After a grueling search Gunn was able to find most handsome and attractive director for the project. I wonder what 80s songs Superman will dance to?

I don’t know, but the trailer better damn well have a sad, slow version of Five for Fighting’s Superman song.

I’m down for it. I’ve liked his super stuff that I’m aware of, so choosing hopeful optimism for this one.

As long as the Blue Boy Scout is actually that, I'm down for it. It's like since Injustice came out that's all we've seen in loads of DC projects.

Yeah, it's unfortunate that somehow the classic Superman from things like the DCAU, All-Star Superman and animated Justice League movies basically got thrown under the bus and they want to go for an edgy Supes that is aping Batman in angst, which kind of ruins the dichotomy that is supposed to exist between the two.

IMO (which is probably in the minority), things actually seemed like they were on a fine path after Man of Steel. Yes, he killed Zod and there was much destruction in an imaginary city. But I think the end would have led nicely into a more fully realized Superman who learned from his mistakes in the sequel. But then MoS2 went into the trash can for BvS.

HOWEVER, as long as the franchise was in Snyder's hands it would have been divisive whether or not he turned MoS2 into a Batman movie. Look at what he had planned after ZSJL...Superman comes back, gets kinda/sorta redeemed....and it was gonna go right back to evil Superman and having him murder the rest of the JL.

Which brings me to James Gunn. I can't say I've ever, ever thought that James Gunn would be a good choice for a Superman writer AND director. He's as much of an auteur type as Snyder, and his style just doesn't scream Superman. I'm sure he can put together a perfectly nice Superman film with some heart to it. But does that franchise really play to his strengths? What I really would have liked to see is for the studio to find their Matt Reeves equivalent for Superman or what Villenueve is with Dune...someone all in for making the movie they've always dreamed of. This feels a little like Gunn handling things himself since the boss needs it on his desk by Monday. Again though I'm sure it'll be a very functional film to kick off the new universe and maybe that's all that's needed.

Oh well. Hopefully it's a fantastic film, but I dunno.

And then blaming Cavill when his Superman didn't test well in BvS. You really can imagine this stuff as some sort of SNL skit featuring idiot studio execs.

I’ll just always think of the old JL cartoon when Superman first meets Shazam and Batman calls them a boyscout and Superman says they thought they were the boyscout, and Batman replies so did they, then they met Shazam.
