Those are really great cultists . I like the pallid skin tones you did on them, still makes them look more human than alien.

Really hoping I can finish the last highlight on the blue skin in the next day or two, to get my Trygon done in time for the start of the May commitments. LOL

So close to having this Trygon done. SO many layers of highlights..... really looking forward to painting some smaller models.

Ulf that Tyranid is beautiful Well done. Possibly the male version of the pink tyranid cartoony style that I love.

with April pretty much done here is my update ported over from my P&M blog:

Thanks everyone for the feedback
April has been a very impressive month for me painting wise. I had an actual concept for this army going into it, and it did not vary much from the plan. So with a little cheating (4 models were done last month in the last couple days of that month, but I'm finished a couple days early this month so in a months time ) I completed my 2000pt. kings of war counts as ogre army with a whole bunch of stretch goals thrown in.

here is the army shot

so that's 76 models in the last 30 days (36 of the mulfins in the last 2 days really bumped the total up, but People have said that individual models each count as one right? and they count as red goblins (with appropriate yellow bellied rule) in the game for me.

here is a shot of the mulfins, I decided to just do a simple yellow tone for them to help them match the army but not look like molten rock.

there is only 3 poses to those models, but they make a great line dancing formation .

It obviously doesn't show up in photos, but the gloss from the BFTBG paint really makes them look that much more grisly.

I've been tempted to get some and splatter my Bloodbound guys with it. Seems appropriate.

Might as well repost this, here's my April stuff. I know I never pledged to do it at the start of the month. Anyway here's the contents of the Fleet Commander Ignition box. Not great but I'm quite happy since they're the first things I've painted in a couple of months and only took an afternoon.

I used to use Tamiya's Clear Red for the same kind of thing, but I prefer GW's style of acrylic, so I tend to use BFTBG these days, despite the ridiculous name. So that's a yes.

Nice work, Nick. While I often have a vague idea of what I might paint at the start of a month, that can often change. There's no need to declare your target at the start of each month or anything.

Thanks Azazelx. I'm just happy to be painting again after a couple of months of not wanting to do anything.

I think I'm close to knowing what to do next month, of course that could all change tomorrow as there's a wargames show on. If I spot anything I must paint my plans will change.

Cozy cockpit of an Archer ARC-5S

Still lurking the awesome stuff in this thread and quietly exalting them. Was a bit sick after I got back from my trip to the UK (got a cold at Brussels South train station I was patted down and the like on a windy platform, must've been the big black army carrying bag), but enough with the puking up of intestines and the like already!

After the mad flurry of trying to (and failing!) to get my tanks all done in time for the trip I've decided that my next project will be an easier one that I'll be taking my time with, having spent most of last night and this morning cleaning and sticking these together:

Mind, it will still be a simple paintjob of boltgun metal, washes and some copper in there to mix things up, but it will be a nice change after all those tanks.

I'm hoping to get started on the chap on the far right in the front row first, he's my personal favourite for the time being.

Whenever I'm done with that squad I'll move onto two different projects for my Heresy stuff..

Well I have had a very productive streak and have finished off my Tyranids for April, which in fact is the culmination of the army. So I am into the 4th month of the year and have knocked off the first 2,000 point army of the year.

Here is my April results (please use this one in the initial post):

and here is a cheeky shot of the whole army. More can be found over on my painting and modelling blog.......

Damn that's a lot of bugs, it's photos like that that both make me want to get in to 40k and run a mile to get away from it. I love the lore and look of 40k (when it isn't obscured by skulls) but there's no way I could tackle a project like that without going mad. I think I'd have to limit myself to little 500 point armies which I can spend lots of time doing little conversions for. You know the sort of thing I mean, an Inquisitor plus retinue or maybe a crusade era non compliant human army.

Oh bugger, I'm just going to give myself expensive ideas now aren't I?

Anyway, loads of respect for painting all those Nids so far this year Archer.

@nick, I'm interested in how those figs look and if it's a decent game. Miniaturemarket had a few of the boxes on the shelf for half off because of dings. Last thing I need is to start another new collection though.

Well I've got no idea when I'll be able to play it and I've not had a proper read of the rules yet. The rules are free on the website so I'll have a good look through them at some point (only got quick start rules in the box). Having built the minis they really are nice. Just be warned they are restic, I personally have no problems with that material but I know some do. My main problem now is what to paint first.

I'll give a big thumbs up for Wrath of Kings. Restic or not, the material works for most of the figures- it doesn't hurt that a lot of them are on the larger side. The weapons are all ABS as well, so they've got a bit of bend to them, whereas the figures themselves are nice and sturdy.

Plus there's some really cool new figures coming down the pipeline for every faction.

Rules are pretty simple as well.

That they are (just started reading the rulebook), just over 20 pages of game rules in a nearly 250 page rulebook with the rest being fluff and unit stats (which are on cards included with the minis anyway). Being concise like that but with loads of fluffy goodness already makes WoK the sort of game I like.

Oh I've decided to work on the House Goritsi Shield Breaker first, I just can't resist the thought of painting a werewolf that carries a "huge axe" and wears steampunk power armour.
