So I had another thread, but well photoshop is being a pain, so I'm starting a new one.
Naval Force of the Iron Gobbos!

Right so here is where the navy is at as of 7.13.2020

Closeups:

Enjoy reading!

Orignial thread start:
So onto Actual Build thread,
With the new Kharadron Overlords book coming out, I decided to dust off an old project, Da Iron Gobbos, aka Goblin Sky Pirates. I decided sense I am getting half of the new Aetherwar Box set That I'll run some Endriggers but I thought as goblins flying planes fitted better, so I started a test model:

Now with green stuff and base:

And where 1 is good, 9 would be awesome right?

This is a fantastic concept - can't wait to see it unfold. One into nine is a big jump!

The plane and his little gobbo driver look fantastic. Rivets and all - must take a lot of patience!

Thanks I'd like to say it was my idea but I saw it on a scratch build video on you tube for someone's deffkopta conversion.

Eldarain wrote:Are you the guy who did the brilliant inflatable squig balloon Boyz?

No, his stuff is amazing. But I'm not a fan of that kind of thing in my armies, like I said I love his work but its just not my cup of tea.

Viterbi wrote:How is that model staying upright on the base, it looks like sorcery And excited to see this army developing!

It is the arcane art of balancing, also I plan on adding rocks and loads of weight to bases.

Rivets are well....... time consuming but well it puts me in a zen like state.

Update, 2 more birds nearing finish line, I need one more propeller and lots of green stuff work to finish the pilots:

Now the real question for my third bird what special weapon, I'm leaning drill cannon (modeled as a multi rocket launcher) or a Gatling gun.

These look awesome, very characterful models.

Can only second what Pomander Cask said, your plasticard skills are great. I remember when i tried to do anything with plasticard it didn't come out to great. Think I got as advanced as bolting on armour plates to ork battlewagons.

Keep up the great work.

Thanks! I remember my first foray into plasticard..... let me say it was not good. This has taken my years to build up to this kind of stuff.

Impressive. How are you making the extra (white) propellers?

IF.... I was making spare propellers they would be resin cast, and mold used sucks, the shafts break off needing re-gluing and painted at times. Also I think this army is going to need somewhere around 30 of those props.

Small update, painting has begun, and well I love using the grots from the grot box, and painting has begun:

and the squadron in the process of being finished:

Ah I missk but my local group is AOS so I'm trying to pipe in as much ramshackle 40k stuff into fantasy.

Thanks!.... A lot of planes..... a lot of painting.....

So small update, but real life aka Work has me wiped out for the last couple of weeks. Tonight I finally had the energy and drive to do something I'm not good at staying focused at painting and got the itch to build something.

I'll give you a hint its going to be a little big....

Yes that is Six mini turrets (32mm base was used as tracing piece)

Close but not that close, its going to be something big and in the air.

So small update, been working on the guns and light detailing, there is one thing missing "Rivets" the bane of my existence at times but this time I'm ordering some to see if they'll work the problem is its from over seas.
All six:

they also stack....... and well the magnets in them make them stick together so so:

Closeup on one turret:

Another one:

You can't see it but behind that plastic panel is a magnet with a hole in it to allow for pin:

I really need to build an Aircraft carrier one of these days so no but perhaps later

howie wrote:Oooooh what are the turrets for? LandKroozer? Grot tanks? Skyship?

I like the idea of calling it a SkyKrooza

So this is my counts as Ironclad, rules wise I am running arkanauts or grudgestock gunners in it so its going to pack lots of firepower thus the extra turrets.

(also I am super tired and started cackling like a super villain at this stage)

Now for the underside, here I can show my secret method for mounting, yes that is a hole with Metal nut glued into the super structure. when I build the base I will glue a bold there thus it screws in as a super secure mounting method, used it many times.

So finish to answer some questions yes I am only using 4 turrets, the other two no clue what to do with them yet. And yes I need to clean my hobby desk.

Also whats a good ship Name, yes I am calling this class of ship a SkyKrooza but the ship needs a Proper Name, and Bismark is not one I will use she's a larger battle ship for my orks if I ever get back to working on that monster.

Comments and questions welcome!

PS: sorry about the crummy quality of the pictures, my photo box is too small and my camera was not happy with night time lighting.

That looks awesome! Some serious progression right there.

The old nut and bolt solution for holding it in place is pretty genious. As a plasticard creation it must be fairly light is it?

Yes it is light, but alos very heavy for a model I do double ply surfaces, aka glue the finshed panels on a frame. Also I am using 0.60" card for a good chunk of the build so its has a good amount of weight.

Thanks, I am taking part of your Suggestion, its Name will be "Da Iron Jaw" closest to Ironclad I could see, also I figured my warlord or endrinrigger's name "Screwloose"

So its been a while, I have not really been taking a break just too lazy to post to the forum, well I'm trying to fix that today.

First part: Main Gun:

And it mounted:

And now the ship wouldn't be Proper without a Bridge & Kaptain:

Kaptain removed, for showing more detailing:

And the detailing process the longest but most satisfying part of a build:

Rivet count? Not sure somehwere around 1,400 as I am almost out of my first bag of new rivets
