Thanks MakeH.

Ok. So I finally had some time to finish off the Space Hulk models. These have have so much bling and small details it took me forever to do them all. So...starting from the start:

1. Primed and airbrushed highlights/shadows:

2. Black lined all detail areas as well as did the metallics:

3. Models done! Didn't get a chance to pull out the camera in between stages:

And here are the individual shots:

They look great and from personal experience with them they do take long to paint. So full of nice detail and small things to bring them to life. You have done the models justice and they are great addition to your army.

Thanks for sharing and giving at the same time inspiration on getting my set finished.

Thanks all for the comments guys.

MakeH - The WIP are about as much step by step as I can go. Once I get going on painting, I rarely remember to pull out the camera/tripod to set everything up for a shot. If you have any specific questions on any of the steps, feel free to ask.

As always, the quality is unbelievably high. The shading is incredibly smooth, and the details so crisp.

Glory to the Twelfth! Glory to Angron!

‎"Because we couldn’t be trusted. The Emperor needed a weapon that would never obey its own desires before those of the Imperium. He needed a weapon that would never bite the hand that feeds. The World Eaters were not that weapon. We’ve all drawn blades purely for the sake of shedding blood, and we’ve all felt the exultation of winning a war that never even needed to happen. We are not the tame, reliable pets that the Emperor wanted. The Wolves obey, when we would not. The Wolves can be trusted, when we never could. They have a discipline we lack, because their passions are not aflame with the Butcher’s Nails buzzing in the back of their skulls. The Wolves will always come to heel when called. In that regard, it is a mystery why they name themselves wolves. They are tame, collared by the Emperor, obeying his every whim. But a wolf doesn’t behave that way. Only a dog does. That is why we are the Eaters of Worlds, and the War Hounds no longer."

What's really horrible is that I see those Terminators...and I have urges to scrap the Deathwing project and do my remaining lot up as Flesh Tearers from my copy of SH.

I love the gems in particular. Those are quite stunning.

Heh, that's not horrible at all, that sounds great
Thanks DarkStarSabre...the gems where something I considered for awhile before choosing a colour. Thought about doing them red since they're suppose to be blood drops but they wouldn't have as much contrast from the rest of the model. After choosing green and painting them I was definitely happy with the results.

Well Happy New Years everything. Didn't do too much work this past month with the holidays. Did get to spend 7 days in Hawaii which was a much needed break from work and school. I did however manage to squeeze some time in to finish off my Chaplain on Bike model before the new year:

Also, I've gone back through this thread to document what I've painted so far in 2011:

10 Death Co.
10 Assault Squad
10 Sanguinary Guard
11 Devastators
9 Space Hulk Terminators
5 Meph. Honour Guard
5 Sternguard Vets
5 Scouts
1 Chaplain w/ Jumppack
1 Term Chaplain
1 Term Librarian
1 Chaplain on Bike
1 Librarian
2 SM Commanders
1 SM Sergeant
1 Death Company Dread
1 Ironclad Dread
2 Venerable Dreads
2 Land Speeders
7 Bikes
2 Attack Bikes
1 Razorback (Assault Cannon)
2 Predators

Total Models: 91

Not a bad year for painting...hoping to get 70 done this year.

Happy New Year Eggs! Starting it off in style I see

One Recommendation: You need Contemptors... Lots of em. I LOVE those kits and they seem custom made to show off AB!

I would love to see you tackle one of these bad boys -

Your work never fails to impress. The biker is awesome and my god, the Space Hulk Termies..! There are lots of bits I'd love to know the recipe for, but one in particular I have to ask for – the blood from the Nid's head – how did you do that?!

EDIT: Looks like a Land Speeder Storm in the background there – how's that coming along?

Not to change the subject... but it seems to me that if you were doing a true scale marine force... Contemptors might be legitimate as Terminators. I know they're really big, but "old school" termies were really gods of the battlefield... and the Contemptors are very human in appearance.

Just a thought. And an excuse to follow Tom's advice.

Thanks Tom. I'm not too sure about the contemptors, not a huge fan of the whole look though the posing possibilities are very nice. I saw your pic from the Mosh Pit and looks like you had a good haul for xmas I'll probably end up getting a normal contemptor and a relic contemptor at some time to satisfy my OCD for collecting but that will be a bit later on. Have too many models in the queue right now to finish off first.

When are you going to get around to doing some more painting?

Thanks Luther. The blood for the nid head is done using UHU glue and a mix of tamiya clear red and smoke inks. Here's a good tutorial on it: http://chestofcolors.com/something-about-painting-blood/

The land speeder storm has been sitting assembled for awhile now. I'll get to it someday

Quick update on what I've got going on right now for painting:
Rest of my chaps:

Lots of terminators:
