under the weather. So no time recently, and work is still a nightmare, but I haven't forgotten or just haven't had time to work recently. I'm really hoping I start feeling better soon, so I can get some work done.

You can never beat your first time. The second generation is shinier, stronger, faster and superior in every regard save one, and it's an unfair criticism to level, but it simply can't be as original. - Andy Chambers, on the evolution of Games Workshop games

Wicked! Vitruvian she is a monster. Looks great, the paint job really pulled it together and took it from the realm of to . Really like the classic colours you;ve used. The green and blue osl really is good. Really like the square green lense at the base of the tank. The tank looks fine as is...I'd think carefully about filling it with water effect. Your techpriestess is still a stroke of genius. Really glad you gave us a close up of her. The piping is going to all the right places...you know what I mean! I like the bionic arm, which I hadn't noticed before.

Thanks Vit really enjoyed zooming in and out on her. She is great I hope you use her as a dread knight in your next apocalypse game!

Great now only Jack's (if he can drag himself away from Malifaux), Cad's (hope you feel better) and B's ( paint!) left.

Wow, Well done.
Come to think of it. With that size of a project you put yourself in position where you had to built/paint at least 4 times as much as most of us.
Great idea and execution!

Seconded- my group just doesn't have enough of the =I= fire to do it. It's more like I'm the firebrand preacher- I work them up into a frenzy over the idea, make it seem like it's the best thing since toilet paper... but when it comes to doling out tasks or having stuff done in a timeframe, the others kinda just burn out/are tired after work/don't feel "in the mood"... LOL, dammit! I've got a wife, MBA, doggie, and fulltime work for a comp expecting overtime everyday... I'm never "in the mood" to work until I get my hands on the models and start warming up to the idea!

It would be amazing to have these guys in one game or separated into =I= teams that made sense... we could definitely give 'Eavy Metal/WD a run for their money if we took the time to turn out Migs' Jade Vessel-style battle reports on steroids and made them "professional". My guy is probably going to make it as either a xeno merc, a longshot, or easier "predator" scenario NPC that we gotta flee from. Personally, I'd like to be Vit's friend ! Have you seen the terrain set his crew has?? And he's the treasurer/painter of those thingys!

If only teleporters were real....

I do agree with you about the gaming group though Remi, I sometimes feel like the crazy one, the others never seem as into it as me! Most of the terrain my group has is because of government grants, as we have our club in a youth centre Which is really cool, until you have to shepherd the 20 children that come to every session..

Lol... no doubt. I'd buy you a drink or 5 simply for having the balls to ask to join this group with me in the beginning, regardless of possible humiliation and rejection by the hosts. (ah... perhaps most of you didn't know? We barged into the party, but then relented and waited to see if PDH/Baiyuan had any open spots or even any wish to see our work!)

But yes, everytime I get them all fired up and have to be the devil for checking up on their progress... (only to hear a myriad of excuses) this is EXACTLY how I feel...
