Say what now? New Stargate in the vein of SG-1 and Atlantis? I'll take five, thank you very much. Universe or that "progressive" nonsense called out in the video? Yeah, they can keep that.
I just want a fun space adventure out of my Stargate. If they include McKay, even better. How hard can it be?

Hmm.
Now, don’t get me wrong at all. I bloody love everything Stargate. Yes, even Universe which was unfairly strangled in its Crib.
For the announcement, do we have an official channel, as I have a genuinely bizarre and inexplicable allergy/aversion to “news” channels. On account they all too often make a mountain out of a molehill.
And with genuine respect to OP, their op is setting off my alarms!

So, Brad Wright wrote a script for a new stargate show, and it HAS been accepted. There are copies of said script out there on the interwebs, too.
But, nothing else is really known going forward.
There's also a new streaming channel for stargate. Bear in mind, these aren't the original broadcast episode copies (Children of the gods, the SG-1 pilot, was edited with certain nude bits removed).
I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.

... and yet, with strange aeons, even death may die.
I'd be up for a film sequel if both Dean and Roland came back, but the TV shows are a hard pass. Ideally they should be my thing, but just couldn't get into them.
Excellent news! I was very late to Star Gate (started watching them during first lockdown a couple of years ago) but am not on season 8 I think and a couple in Atlantis - it has a great sense of fun and have found it very enjoyable to watch.

Better late than never! Welcome to the show. And with a little luck you'll have a shorter wait for more Stargate than some of us.

It sounds like Amazon's $8 billion acquisition of MGM last year hasn't exactly opened the gate on a small screen revival of Stargate. At least not yet.
Replying to a fan question on Twitter this week, original series co-creator Brad Wright stated his hope of bringing back the beloved sci-fi title back with an in-canon revival is "likely destined to gather dust" now that MGM — which originally hired him to write a pilot script just before the COVID-19 pandemic — has changed hands. "Timing couldn't have been much worse," he admitted. "All the players have changed in the interim."
'It is a source of constant consternation that my opponents cannot correlate their innate inferiority with their inevitable defeat. It would seem that stupidity is as eternal as war.'
