Watching a simple video about Bugatti exceeding the 300 mph mark in one of their cars, the driver casually mentions "I'm sure most people have gone 150 miles per hour at some point in their life..."

So it got me thinking: What is the fastest you've gone in your life?

Obviously, you can be scant on the details and wording, no need to incriminate yourself. You can split this up into types of mobility too...perhaps you've gone stupidly fast on a mountain bike, or a helicopter or a wing suit.

Plane: Only ever been in commercial aircraft, so the typical 580-600 mph of a trans-atlantic flight for me.

Helicopter: Only had one flight back to our vehicles while on duty, so maybe 60-70 mph.

Passenger car: Around 130-135 in a buddy's car in college. Personally only driven around 110 (maybe closer to 130 now that I'm thinking about it - did have a few chases with the Charger) while on duty.

Nothing terribly impressive. My mother and father were both in naval aviation, and thus have far exceeded my speeds.

Standard commerical airline speed like most. I've also flown a Harvard II turboprop aircraft up to 300kts, or 345mph.

I haven't broken the magical 200kts ground speed in a helo yet, but I've been close, somewhere in the high 180's, so ~200MPH for you Yanks.

I've had my old car up to ~170km/h, so a mere 105mph. I think some highways in the Dakotas are posted higher than that.

Iv been in a plane so thats probably my max.

though you could argue we are all moving 67k mph around the sun

Fastest iv ever paid attention to was 120mph in a 06 prius.

it was weird.

Air: commercial airliner like most as I'm fairly sure an offshore crew helicopter doesn't go that fast.
Sea: Industrial spooling vessel ~20 knots

On land: 160km/h on a 250cc Suzuki Across motorcycle just to see what it could do. Not recommended. It doesn't like going that fast - it's a small engine commuter bike.
In a car: I'm on a provisional (speed restricted) licence. 100km/h

Commercial flights - however fast they go.

On a bicycle: 97km/h down a mountain. (Calibrated speedometer) Unfortunately, the road ended in a T junction. I have no idea how I made the turn, but the right hand pedal STILL has about 4mm worn off the outside (so I've obviously laid it down to take the corner).

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).

I'm advised that terminal velocity for your average human is 53m/s, or ca. 122mp/h.

I am not any kind of lawyer and you cannot rely on my answer, but the strict answer is that the U.K does not have any 'statute of limitations' on any criminal offence.

Terminal velocity varies by altitude due to air resistance. Freefall from 15k would be higher than mine from 8k. The figure you quoted is from about 4k.

Weird the things you remember from a course 18 years ago, but I couldn't tell you what I had for lunch yesterday....

My dad was a RIO and WSO...so by comparison I haven't done squat. The F-4 was capable of around 1300-1400 mph, and the F-111 around 1600 or so. So, yes, any combat aviators (outside of A-10 pilots, those things are dog slow) will have gone suitably faster than the rest of us. Hell, a cat shot takes you to 150-185 in around two seconds just getting off a carrier.

I'm only counting land vehicles I was driving

Let's see about 150 mph in a 1997 mustang.

160+ on a 2008 GSXR1000. (Not sure exactly, I was in full tuck mode, when I started to slow down I glanced at the speedo and it was just over 160). All of this was years ago though, I haven't been above 80 in quite some time.

On land, I can only estimate, as my speedometer stops at 140mph. I didn't push it much past that. 1987 Monte Carlo.

around 260 km/h with my Opel GTC so roundabout 160 mph. That's what the instruments said, but as you have to consider roundabout 10% deviation to the real speed, I'd say it was about 230 km/h. Not that fast for German Autobahn, but all it was willing to give

My car before that was a Ford Puma, it was a fun car to drive. I was feeling really fast, when driving on the left lane, with pedal to the metal, 220 km/h it said wooooow.... Err until that Porsche drove up close behind and signaled my unmistakenly to go back to the middle lane
